In Conversation with Sparsh' Director Ankoosh Bhatt
Kay Kay Menon's debut short film titled Sparsh', will release on 30th September on Large Short Films' YouTube channel. Its director Ankoosh Bhatt, revealed this exclusively to The Digital Hash. He has previously directed films like Mumbai Mirror, Bhindi Bazaar and 3 Dev.
Kay Kay plays a cop in the short film. "Kay Kay and I share an equation since we have worked thrice before. His only area of concern, for the film, was whether he was over-qualified for the role. He was very open about doing something online, the director shared.
Sparsh' is a film about people's perceptions and how the reality can be completely different from these biases. "We have so much of clichs in our own minds that we judge people on the basis of their appearances, without giving the reality a thought, the director adds.
The short film also stars Mishal Raheja, Prashant Narayanan and Puja Gupta. Sparsh' is produced by Barun Dash and by Sabyasachi Mishra under Social Diaries Production. Sparsh' was shot in Mumbai over a period of two days. It has duration of 14 minutes.
For a film-maker, coming from the Bollywood setup to a short film medium can be very different. "The budget is a challenge. The good part is that the medium is being accepted by all actors. The digital medium is a boon for film-makers. Apart from that, it is also a good medium for the actors to understand their directors. Ankoosh Bhatt also shared that he is game to doing more short films in the future.
Currently, the director is busy shooting for his Bollywood film Firrkie' which stars Jackie Shroff, Kay Kay Menon, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Karan Singh Grover, Sandeepa Dhar and Shibani Dandekar.
