Hina gave the food to the invisible birdie AFTER "wasting food" became a topic. If she had no intention of eating "left over food from the day before" and also didn't have any intention to "waste food" and knew that she will "only eat 1 paratha but two were being made for her", she should have fed the bird that same day, not the next morning after all the bickering about wasting food...
it was done to save face, no pure intention.
