Hatim—a fantasy from the legendary Sagars on Star Plus

Starting Friday, December 26, 8:00 p.m.Imagine a young prince transformed to a stone! Or a huge dragon coming out of smoke! A flying mountain! This is no jaadu, but a magnificent fantasy series -- lavish, grandeur and spectacular — Hatim coming on Star Plus from December 26, 8.00 p.m. The new series, based on the evergreen Arabian classic, Hatim Tai, has stood the test of time, crossed all barriers of religion & language, only to be loved by children & adults all over the world. Produced by the legendary house of Sagars, (Remember Ramayan, Indian television's first mega mythology), this epic series comes from the third generation of Sagars, Jyoti Sagar, Amrit Sagar & Shakti Sagar.

In the world of tinsel thunder & telly dramas, this fantasy will storm-centre your television screens with gloss'n'glitz, razzmatazz & bring to life, for the first time, on Indian television, animated characters and virtual sets, all thro' use of exquisite digital technology on small screen. The story of Hatim is Good versus Evil, a concept that has been nurtured over the years, be it the Hollywood Sci-fi Star Wars or our very own epic, Ramayan. The protagonist Hatim (played by Rahil Azam) is the young, handsome prince of Yemen, who is very courageous, virtuous, protector of the weak & destroyer of evil. The fantasy series is about the adventures of Hatim in strange lands, encounters with strange creatures and his mission to solve the seven riddles that was a challenge put forth by evil Dajjal (Nirmal Pandey).

Said Deepak Segal, Senior Vice President, Content & Communication STAR India, "Hatim is an immortal classic, a magnificent fantasy with high production values, computer graphics, never seen before on Indian television. It also comes from the legendary Sagars who have given Indian television shows like Ramayan, Sri Krishna to name a few. This is the first of its kind on Star Plus & we are looking towards a mass audience of young children to young adults to senior citizens, to come in."

The fantasy begins with each riddle which takes Hatim thro' an amazing journey of magic, treachery, danger, where he meets flying horses, talking mountains, headless creatures, genies & fairies. Hatim tries to solve each of the seven riddles in spite of Dajjal's devious plans & major obstructions. Hatim, is all about the triumph of the good over evil, told in the form of an elaborate story, presented with grandeur & never-seen-before digital graphics with the magnitude of a 70mm picture brought to you on small screen, right into your drawing rooms.

Produced by Jyoti Sagar, who leads the third generation of Sagars — Amrit Sagar & Shakti Sagar—the young turks behind this mammoth fantasy series, he is the man behind all post-production across their ventures, films, television. Twenty five something Amrit Sagar & Shakti Sagar are directing the series, which has presently over hundred people working on the sets, in Baroda, to create that magical feel of the exploits of the legendary prince Hatim. The cast includes Rahil Azam as Hatim, Nirmal Pandey as Dajjal and Pooja Rawal as Princess Jasmine.

Jyoti Sagar, the techno-savvy entrepreneur, who is responsible for the special effects said, "The fantasy serial has a contemporary hue, the 3-D characters, eye-catching costumes, humour, adventure, suspense, all of which goes a long way in making Hatim so special & different. There are three different kingdoms in Hatim—Rajput, Persian & Paristan, and the sets had to be designed to suit each. This tough job, apart from directing & scripting, was handled by Amrit & Shakti very effortlessly. Hatim brings the third generation of Sagars to the forefront, in the world of celluloid. We hope to keep the banner flying high."

Stay tuned to Star Plus, from Friday December 26, 8.00 p.m. you'll meet the adorable Hatim & enjoy his adventures & exploits for the downtrodden, battles against Dajjal, his life- saving moves for the beautiful princess and the mega epic series that will keep you glued to your television sets.
