Today's episode was stupendous. Every week we get that one episode that just blows my mind and today was one of those.

First Vatsalya's poetry. Every time Vatsalya's poetry comes and especially he reads it, it seems like it'll shed some light on a family member. Today it was dedicated to Satrupa. I hope that as Anami reads these poems she takes them all to heart and it melts her stance towards Satrupa because she isn't as bad as Anami thinks she is. Yes she left Anami at birth and she uses her adoptive family against her, but she cares for Anami now and wants the best to her. The scene that stood out for me here was how on one side Anami is crying over not knowing Vatsalya and begging for one chance to get to know him and on the other side she's starting to see more and more of Narottam and starting to doubt it.

Moving on from that it's time to think about education. And what a scene! Yes it is important to question the prospective student and test her knowledge, but it's also important to see what the teacher actually knows. I'm going to break this scene down into a few parts. Bear with me.
  • Education comes from anywhere - Anami's flashbacks were to highlight that fact. She got asked questions that supposedly a kid at an international college is supposed to know, but your knowledge and teachings can come from anywhere. She read a newspaper title and knew the answer to the first question. She read a 2 rupee book on a bus and knew the answer to a question that not even a teacher knew. She spoke to a seller and learnt something that is not such common knowledge. Really education comes from anywhere. You just need to keep your eyes and mind open because you never know where it can come from.
  • Being an international college does not mean good quality teaching - True a teacher does not know everything, but the fact that they are arrogant over their international status means that it appears that they know everything. And if they don't, instead of turning to the Internet, maybe you should accept that you don't know and look to learn something new. At the same time, you shouldn't always run after the brand, but rather look for the quality whether it's knowledge or a cloth.
  • Arrogance leads to ignorance - The teacher was arrogant. He thought this jatahdari girl wouldn't be able to answer even the most basic of questions. In the process he became ignorant. Instead of using Anami's questions as a chance to learn something new, he chose to turn to the Internet for the answer. And even when Anami gave the answer, he rolled his eyes and ignored it, thus losing a chance to learn something new.
  • Appearance does not signify education - Anami was dismissed because of her appearance. The principal and teacher thought she wouldn't know anything. So they accepted her challenge. But they underestimated her. It doesn't matter what a person looks like. That doesn't signify education.
Overall the education scene was quite informative and well portrayed.

Now on to the final scene that I feel like looking into. Pujan phoning Oberoi. So far Pujan has been seen as a comedic villain. He makes a plan, it fails, he tries again, fails again, and so on. But now he is a strong contender and someone you can't underestimate. Behind the scenes he was working on taking over royal steels quietly. And he would have succeeded if Dheeru hadn't found out and told Adhiraj to tell the family, while phoning Baldev himself. Today the battle has changed. It's no longer just Anami's battle or Adhiraj's battle or a battle between Baldev and Vikram vs. Satrupa and Gayatri. There's now a new battle, between Pujan and Dheeru, and the biggest thing about this battle is that both aren't even aware that they are fighting each other. Dheeru did right by the innocent and informed Baldev and told Adhiraj to tell Vikram. Pujan only saw Adhiraj and assumed this to be a CBI interference. But now that Adhiraj has involved Dheeru in his battle for justice, Dheeru will continue to thwart Pujan's plans and Pujan's real face will continue to come out until both realize that they are really battling each other.

Finally a brief note on the precap. It seems that Anami has started to see through Narottam, but at the same time it might just turn out to be a question that opens up the chance for Narottam to tell his sob story and Anami gets drawn into it. But then again, given that nothing is as it seems, it might just be that Anami has started to suspect Narottam.

Overall a splendid episode especially the college scene and Anami and Vatsalya scene.

Information is liberating but knowledge is power...

What an eloquent ode to the power packed episode, Shreya. Totally agree with you. The interactions at the college were spot on, well enacted and definitely aced up a few notches into the hearts and minds of young viewers who are inspiring. And what a masterstroke by the makers, sending the message loud and clear without diluting its essence, knowledge is power. And there is nothing that can replace it. The deliverance yielding the fact out that one dosnt need to be formally from a top rung establishment to imbibe what has been imparted, its a state of mind, a mark of an astute mind that Anami was portrayed to be, while a highly impressed Satrupa looked on.

Both Mahima and Narayani were stupendous in the scene. And the expressions were spot on. So while Anami took on the interviewer, lo and behold, Satrupa secretly acknowledged the education that the Pathaks had imparted to Anami, the knowledge definitely going beyond the realms of just theoretical and bookish paradoxes.

Pujan and Dheeru, well picked on. They are the real fighters who would be pitted against each other in the guise of Singh's vs Adhiraj. And I have a hunch that sooner or later even Anami is going to be drawn into the battle when she would be perched opposite an unsuspecting Adhiraj. But all in good time.

The precap was such a mood lifter but I bet, Sudha's entry into Lal Mahal is going to be a mood dampener, and Anami will be the key to bring her there albeit indirectly as Narottam vouches for his mother's innocence and her rights, pegging Satrupa in the wrong light.

