When Narendra Modi can be called the greatest Indian Prime Minister after mass murders like the TM pointed out, why can't Sultan Ala-ud-din Khalji be?Khilji's taxation policy is still considered the best ever economic reform. He was a great leader and king.
The tax system introduced during the Khalji dynasty had a long term influence on Indian taxation system and state administration.
Alauddin Khalji enforced four taxes on non-Muslims in the Sultanate
jizya (poll tax), kharaj (land tax), ghari (house tax) and charah (pasture tax). He also decreed that his Delhi-based revenue officers assisted by local Muslim jagirdars, khuts, mukkadims, chaudharis and zamindars seize by force half of all produce any farmer generates, as a tax on standing crop, so as to fill the sultanate's granaries.
His officers enforced tax payment by beating up Hindu and Muslim middlemen responsible for rural tax collection.
Furthermore, Alauddin Khalji demanded, state Kulke and Rothermund, from his "wise men in the court" to create "rules and regulations in order to grind down the Hindus, so as to reduce them to abject poverty and deprive them of wealth and any form of surplus property that could foster a rebellion; the Hindu was to be so reduced as to be left unable to keep a horse to ride on, to carry arms, to wear fine clothes, or to enjoy any of the luxuries of life".

What does Modi got to do with all this?
Why don't they ( if they haven't already) make a movie about Modi's evils, then?I had no idea that A. Khilji was the greatest Delhi Sultane so I googled and his tax system is really somethingThe tax system introduced during the Khalji dynasty had a long term influence on Indian taxation system and state administration.

Islam and muslim culture is not that fragile to be humiliated by a filmmaker's vision of a particular muslim ruler.
Please grow up and stop associating honour with petty things.I loved the trailer .. it has NOTHING to do with islam, muslims and thier honour .. just like it has nothing to do with rajputs and thier honour .. Iislam and muslim culture is far superior than what SLB has the power to portray ,, please dont hand over power to a film maker to insult or glorify your religion. RIse above it!
Sorry but it aint. This is i left the religion 10 years ago. It is after that i started respecting my indian roots and my hindu and sikh brothers. When i was muslim, i was only taught to hate non muslims by my teachers, scholars and heck even my parents. Islam/koran itself asks us to hate anything non muslim. This is why so many muslims are violent.
Mongols from central Asia tried to invade Delhi during the reign of Alauddin many times. Some of these Mongol people also settled near Delhi and accepted Islam. They were called "New Muslims".
However, their financial condition was not good. Ala ud-din Khalji suspected them of being involved in a conspiracy against him and of being a threat to his power. He ordered his forces to eradicate them within a day. In 1298, between 15,000 and 30,000 men who had recently converted to Islam were slaughtered in a single day, due to fears of an uprising. The surviving women and children were made slaves.
1. The Sultan required extra wealth for the splendour of the Courland to enhance his own pomp and show. For this it was essential to introduce reforms in the revenue system.
2. Alauddin was an ambitious ruler. He established law and order in the country by crushing the rebels and conspirators. He required a lot or money to fulfil his desjgns.
3. The Sultan needed money in order to check the incessant Mongol invasions and to strengthen the north-west frontier.
4. Alauddin had an opinion that the landlords became wealthy and powerful without any labour and they conspired against the Sultan due to excess of money. The Sultan decided to reduce them to the state of the poor and the powerless, so "he introduced some changes in the land system.
5. In the revenue department Khuts and Mugaddams had become quite wealthy and powerful through corruption. They were also enjoying several privileges. The Sultan wanted to end their supremacy in the revenue department, so it became essential for him to introduce some reforms in the revenue department. Dr. P. Saran also remarked, "His economic measures were the outcome of an urgent and grave political situation.
