This is my first try at writing a story so i hope it is nice and also please forgive the typos.
An Advay-Chandani OS.
Quagmire.
"Aaj Aag ko thoda Sukhoon mila hai,
Salon ka uska Intezaar khatma hua hai.
Ab Chandani ki bari hai jalne ki,
Kyunki aaj uska Imthehaan shuru hua hai.
Fear.
That was what gripped her heart suddenly as she stood there facing the man who reminded her of the fire that was burning the logs in the mandap' to her left. This felt familiar. Locked, held captive, forced to do what she did not wish to do. This was her home, this haveli was the one that made her feel secure. It assured her that no one would touch her here as long as she was under its soothing shade. But her one escape, her one safe zone had been snatched from her by this man.
He looked handsome just like the devil he was. And she felt like everything around her was getting heavy, even the air that she was breathing.
"aao Chandni. She heard him say in that sweeter than sugar tone of his. But the words froze her in her place. She looked into his eyes, where the only thing she could see was amusement dancing around something mysterious and dark. What it was she did not want to know coz her own eyes felt heavy from the unshed tears stinging her eyes. She looked to her left to see the beautiful mandap set with the pandit reciting something which she couldn't and didn't bother to hear. She looked back ahead to see past her tormentor into the eyes of her mother where now even the fake love and concern she was so used to seeing was missing. Her heart ached.
She closed her eyes to let the tears flow freely from them and took a deep breath. At the next second she pulled up her heavy lehenga, turned around and ran back to her room.
Advay had till now watched his frightened kitten like bride with amusement as she looked here and there trying to fruitlessly find a way out of this. She looked cute. Oh, who was he kidding. More than cute she had looked ravishing as she had walked out into his line of sight. His heart had skipped a bit when she had looked up into his eyes with unshed tears glistening in hers. But the moment she turned and ran away his impatience gave way to his rage. She was simply stalling the inevitable with her antics and he was too close to his first win to let her feeble attempts at trying to stop this hinder him.
Advay steeled his eyes and walked after her towards her room.
When Advay walked in he had expected to see her sobbing into her pillow or something. Instead he found her sitting on the floor, eyes closed, her knees pulled up to her chin, her arms around herself rocking herself back and forth mumbling something incoherent. He was surprised a bit but he was not going to let her know that. After all he was sure this was one of her acts to gain sympathy from him and have him break this marriage off. So, he simply turned around and closed the door.
Chandani stilled the moment she heard the latch fall in place. And then her heartbeat suddenly started racing. She popped her eyes open and saw him standing at the door. She shrivelled up more if that was possible. As soon as he started to walk towards her, her eyes fell to his feet as she saw them make their way to her. They stopped just in front of her.
Before he could bend down to touch her she mumbled out.
"Please.
Advay stopped in his motion. His eyebrows drew together.
"Please what Chandni? he asked in his silken voice.
"Not here.
Advay looked at her confused. He had no idea what she was talking about.
He heard her sniff and that made him a little uneasy.
Chandani shut her eyes tight hoping that all of this will just go away. Then she suddenly stood up almost taking Advay by surprise. Fisting her hands on either side of her she finally said, "I won't marry you. This...you...this is a crime. Even if we get married once you let me out I will get you arrested. I will make you pay...
"Really Chandni? Advay cut her off as he took a step towards her. She instinctively took a step back.
"how can you get me arrested when you will get married to me with your own consent?
Chandani looked at him scared and confused, like he had lost his mind.
"I just said, I will not...
"Suvidha is a nice orphanage right.
Chandani froze. Now the confusion had all but disappeared from her features and only pure fear was evident in her eyes. Her lips, and knees started trembling and she lost her balance only for Advay to catch her before she fell. He slowly dipped his head so as to whisper in her ear, "need I explain anything more.
He felt her go still in his arms, her trembling stopped. He knew he had won and a lazy smirk made its way on his lips. He steadied her and let go of her carefully as to not jostle her. After all she looked like a fragile glass doll right now. One slight push and she would break. Somewhere deep in his mind his conscious reared its head to tell him to stop right there. And he gave into its whim since he had already won this battle.