All in all, the dynamics are extremely volatile and the places chalked out for a war that will be. Bring it on I say.

Lovely review, Shreya. Didnt get a chance to post on your last review but I hope I have made it up for both with this one. 😃Thank you for writing and keep them coming.

I am so happy seeing Vatsalya and the precap.

The way Anami answered the questions reminded me of the Movie 'Slum dog Millionaire.

I liked that sequence alot.

I don't think it's about demands. It's about a relation she never knew. And now she's getting to know Vatsalya through his poetry. She wants to know him even better. Her demands are totally understandable.

Just imagine you suddenly found out you have a brother who is dead. You get to know him through videos, photos, FB, Twitter, a blog, but you don't really know him still. He's an unknown to you. Because you haven't fought with him over the TV remote. You haven't cried on his shoulder when you have a breakup. You haven't shared your deepest secrets with him knowing it'll be safe, though sometimes he'll blackmail you to get what he wants. You can never know those feelings, but you want to.

That's why Anami is demanding so much. She wanted a chance to really get to know her brother. To really feel that soul connection, that love, that beautiful relationship.

I love this show. Because it doesn't shy away from pushing the envelope in the name of sanskaar or whatever rubbish we are forced to hear. That college scene was good and u summed up well. There is a doha of great guru kabirdas. Dont ask the caste of saint. ask his knowledge, give value to the sword and not its cover. But arrogance is the mark of so called learned people. I still remember my b-tech days where I was a small town girl whose spoken English was not perfect and couldn't walk the ramp in fashionable dress. Was always mocked for not knowing the latest trends. But to solve problems will always rush to me. It is like talk to her she will manage. So I could very well connect to that scene as I had experienced such funda both in college and corporate world.

Such a well written post.

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education. Martin Luther King, Jr.

In a country and society where the meaning of education has become a mockery of its true purpose kudos to the writers for showing a much needed message to the viewers without making it dramatic šŸ‘

Anami may not fit the so called outward look of a sophisticated educational institute but what she lacks in looks she's compensated with her intelligence. Intelligence cannot be limited to scoring a certain percentile or studying in an English medium school.Being observant of ones surroundings developing a thirst for knowledge, training the mind to store things in the head together combines to make a good student.

Loved the three flashbacks that connected with the Questions asked!!
Kids these days have a very unidirectional approach towards education. A set of prescribed topics, writing down notes relevant to it mugging it up with the sole purpose of scoring a certain percentage. With that the teacher is satisfied that their job is well done, the parent is satisfied that their investment into child's education has become profitable while the student is clueless about what next.

Anami grew up in a very small town the people are simple in looks and in their way of life but they as a society are not illiterate nor clueless about things going around. I'm so happy to see the writers breaking the misunderstanding amongst city flocks that village means illiterate.

Newspapers have a wealth of information. The good old days where our Elders read page to page news early in the morning, the big bold headings that catch our attention 😳 that getting information from a crumbed piece of paper from shops šŸ˜† thanku writers for refreshing our memories.

Teaching methods too matters:Madhu's interesting way of talking about the rivers šŸ‘ learning is not a chore if it's done in the right manner. Satrupa herself acknowledged the Pathaks way of teaching and she herself was impressed by her child's approach to education. Only thing darling daughter was busy trying to prove a point to mummy dearest that she failed to see that look of pride and appreciation on Satrupa's face.

That conversation with the street vendor on ghats of Banares: learning has no limits. Each and everything around us can teach us lessons. Let's not put education into a box. Being open to the surroundings the people around us can teach us things that books cannot.

Arrogant Teachers like the one shown in the show are there for real but most often times these people tend to be stuck in their superior bubble like the fella. He should have appreciated and acknowledged the child's intelligence. Yes she was rude towards the end, she resorted to that only because the teachers were mocking her instead of living upto the motto that claim to be their institutions goal. Arrogance needs to be shown the door and Anami did just That.

Will they fulfill their part of the deal? Will they give Anami an admission there as she has kept her part of the deal? She has refused to study here but that remorseful look on her face when Satrupa vents out makes me feel she'll agree to study in this place only.

Anami is intelligent but character building is needed. Satrupa understands that her daughter has the brains but that intelligence needs to be channelled into the right areas. Character building comes with exposure to people ,places and situations outside of ones comfort zones.

While Reading vatsalya's diary will help Anami read a person like Narottam,Pujan or her father. She has to remember it's her brother's perspective on these people. The way they interacted with him differs with the he way they'll be towards her so she can't judge them based on Vatsalya's words alone. She needs to develop her own relationship with each of them, vatsalya's words can help her but that shouldn't become her opinion of them. Observe them, interact with them and make her own observations.

Narottam and her interaction in the precap may be her way to analyse him, but being the manipulative person Narottam is, it can be an easy route for him to convince her of his sob story!!

This story is doing well, hope they continue this way
