National Award winning actor Rajkummar Rao said he was never affected by the controversy on his film "Newton", which has been selected as India's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nomination.

National Award winning actor Rajkummar Rao said he was never affected by the controversy on his film "Newton", which has been selected as India's entry for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar nomination.

After "Newton" was announced as India's Oscar entry earlier this year, some media reports indicated a similarity in its plot with Iranian film "Secret Ballot". The comparisons were put to rest by the makers.

Rajkummar told IANS: "I was not affected by the controversy of 'Newton' because I knew that these two are two different films. I knew it from the script. However, I am happy that everyone who created the controversy, has got an answer when the producer made a statement mentioning that the film is different from 'Secret Ballot'."

I agree Avani. I have read & heard a lot about him
being an amazing actor, but never watched any until now, except for that very small role in
Queen.

And yes I did read about this new movie which should release soon. The story looks interesring
& the female lead Kriti Kharbanda seems like a good actress too. I want to watch this
& just hope its releases here too.

Kriti has worked in Kannada, Telugu and Hindi films. She made her acting debut with the Telugu film "Boni" in 2009, and featured in "Raaz: Reboot" and "Guest Iin London".
She will next be seen alongside Rajkummar Rao in "Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana", set for release on November 10.
Talking about the film, she said: "I'm beyond excited for 'Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana'. It is my most passionate project till date. I feel nothing but love for the characters of this film altogether. It has introduced me to some great relationships which will last me a lifetime. The script entirely convinced me to say yes to the project. "
Directed by Ratna Sinha, the film is penned by Kamal Pandey and has been shot in Lucknow and Allahabad.
Its story rises from the cultural and traditional roots of Uttar Pradesh, and is about two ordinary middle-class people, Satyendra Mishra and Aarti Shukla, who are soon to be bound in matrimony. But Satyendra is left alone at the altar as Aarti decides to pursue her dreams.
Five years later, they cross paths and the story takes an interesting turn when Satyendra, now an IAS officer, has been assigned the case of framed PCS officer Aarti.
Kriti says she still remembers reading the script, calling her agent and asking the agent not to negotiate the money because it's a film she did not want to lose out on.
"I love it irrespective of what happens post its release. It's the first time, I have done a film not thinking about the future. I'm self-satisfied and that's the only thing that matters."
She is also working on "Veere Ki Wedding" with Pulkit Samrat.
"One Kannada film and 'Yamla Pagla Deewana Phirse' (with the Deols), I'm extremely excited about. I play a Gujarati girl in that film. I think it will be fun to see Gujarati-Punjabi tadka come together," added the actress.

Thanks for posting, Mish! ๐Ÿค— Rajkummar is definitely the most talented of his generation of actors including Varun, Sushant, Pulkit, Arjun, Aditya, and yes even Sidharth. ๐Ÿ˜› I'd consider Ayushman a close contemporary with films like Vicky Donor and Dum Laga Keh Haisha. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I first watched Rajkummar as the antagonist in Humari Adhuri Kahaani and thought he outshone a talent like Vidya Balan in the film. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ I haven't gotten around to watching Newton yet, but the trailer looked convincing. ๐Ÿ˜Š It's nice to see the transition from the South to Bollywood. Noticed quite a few actresses from the South recently being offered Bollywood films. Kirti has an interesting lineup of work! ๐Ÿ˜ณ Hope all the films work in her favour. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Gosh, he's so handsome! I love this rendition of Raat Baqi, Ami! โค๏ธ The male vocals in this song are quite impressive. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ I haven't gotten around to watching Ittefaq yet, but I'm so happy the film worked in Sid's favour. The film's being forecasted as a hit! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ I hope Aiyaary with Manoj Bajpai works in his favour as well next year. ๐Ÿ˜ณ
