Chapter 42~Baby Shower Function

It was a lovely morning, eight months had passed by Meher's pregnancy and today was her baby shower. It is said that after eight months of pregnancy, the baby and mother are safe. However, in some families, it is celebrated after the eighth full moon. In this function, the soon to-be-mother's lap is filled with gifts, clothes and cash. Same was planned for her as well. According to their family, it took place at night. So she was resting till then. She was sitting on the bed in half laying position and wasn't allowed to do any work. Abeer had gone to office just for her sake, he didn't want to go there leaving her behind but he went on her insistence. She was very bored so she opened the laptop. She got a video call and wondered who it might be. She received it and a smiling face of the love of her life appeared on the screen. It was Abeer.



M: (surprised) Abeer tum?
A: han main, wasn't expecting me? Baby doll, ab to babies ki maa ban'ne wali ho, sirf ek month bacha hai, phir to sirf tumhari goad hi nahi, balke humara bed bhi bhar jaye ga. Can u imagine three little kids? Wow, ab bed pe 5 log soyengay, how cute na?

Meher: (laughingly) Abeeer, he he, so funny, don't worry main unke liye cot ka intezaam krdungi, ziada occupation bhi nahi hogi.



A: (laughing on her) occupation? He he, occupation job hoti hai dear, jaga occupy nh hogi, aise bolo.
M: (sadly) Abeer, jabse babies aye hain, tab se tum mera bohat mazak uratay ho, jab paida hongay to kya karogay?

A: uh oh, tum to bura maan gai, main to bas bata raha tha. Achha tumne khana khaya?

M: han kha lia.

A: hmm, don't keep my babies hungry.

M: ohooo or mera bhooka rehna swikaar hai aapko?

A: bilkul nh, mere bachay meri dharkan hain lekin tumhare andar meri jan bassti hai, munni.

M: ek to romantic baat kehte ho phir chiratay ho?



A: nh Meher, chhoro na, kya tum bhi?

M: achha tumhe office mein kaam nahi? Tum office mein ho na?

A: arey meri jan, office to kya, kahin bhi dil nahi lag raha mera, abhi to kaha k meri jan tumhare andar bassti hai, kaise kahin dil laga loon tumhare bina? Main pehle hi kehta hoon, main 2 ghantay pehle hi ghar aaunga, or mere papa ji come boss mujhe mana nahi karengay.

M: (smiling at him) achha achha theek hai, mera bhi to dil nahi lagta tumhare bina, (she gives a flying kiss to him) chalo ab tumhara bhi time waste horaha hai, khamma ghani.

A: waste nh horaha, pass horaha hai or itna jaldi guzar raha hai k pata hi nahi chalta.

M: oye hoye mera majnu monster, chalo bye baby.

Video call got disconnected. At night, the baby shower started. Meher was dressed beautifully. Abeer came to their room and saw her sitting holding her stomach.
A: baby, what happen? Babies ne kick mara?



M: han

A: its a good thing, now the function has started, chalo chalein.

He took her hand and they went outside. Abeer had their house changed as he became rich now. They sat together and everyone congratulated them keeping gifts and cash in Meher's lap. Everyone made her eat cake and she fed them back, she ate less and the function ended with lots of fun. As it was the last month of her pregnancy, she went to her parents' house. Abeer didn't let her climb the stairs and picked her in his arms.

M: father daughter wali feeling arahi hai
A: matlab?
M: Maa bhi mujhe stairs nh charnay deti thi or isi tarha uthati thi bachpan mein, I was able to walk then also, papa bhi yehi kartay thay.
A: I already told u that I have four babies including u
M: lekin tum thak jaogay.
A: nope

They reached and he kept her down.

A: tum mere liye ab bhi halki ho baby he he

He rang the doorbell and Shakuntala opened the door.

M: Maa

She kissed her cheek and they came in.

S: tumhare liye milkshake laun?

M: han

S: OK

She went. Meher and Abeer sat on couch and she rested her head on his shoulder.

M: Abeer we forgot something
A: what?
M: babies names, we thought of twins names but not triplets.
A: we'll think in baby name ceremony.
M: but u must've thought of something.
A: Maya, Haya and Aanya, what u think?
M: good idea, the best one.

Shakuntala gave them milkshake.

Abeer whispered: sirf yahin par aise pi rahay hain nahi to apnay ghar toh ek hi glass se peetey hain

M: shut up else I will give a slap
A: kahan pe?

She started giggling.

M: chup kar k peelo
A: OK monster ki pari.

The doorbell rang and Shakuntala answered the door.

