He started early on. His tag name was Mr. perfectionist. Early on he would make director take takes after takes and there was murmur that his interference and insistence on multiple re takes was increasing budget. Ghulam was first movie where allegation that he was ghost directing started. But this whole control thing started long time back in his career. The difference between two stars is he demanded perfection from himself and worked towards making movie better and he really understood movie business. Also he was not difficult. He had light side. 😊

The difficult part came later when he became successful. I was talking about his early days.
His penchant for perfection and retakes was his biggest issue. It cost movie budget to balloon and go out of control. 😊
