opus Padmavati is facing trouble since its
announcement. Now even when the movie
is close to its release, the protests against it
are not stopping.
As reported by a leading daily, on Sunday, a
women group in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi
protested against Bhansali's Padmavati
alleging that he has distorted historical facts
in it. The government in the state had
assured that theatres there will be provided
full security and nothing can harm the
movie's release.
These women were protesting holding
rolling pins in their hands, several banners
against SLB by International Kshatriya
Veerangana Mahasabha. It is an
organisation representing Rajput women.
During the protest, these women also burnt
Bhansali's effigy at Lahurabeer in Varanasi.
Even the Rajput Karni Sena, several political
leaders and now Mewar Royal are against
the movie's release. They all believe that the
Devdas director has shown a romantic
dream sequence between Rani Padmini
(played by Deepika Padukone) and Alauddin
Khilji (Ranveer Singh).
The director had cleared it several times that
Padmavati has no such scenes and he made
the movie with a lot of responsibility and
hard work. In a video, Bhansali said that he
has always been inspired by Rani Padmavati
and that this film is a tribute to her bravery
and sacrifice. He clarified and assured
everyone that there is no such scene. The
filmmaker also assured everyone that the
dignity and pride of the Rajput community
have been respected.
Padmavati also stars Shahid Kapoor in the
lead role. The movie is slated to release
on December 1, 2017.
