Padmavati Trailer: 5 Things which could have made the trailer FAR, FAR better
Find out what all could have made the Padmavati trailer even more hard-hitting and stunning.
The most speculated trailer of the year, which we all had been waiting for with baited breaths, was finally released on October 9, 2017. And, just like Sanjay Leela Bhansali's previous love sagas, this one too promised to take us through a grand, equally magnificent and historical journey ahead. From Bollywood celebrities to film critics, Netizens to Twitterati; everyone has hailed the spectacular brilliance the trailer had to offer. We too could not stop ourselves from gushing over the trailer and writing numerous copies on the magnanimity of it. But, upon retrospect, we realised that there are five aspects which most certainly could have made the trailer even more hard-hitting and stunning. Let's take a look:
1.Bajirao Mastani and Game of Thrones hangover: Now, let's be a little honest here. If you're an avid follower of Game of Thrones and vouched for the masterpiece that Bajirao Mastani was, how could you possibly miss those several glimpses of the two in the Padmavati trailer. Ranveer Singh's sculpted physique, scarred face, long tresses instantly remind you of Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones. Even the war sequences, seem to have been heavily borrowed (read: inspired) from Bajirao Mastani and GOT. Don't you agree with us on this?
2.More intensity in the characters: Apart from Ranveer Singh's character of Alauddin Khilji's, the other two characters Rani Padmavati of Chittor and the King of Chittor played by Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, respectively, are not immediately convincing. In fact, it takes some effort to shrug off and forget looking at Deepika as the Mastani from Bajrao Mastani. Shahid, too, shines through the trailer but, his first look in this visual feast does not really give you goosebumps.
3.More focus on the soundtrack: We played the trailer of Bajirao Mastani and Ram Leela after watching the trailer of Padmavati. What did we find? The trailers of the other two films we have mentioned had much more powerful, exhilarating and exuberant music. Check it out for yourself!
4. A dialogue from Ranveer Singh: There's no doubt about the fact that Ranveer Singh will turn out to be the masterpiece in this grand, epic period drama. And though Ranveer steals the show with his nuanced, unrestrained and passionate act, we would have loved to have him say one dialogue, just one! All those Ranveer fans out there, are we right?
5. Crisper trailer: We know how important the first trailer of any film is and totally understand that the entire post-production team must have taken considerate decision to keep it as impactful as possible in as little time as possible. But, somehow, we still feel that a little tightly edited trailer would have been more impactful. The longer we see the trailer, the more we are reminded of the similarities between Ranveer Singh's look to that of Khal Drogo's look in Game of Thrones.