Slowly he turned his back on her and said with amusement, "now shall we go and get over with this wedding, Bhagyawan. He was mocking her and he really didn't mind. He could enjoy his victory a little couldn't he.
As he was about to take a step away from her he heard her say it again, "Please.
He gave out an exasperated sigh and asked again, "Please what Chandni?
All he heard was, "Not here.
He turned around only to be shocked to see how dead she looked. A glass doll in true sense, completely devoid of joy or anything remotely close. He closed his eyes. This was an illusion. She was an illusion.
"Chandni. He said through his gritted teeth. "what do you want?
"don't do this here. He heard her soft and shallow voice. He folded his arms and just stood there waiting for her to complete her request.
Finally, Chandani voiced out feebly, "don't do this wedding here. This is the only place where I feel safe. Don't take this one thing I have from me. Please.
A lump formed in Adavy's throat as he felt a stab of pain in his heart. He almost agreed to grant her her request but stopped at the last minute. This was a plan, his mind told him. A plan to open the doors and ask for help from the outside. She was lying. He swallowed the lump down as slowly his anger took over his senses. He felt disgusted that she would use even the smallest of circumstances to manipulate him into doing her bidding. But this time he was not going to fall for it.
"Chandni. I told you right? Yeh ghar hi tumhara maika har aur yehi tumhara sasural hai. To shasdi to yehi hogi.
Chandani looked at him, her eyes pleading, which made him even angrier.
"in fact, let's do this. He said that angry evil glint dancing in his eyes. "as soon as we step out of this room, you will go straight to your dear mom and tell her that everything I said till now was true.
He saw Chandani shiver and it gave him and odd type of satisfaction.
"you will tell her that you love me and want to marry me. That you lied because you didn't want to break her heart but now you can no longer hold back your love and want to marry me of your own accord.
"nnoo...no...i...i..can't stuttered Chandani but Advay stepped closer to her, towering above her.
"you will and you have no choice. You either do that or I will go and tell her about her grandchild growing up in the orphanage.
"please...please...please don't...do this..
"let's go Chandni.
She hadn't even finished when she felt a hard smack on her face. Her mother had hit her.
"maa maat kaho mujhe tum. You are dead to me. She heard Indrani say with controlled rage.
It was done. Her last hope to have her mother genuinely love her was shredded to pieces and the worst part was she had been forced to do it by her own hands. She numbly turned around only to walk into Advay. She had no idea when he had come so close to her and honestly, she didn't even care anymore.
Advay on the other hand did care. He may hate Chandani but no one and absolutely no one had a right to slap her, not even her own mother. His blood had boiled when he had seen Indrani raise her hand up to hit her but he had been too slow to reach her in time and the sound that cracked so loudly through the otherwise silent hall made him see red. He felt Chandani walk into him and he wanted to wrap his arms around her right at that moment. The inexplicable need to sooth her pain was so strong that he had to physically restrain himself from acting on it.
Slowly he forced himself to turn his eyes away from the woman he was shooting daggers at from to the woman he was about to marry and make his. He saw her quietly step on to the mandap and take her seat and steadily followed after her.
As soon as he put the sindoor into her hair partition he felt go completely limp as a lone tear made its way down her cheek. This was just fine he told himself. This is what she deserves. His long-awaited revenge was just beginning now. There was still more to come.
He heard that stupid PP's mom say something but he tuned it out because right now he only wanted to take in the sight of the woman in front of him adorned in symbols of her belonging to him. But even then, the word characterless' made its way to his ears and that ticked him off. He turned around only to see Indrani walk upto PP's mom and actually agree with her hands folded that she was right and Chandani was indeed a characterless woman.
He was about to interrupt when he heard a stifled sob from the small petit body next to him. He turned to her and said softly, "Chandni.
Maybe it was the genuine concern in his voice that reached her because this time she looked up at him hopeful of something. But before he could say anything he saw from the corner of his eyes Indrani make her way onto the mandap.
She came and stood in front of Chandani and said, "everyone kept saying to me ki aapki Chandani mein daag hai par aaj mujhe pata chala ki yeh Chaand to pura kala hai.
