i can give you the reference of iron man 3 it was the costliest movie of all the ironman series and due to smart planning and better presentation it made wow business
just we can't say SLB likes to make huge grand films...any director wants to make large films...
Point is why he keeps going over budget ...
iron man 3 also had 2 very successful movies made before it, they must hav known that they hav more of a chance to use a higher budget as its already a successful franchise
maybe coz of BM's success slb feels he can use a higher budget with Padmavati, but slb has always had very high budgets for his films, i remember thinking is he crazy wen i heard ram-leelas budget was 90 crs and i thought the movie was gonna flop coz of the bidget, thankfully it earned over 120 crs but still only got the hit tag, same with BM we were all worried that it will flop, and thankfully again it earned enough to get the hit tag, with Padmavati we can only know once the film releases
