I guess it has to be Kajol. She has seen the most amount of success amongst all the ones mentioned above. Also, she still gets roles opposite superstars.

Yes, she is. Her father Ram Mukherjee was a director, her aunt Debashree Roy is a very famous Bengali actress and every knows that she is the cousin of Kajol and Ayan Mukherjee, if she is not a star kid when so many of her family members that r working in the industry, then nobody is really consider a star kid.

Karisma?? Forreal?😆.Popularity does not mean number of B.O hits,the kind of work u did in a movie,awards,brand worth,longevity also count for it.

IMO its close competition btw Kajol and Kareena.
Kajol might be the only BW heroine so popular down South despite having no SI base culturally and having done 1 Tamil movie only.Many South veterans named her as fav Hindi actress.Joy Alukkas,hugely popular jewellery brand down South just signed her as their ambassador.She enjoys Pan Indian popularity.Probably only BW heroine who ppl accepted despite average looks,bad dressing due to her screen presence and acting

Kareena is very popular in North regions,among the mass circuits especially .Its due to her looks and pataka personality.I dont think she has many good movies in her filmography or big hits where she was as important as hero but she is really popular among men and women alike.Her family,lovelife,fashion,now kid always get ppl talking

Rani is a close second.She is the only main stream actress loved and acclaimed by arthouse film makers,critics and common audience alike.Future it will be Alia sadly seeing the way Kjo parades her around,though her talent is pretty limited compared to others in list

Nobody is denying that Kajol is one of the best actress in BW but neglecting Karishma Kapoor's hard work and talent is not fair either, I am Kajol's fan but I wouldn't say that Karishma Kapoor is not a big star or didn't make big in BW by her own merit, in fact she is the only star kid that had to struggle a lot to make big in BW and had to go through casting couch a lot because everybody know that the Kapoor family was against their daughters entering in BW, it was her mother Babita that pushed her to work in movies, so whatever she achieved was by her own hard work unlike other star kids that got so many opportunities without struggling so much, also Kajol mostly got success by working with SRK and YRF banner movies in the 90's where Karishma became successful without working many YRF banner movies and she got success with more heroes like Salman, Akshay and Govinda. When Kareena entered in BW, it was because of Karishma Kapoor's fame, Rani Mukherjee's situation is like Kajol's situation because Rani too became famous by working with YRF banner movies, working in the south movie is something different but u can't deny that Karishma is one of the best actress in BW, the reason she couldn't last long is because of her miserable marriage with her ex husband where Ajay always supported Kajol to work on movies after marriage.
