Chapter 1:
New Year's Eve 2026, 11 PM, a crowded dance floor in New York:
Dev Dixit was sitting in the quietest corner in a fashionable and happening bar and was a nursing a scotch on the rocks. He was tall and well built and even with the grey hair at his temples still very handsome and attractive. He was dressed in a black Armani suit. He was one of the most prominent businessmen in India, currently in America for 6 months as a visiting professor of Business Studies at Harvard Business School. This was something that he did every few years because he enjoyed teaching and he somehow managed to balance his business and his passion. These few months were his and his alone. He had been dragged into this party by Natasha, his on and off girlfriend, who had been visiting him in America over the New Year. Her father was his business associate from India. His classes were staring in a couple of days and he would have preferred to prepare for the classes instead of attending this party. But he had to oblige Natasha as well.. Just when he was about to take a second sip, she came to him and said "There you are Dev.. I was looking for you. There is someone I want you to meet. Dev did not look up and before he could react she said "Meet Jatin Roy and his friend Sonakshi Bose. Hearing the second name Dev looked up and couldn't believe his eyes. He stood up and continued looking at Sona. He suddenly realized that Jatin was holding out his hands and as he shook hands with Jatin, Natasha continued "Jatin runs a Venture Capital fund and invests in different businesses and currently wants to invest in India and that's why I thought you both should meet. Dev stared at Sona standing in front of him after ten very long years. He couldn't believe his eyes and from the looks of it so couldn't she. Sona stared at Dev and couldn't look away. Ten years being away from him did not make a difference and she just couldn't look away. He looked so handsome and looked the same as she remembered. Only thing she noticed were his sad eyes and the fine lines around them and the touch of grey at his temples. But somehow that made him look more handsome in a black tuxedo with his thick hair slicked back.
As they continued drinking in each other's presence, time came to a standstill.
Suddenly, Natasha's voice broke their reverie and she said "Arre I am waiting for an answer from either of you! Dev looked around and noticed Sona standing quietly as Jatin was enthusiastically wishing someone else.
