I watched 1st episode of this shitty serial today, where the mother in law, sister in law and husband tortured the poor girl (I heard she is highly educated and studied MBBS) and burned her back with a hot iron.

Channel ran a message that they are against such behavior with women etc etc etc and got rid of their responsibilities...

WOW 👏

Now what next?? slowly the guy will melt down and girl will forget everything and will love him and accept him wholeheartedly!!! and then they will live happily ever after.Even today she has such regressive thinking "Patni, pati ke baad khati hai". Remember she has studied medicines!!!

what an orthodox regressive piece of shit where a daughter in law is subject to such torture at the hands of in laws and still not ready to move out. Because "it is her sasural and she will change her husband".

and wow, we watch this shit?? This is the only reason why makers dare to make such shows in 21st century and women only watch it. Reason?? They find lead pair cute and want to see their proximity for that audience is ready to watch all shit crap being shown as our morals are dead.

Now, I will receive replies like-"This is fiction, take it lightly", "don't watch it if you don't like, don't hurt our sentiments", "See the husband will also hurt himself tomorrow so hisab barabar, he is not bad no", "Husband will turn a good guy in future, everyone deserve a chance to improve" , "you watch it only today, it has an interesting revenge story"etc etc etc

SO IS THERE ANY REASON WHICH IS ENOUGH TO TORTURE YOUR WIFE, YOUR SISTER IN LAW OR YOUR DAUGHTER IN LAW? after burning her back, you burn your back and all Gunaah Maaf 👏👏👏

I am really annoyed, frustrated and appalled not because makers still make such shows, but because we as an audience watch it. shame on us.

and if it is only fiction and we should not take it seriously then why we often hear, people committed crime inspired by so and so movie!!

The timing of this show is suitable to rural India where already women are suppressed, and by watching this shit, they would think that no matter whatever is being done to us, we should bear it all!!!

Enjoy this disgusting filthy show guys, i am over and i am going to report to

Indian Broadcasting Foundation for allowing this shit on national TV. This is all I can do!!!

None of us here endorse this behaviour or condone abuse of any manner. And no you are not going to get the typical response, atleast from me.

I have been watching the show from the beginning and the reason why I watched it is not for its regressive show theme but for the spunk of the girl in giving back to the evil. That particular instance of patni, pati ke baad khati hai has been quoted out of context coz if you watch the entire scene you will understand that she was playing a shrewd game there with that.. Leave that

I must agree that the show crossed a line for me today. ABSOLUTELY NOT DONE!

To say, my heart sprang to my mouth is an understatement. And what it opened my eyes to is that patriarchy is a cloak to blame the guys.

With such specimens of women at home like the evil mom in law or sis in law, its women onto women and the guys mere executors. Time and again we have seen this behaviour. women are the ones to torture women, not once blinking their eyes if their sons misbehave or ask for dowry or indulge in domestic abuse.. why blame the guys..

No, am not absolving guys of the crime.. but my point is larger that.. this shit cn change only once women change..

what is worse to stomach.. is the precap!! I mean seriously!! Disfiguring a gal's face!! that too by two women!! Enough of this my son, my ma nonsense..

I had genuinely given this show a watch coz I loved Devi and her never say die attitude. She was not the one to cry or mop or be a doormat. She gave it as good as it gets or worse. But today, her wailing wrenched my heart.

@Zee - do not ever show abuse like this. Showing a tickr is a mere legality, washing your hands off the sin. The damage is already done with millions watching. You see, Smoking is injurious to health, never stopped anyone from smoking!!

The mother in law is a criminal the son is a week mamas boy and the sister in law a criminal the lead female needs to move out of that hell hole and complete her education In this 21st century no one should tolerate this shit or support this kind of behaviour. Yes this is fiction and we have the choice to use our remote the message that this shows sends to international fans like me is that India is still a backward society Yes I know women are still tortured in different part of the world like Africa, China, Middle East and parts of Europe and there are NGO fighting for their betterment My point being this behaviour should not be glorified on TV this is DISGUSTING

Sharlene, in many ways India is a society in transition, predominantly backward. Less than 2% pay income tax in this country and proportion of working females is even worse off. Literacy in India is counted for as someone who can read and write and who are above the age of 7 - it'snot even about 10th pass. In a population of 1.2 billion and counting, you can do the math to understand the backwardness of it. Forget the urban - rural talk.

Coming to my main point, what they show in TV shows is just 10% of what happens in reality esp in the larger sections of the country. So while yes I denounce the overall treatment of most shows across channels where we see oppression and regression, what is more important is to show the fight back or explain things in a manner that is palatable to that section of the audience. Unfortunately, that's human nature. Overnight, changing all programming and airing documentaries of female emancipation is not gonna work. The backlash will be worse. Which is why any show that has a fighting and rational female lead has my support now ala Jeet gayi to tu Suraj main sanjh piyaji to others.

Do I condone such behaviour - no, am I batting for such behaviour - no. Coz we with our education and rational sense, no this is bullshit. Unfortuantely this is not our reality.

I do not agree with the fact that all of the oppressed see this and continue to think they have to be like that. They also get to see Devi or Kanak or for that matter Sandhya Rathi fight back and finally get their place. That's their reality.

Santi one woman committing a crime against another woman is not a new story be it for greed or jealousy the MIL hates Devi and her family for the death of her husband and whatever plight followed thereafter so she killed Devi's parents what and who give her that right to play judge and executioner or even god??

There is a limit to blindly following your parents he son should be a man and stand up to his mother okay you want to treat Devi as a servant/prisoner to please mummy dearest but to physically harm her by burning her he is an ass an idiot even if these things happen in real life and they do it should not be glorified on tv by him burning himself is not enough he should give himself up to the courts yes his family control the local law but he should be man enough to surrender himself to the punishment of jail or send his mother to jail.

There is nothing brave about living in a den of criminals or shall I say animals in human form hoping to reform them The male lead will only change and his true kind self will emerge if he grows A PAIR OF BALLS AND STAND UP TO HIS DOMINATING MA .the problem in this marriage is the EVIL OLD B**** get rid of her send her to an old age home or a very long pilgrimage for years

I completely agree with you Sharlene. As I mentioned in my earlier post to Jeannie, women are women's worst enemies. And this kind of abuse is unacceptable and should not be glorified on TV..and have you seen the Indian movie Bahubali

The nation collectively swooned over him coz he said one line - mom, you are wrong (literally siding with this wife). These mummas boys need to know what's wrong and right and to what extent they can support or prove loyalties to their evil moms!
