Yeh hai mohabbatein...Is it really a family friendly show?

The show airs at 7:30pm, a time slot where many families, including mine with my younger siblings, sit down and have no choice to watch the show as my mum watches the show (I used to be a fan of the show way back in the day till the time young adi accepted ishita and deflected to her side leaving shagun), and I can't help but wonder, looking at what has been shown in this show since the time of the first big leap when Raman kicked ishita out of the house and she attempted suicide, till today's episode, whether this show is something that really should be considered family appropriate?

Whenever my family sit down for the show, all me and my younger siblings are subjected to watching is a show that is filled with god-awful conspiracies, watching characters like ishita, who have only done and thought good of others, being constantly given ill-treatment and vile accusations thrown against them.

Also, Ruhi's behaviour in this track has even startled my 12 year old brother, who is shocked at how a little girl (Referring to aditi bhatia, who he thinks is only 2 years older than himself 😆...my brother is too cute, but he makes sense, because she does look like a kid) wants to be the mum to a girl who isn't that far off her age and is so stubborn in wanting to marry a man who is much older than her that she is speaking disgustingly with her parents. These were the points my cutie pie, cuddly teddy bear of a brother made.

I was also concerned with all the stupid scenes of ruhi threatening to kill herself when my 16 year old sister was watching. My sister has anxiety disorder and herself tends to behave unruly with my parents due to her disorder and throw tantrums and is unpredictable, including having attempted self-harm previously, and seeing this ruhi behaving so disrespectfully with her parents just to get her own way and then also threaten suicide is deplorable. They are trying to pass off aditi as playing an adult, but the truth is, she looks younger than my 16 year old sister, and is acting disgracefully, and seeing other young people in the media act like this is impressionable on other young people.

The most awkward moment was the scene with nikhil revealing his plan to sleep with ruhi and ditch her at the wedding, as well as subsequent scene of nikhil-ruhi in the hotel. I was so wishing my brother would have been too distracted by eating to even pay enough attention to what was being said and shown in these scenes of nikhil, that it made me uncomfortable when he reacted with disgust to nikhils's action/ dialogues and would even say things like "How can ruhi come in that hotel room with him and not understand that he is up to no good". This is concerning. My mum was in the kitchen when that whole scene came on though to take notice of this. These are the words of a 12 year old boy. See what the CV's are doing?

On top of it, it is distressing to see women and good people who think well of others like ishita, to be treated like this and the constant screaming and disgusting allegations/ words that these vile characters use or the actions of toshi and simmi really are infuriating to watch for any person, let alone a family eating together at dinner with their impressionable children. All the scenes including the concerned leads being screamed at, humiliated and being taken for granted by other horrid and dumb characters in the show made me and my family want to tear our hair out.

I really need to convince my mum to stop watching this show, and I'm truly sorry if anybody is offended by the negativity in this post and me saying that I need to convince my mum to stop watching this, but I can't be the only one who has had those awkward cringy moments where they are sat down with the family and a really awfully disgusting scene comes on that you know is inappropriate for kids to see or hear and the kids question it with logical questions that make you realise how wrong the content in this show is?

My mum doesn't seem to have a problem like I do with what's going on or thinking that it is a bad influence on the kids, otherwise she would have stopped watching, but then I realised that my mum is the typical trp aunty, and they never find anything wrong with these regressive and negative shows.

Indian television is regressive and that's a fact. There's only been one good daily in current years; Ek Hasina Thi which was a finite series !

I loved that show. Considering the way the show ended on a creepy cliffhanger, they could have really done a season 2.

They should definitely! Having said that, the actors have been busy with various other projects. I hope it materialises
