Karan p.o.v.
It was morning and Karan was supposed to be getting dressed to leave for office. He was in no mood to go for work and wanted to just stay at home with his wife. All his life, he had wished he could go out and be like others and not stay locked up in a room but for once he really did want to be locked away. He could smell Naina's fragrance in the room. She was probably going to give him a earful. But he nicely pretended to sleep nonetheless. He felt a tap at his shoulder. Karan uto, utooo, tum late ho rahe ho, she yelled. He grumbled and turned to sleep on the other side. Mujhe nahi jaana, sone do mujhe, he replied.
Nahi Karan tumhe Jana hi hoga, papa tumhare intezaar kar rahe honge, uto. She pushed him now. He opened his eyes. She looked gorgeous with her wet hair dripping around him. Uto uto she yelled as she kept nudging him. Before she could say much, he twisted her into his arms and she laid her head on his chest and he hugged her closely. Kya kar rahe ho Karan? Chodo mujhe aur uto, she squealed. Nahi jaonga, nahi jaonga, nahi jaonga. He stayed firm.
She squiggled in his arms and came up. She put her hands on his cheeks. Please Karan, mere liye. She gave that sweet look, and his heart was melting. Before he could argue she gave him a small peck on his cheek. Ab to jao. He grunted and nodded as he sat up, released her and went off to the washroom. He would never again sit and blame all those things he saw in films where men had to agree to their wives. After all he could never disagree with his.
Naina p.o.v.
How am I going to tell him? He is probably going to be really angry but I have to tell him. She was playing with her saree when she saw Karan come out of the bathroom grumbling. Kya hua Karan? She asked concerned. Dekho yeah shirt bhi nahi chaata ki mein aaj office jaon. She looked at his half open shirt where the button was clearly missing. She smiled. Bas, yahi problem hain, don't worry mein aayi. She went to the cupboard and brought her sewing kit. She slowly took a needle and thread in hand and came before him.
She could feel his intent gaze on her as she worked on fixing his button. His hands were slipping round her waist pulling her closer. Karan... she chided. Agar mein ghar par rahoonga toh bohot kuch kar sakthe hain, he smirked. She blushed and pinned him. Ouch, he winced. Dekho tum aaj office jaa rahe ho and that's final. Itni din papa ne akele he sab kuch dekha tha taaki hum sab honeymoon jaa payein. Waise bhi tum ghar rahoge tab bhi koi faidha nahi hain. At that a small crease appeared on Karan's forehead, she said as she continued sewing. Kyun? He questioned, holding her arms tightly as she snapped the string off his shirt finishing her button. Woh mein, actually.. she blundered.
Naina beta, called Nirmala maa as she walked into the room. Karan quickly let go of Naina. Beta tum ready ho, gaadi bhi neeche thayaar hai, she asked looking from Karan to Naina. Karan gave a quizzing look to Naina. Nirmala noticed this. Naina tumne Karan ko bataya nahi ke tum Boondi jaa rahi ho apni di ke saath. Naina watched as Karan's face fell. Woh maa, mein.. mein bathaane he waali thi, Naina mumbled. Haan Karan woh bas do din ke liye jaa rahe hain, tum pareshan mat ho. Unke liye bhi tum logon ne gifts kareedhe the, mein usse waise bhi bejne waali thi par phir sochi kyun na dono bahuon unke maa ko na mil ayein. She grinned. She patted Karan on the shoulder as she turned around and left.
Karan silently cursed himself. Why had he been so nice and bought gifts for the others. He should have just kept to himself. Isi liye mujhe office bejhna chaati ho? He asked. She nodded. She came close and put her arms around his neck and started doing his tie. Dekho mein jaldi jaa kar maa se milke aur sabse milke aajaongi, she pleaded as pulled up the tie. She put her hands on his cheeks, I love you, aur mein bhi tumhe bohot miss karne waali hoon. Please tum udhas mat hoo. Agar mein tumhe aise dekh kar gayi toh mujhe accha nahi lagega, she begged.
She felt Karan forcing a smile. I love you too. Jaldi wapas ajana aur mujhe call karna, he asked. She nodded and gave a small peck on his cheek. Agar tum kahin aur jaa rahi hoti toh mein tumhe Jaane hi nahi deta. Par wahan Shardha maa tumhare liye wait karengi aur isiliye tumhe jaane ke liye haan key raha hoon. She smiled. She loved him for being this understanding. Always her hero. Chalo, he said as he helped her stuff down the stairs. She left the room behind him carrying his office files and bag.
Karan p.o.v.
Once breakfast was over. The ladies had said their goodbyes to the family and Karan was giving her a one final squeeze as she got into the car. As she waved out of the window, he gave her a flying kiss and she caught it, waving back. He had gone to office after that. There were so many pending files on his desk but his heart wasn't in it. He stared at the framed photo of him and Naina on his table. He traced her and whispered I'll miss you.
He had barely been able to work. Every file he seemed to open had Naina floating on it. He kept looking at the time wondering if she reached yet. Finally his phone buzzed and his heart jumped as he saw her name appear on the screen. As he picked up, she quickly told him how they were very close to home and she would call back in the night. He felt at relief that he spoke to her. She always brought a smile to his face.
Time went fast and he reached home, but home didn't feel the same. There was no one waiting for him at the dinner table, neither was there anyone putting out his clothes on the bed while he showered after a long days work. He closed his eyes and he could see his smiling, blushing Naina. He so wished she were here. As he lay down on the empty bed sleep didn't come to him, just dampness in his eyes and the yearning in his heart. He had called her just minutes before and she had picked up wasting no time at all. She must be missing him just the same. They had talked for a while until he heard her mum through the phone. He signed off with a small kiss.
As the clocked ticked twelve Karan still couldn't sleep. He rolled around and gave up. Pulling away his blanket, he walked down to the garden and saw the full moon shining brightly in the sky. Tumhare bina kuch ho hi nahi paatha hai Naina. I miss you so much. He gave a flying kiss to the moon and humped down into the chair. It was then he heard the silent footsteps approaching him. He was worried to turn around, it might be a robber. He felt a slight hand on his shoulder and to his surprise it was Kunal.
Bhai, tumhe bhi neendh nahi a rahi, asked Karan. Kunal nodded, haan Karan mein Meghna ko bohot miss kar raha hoon. Kunal now turned to look at the moon too. Bhai, Kya hum Bundi jaa sakthe hain? asked Karan. Kunal eyes brightened at this idea. Chahtha toh mein bhi hoon Karan par papa. Aur tum dono apni papa ke bare mein fikar mat karo. Usko mein dekh loonga, replied another voice. Karan and Kunal turned to see dadaji walk up to them. Dadaji aap... gasped Kunal. Haan mein, aaj bata nahi kyun mujhe tumhari dadi ki yaad aa rahi thi. Aur neche aakar dekha toh mere dono pothon ki haalat karrab hai. Dekho tum dono abhi Boondi ke liye nikal jao, mein yahan sab kuch sambhal loonga. Karan and Kunal gave each other a smile and wrapped dadaji in a hug. We love you dadaji.
