I loved my first BW film in a theater! It was a visual treat and Ranbir and Katrina rocked their roles. Music was good too, I have 2 that play on my iPod daily...

I really don't know why it didn't work, there were certainly worse BW films!

1. It took too long to make, so I think many soured on it before it even released.
2. Cost too much (see #1).
3. Too experimental for the general audience.

If the movie had not had so many delays, not been interrupted by the RanKat drama, been made on a reasonable budget, and released with the targeted audience in mind, it probably would have done much better.

Its fate was really a shame. I think it was a gorgeously filmed movie.

Indian audience isn't intelligent enough to understand or appreciate it. Its futuristic and way ahead of its time in BW. Kids schools had already started and parents didn't take them to watch this movie. It was appreciated aboard where more intelligent ppl live. Who cares about the business, the movie was pure cinematic genius, everyone should be proud that a movie like this was made in India.

Good 1st half
Trash 2nd half.

As a general rule , 2nd half need to be betteer than 1st half.
As this only leave the lasting impression that may compel viewer to come back.

We went over this several times during the release
- Poor scripting. Too many events were stuffed into a bloated script that was too long to hold attention. The movie should have been broken down into parts.
- The pure musical format of singing every dialogue was jarring. Indian audiences are not used to it, plus it was no executed as well.
- Promotions did not lay down clear expectations. Most audiences did not know what to expect and were disappointed with the results. It neither connected well with kids nor adults.
