teamed up for the first time in Chakri
Toleti's untitled next. Although there was a
lot of hullabaloo over the planned title
(Golmaal In New York), the makers
decided to not risk it, given the copyright
infringement issues that could have
happened.
Now, sources say that this film produced
by Vashu Bhagnani may be called Gadbad
in New York instead of Golmaal in New
York.
Besides the copyright infringement issue,
trade sources say that another reason
why Bhagnani reportedly changed his title
is because Karan Johar, who has a double
role in the film, put his foot down as far as
the title was concerned. Karan, who is
close to Rohit Shetty (of the Golmaal
franchise) was clear he wouldn't agree to
a title that was upsetting the latter.
According to a source, "Karan gave the
makers an ultimatum. He made it clear that
if they called the film Golmaal in New York,
he wanted nothing to do with it. In fact,
KJo said he wouldn't even come on set
because he respects Rohit and didn't want
to upset him at all.'' Our source adds, "Of
course, Bhagnani too saw reason in the
whole Golmaal v/s Gadbad argument and
on his own opted for
Gadbad.'' Sonakshi, who has completed
the film reveals, "The film is a lot of fun. It's
releasing early next year. The title has not
been finalised yet.