S: aap itna jaldi agaye?
An: han sirf apni gurriya k liye, kahan hai vo?
S: andar hai

They went inside and saw her laughing as Abeer kept on teasing her.
A: bas haan or nahi peeyo, triplets honay walay hain, kuchh time me waise hi moti hojaogi.

An: nahi hogi, vo apne aapko maintain karegi.

Meher turned to him and smiled at him, she stood up and hugged him tight.
M: papa ap agaye, thank u so much, I love u
An: (hugging her back) no problem and I love you too

She broke the hug and saw shopping bags in his hand.

An: yeh tumhare bacho k kapray hain

M: wow, so cute, thank you, lekin yeh nahi pata k larkay hain k larkiyaan

An: clothes are for both, aaj Tarun araha hai, vo bohat khush hai tere liye.

Tarun~Meher's adopted brother, his parents died when he was very little and her parents saw him on road so they adopted him and he created a good bonding with Meher and her parents in a short span of time. In world's eyes, they're not real siblings but in reality, they have love in between them more than real siblings do.

M: Tunnu araha hai? Yes yes yes! Can't wait to meet him. Abeer, tum bhi us se milogay to tum log ki bohat achhi bonding banegi waise bhi tumhe bhai chahye tha.

Abeer smiled at her and hugged her.

M: Maa Tunnu araha hai to main us ke liye uski favourite dishes bana deti hoon, itnay time se main ne usay bana kr kuch nahi khilaya.

S: theek hai lekin main bhi help karungi.

Meher nodded and they went to kitchen together.

Later that day, the door bell rung and Shakuntala opened the door.

S: agaya tu? Mera bacha.

She kissed his forehead and hugged him. He came inside and she took the bag from his hand. Tunnu had been staying in hostel since two years, the hostel was built two streets away from his college and so they admitted him there so that he can study well and make new friends. As Meher saw him, she came towards him and hugged him a little tight taking care of her big baby bump and so did he.

T: Namaste moti, ab to aap sach mein moti hogayi ho to ab main apko jee bhar k bolunga.

A: oye chhotu, didi hai vo teri

T: namaste jeeju, main humesha se inko aise hi greet karta hoon.

A: it's not good, she's elder than u, sorry bolo.

M: Abeer, chhoro na, bacha hai.

A: vo bacha nahi hai.

M: relax, itne time baad vo ghar aya hai, or waise bhi ye humari bachpan ki aadat hai, ye to kuchh bhi nahi, main to isay tondu bulati hoon.

She laughed and Tunnu glared at her as she said this.

A: tondu? Ye kya hota hai?

M: jiska pait bahar nikla hua hota hai pehlwaan ki tarha.

Abeer too laughed and they had a high five.

T: jeeju ab aap hi batao main kahan tondu hoon?

A: tumhari didi bhi pehle kahan moti thi lallu?

T: he he, by the way how many times u did it?

A: what?

T: samajh jao.

Abeer and Meher looked at each other then lowered their eyelids shyingly recalling all their passionate nights they spent.

M: tu bhi jab shahdi karega na tab pata chalega kitna embarrassing question hai ye, tondu kahin ka, ab khana to kha le tondu.

She said while giggling and they dined together.

Lakshmi was sitting watching television when suddenly the doorbell rung. She went running to the door thinking Abeer has come but seeing the person on the door, she froze on her place.
L: aap?

She moved back as the person came in.
L: aap kyun aye ho?

person: kiun k mujhe yahan aanay ka pura haq hai, Mrs. Lakshmi Dayal Malhotra, shayad tum bhool gai k tumne mujhse kabhi divorce liya hi nahi tha, tum bhaag gai thi usi din jis din Abeer bhaga tha, main tumhara pati hoon.

L: dekhiye please yahan se chalay jaiye, main aapke saamne hath jorrti hoon.

D: na jaun toh?

L: main police ko bula doongi

He angrily pushed her on the floor and she winced in pain, her eyes became watery.


D: tumhari himmat itni barh gai k tum police ko bulaogi? Theek hai police ko toh kya, jisko bulana hai bulao, Abeer or neighbors, whoever, bulao bulao (on seeing her quiet he said) aww koi nahi hai ghar pe? Tch tch tch, abhi to main jaraha hoon, lekin main wapis zaroor aaunga.

He walked out of the house. Tears rolled down her cheeks and she stood up and went to her room cryingly. Meanwhile in Meher's maayka, Abeer told Meher to stay there and that he will go to Lakshmi. He reached there within sometime and unlocked the door and went inside towards Lakshmi's room and as she heard footsteps, she laid down acting like sleeping wiping her tears. He came there and saw her asleep and covered her with duvet and switched off the light and went from there.