The anger behind those words was what made Chandani take a step back from her mother. And in the next moment she knew that the hand raised would hit her in her face again so she shut her eyes closed waiting for the impact to hit. But it never came. She slowly opened her eyes and to her surprise she found the broad back of her husband shielding her wat from the angry gaze of her mother.
Advay had let it happen once but damn him if he let it happen again. Before the strike could connect he had caught his mother-in-law's hand and stopped her strike midway.
"Saasu maa. He said with controlled rage and deadly edge in his voice. "this is my house and so this house also belongs to Chandni as she is my wife. And that's the only reason why you are in this house right now since you are her family. This house now also belongs to you. But not Chandni. She is mine and only mine and I have not given anyone the right to hurt her and looking over at PP he finished "or touch her without her permission.
If looks could kill Indrani Narayan Vashisht would have murdered the man in front of her long ago. But the man in front of her was Advay Singh Raizada, who was a man no ordinary person could just get rid of. Indrani's gaze shifted from him to the whimpering and shivering mess behind him. She would destroy Chandani but to get to her first she would have to break this man in front of her who was now a shield to her step daughter. Didn't matter. She'd win in the end no matter how tough the battle was.
Advay on the other hand couldn't help but smirk at the way the rage on Indrani's face subsided to give way for confidence. She thought that she would win since she was an old player full of experience but she didn't know that Advay had an advantage too. He knew what Indrani was capable of but she knew nothing about him. And that was why he was going to win this.
"you don't even know her yet Advay. And soon you will come to know what she has done till now.
Her words irked him. He knew Chandani. He knew her better than anyone. He knew what a beautiful lie she was. But he also knew Indrani well. And he didn't feel like answering her right now.
Catching hold of Chandani's hand behind him he started making his way down to his room with Chandani tagging behind him.
When Advay entered the room that night, he was taken aback by the darkness. He sighed. Another drama. He turned around and locked the door shut only to hear a mummering come from the direction of the open window from where a small ray of moonlight was hitting the bed. He put his hand up the wall and searched for the light switch, flicking it on when he found one.
He was rather shocked to see Chandani again in the similar position he had found her a few hours back in, sitting under the window on the floor.
"Chandni he slowly approached her. But as soon as he tried to touch her she jumped up away from his touch trembling. The action hurt him for an unknown reason. She had never shied away from his touch even when they were practically strangers so the reaction took him completely off guard.
"I won't touch you. He said without even thinking. "I promise.
It seemed to have the desired effect coz slowly Chandani stopped shivering.
And the all of a sudden like a switch had been flicked on her face grew fierce and she stepped closed to him only to push him away with all her might. Advay was not expecting that and hence slightly lost his balance knocking a flower vase off the table in his bid to steady himself. As the glass shattered on the ground he saw Chandani come again to hit him and moved forward to catch her striking hand in one of his and restrain her bodily by wrapping the other around her waist.
"what the hell Chandni!? he growled.
"Why!? she screamed. "Why!? Why!? Why!? Why did you do this to me? she screamed, tears running down her face fiercely.
"Calm down first. Advay said pulling her a little closer to his body just to make sure she wouldn't be able to strike out again. But it seemed like the surge of energy had been spent already and she fell forward on his chest her weight now completely supported by him.
"just to remind you Advay said calmly, "you said you'd rather die than marry me yet you married me.
"I did die. She said softly into his chest.
That made Advay stop. He wanted to pull her up and take a look at her face but he couldn't so he tried to get the answer from her.
"what do you mean? he asked softly, her breath hitting her hair.
"I lost my mother. That is as good as death to me. She said, barely above a whisper.
The mention of her mother stirred something inside him and his rage returned this time two-fold. He pushed Chandani away from him. The sudden push threw her completely off balance and she fell to the floor. Slowly Chandani asked, "what am I to you?
Advay looked down at her but instead of helping her Advay kneeled down in front of her and slowly brought his face down to her level. When their eyes met again, a shudder ran down Chandani's spine when she saw the anger in his eyes.
"Tum kaun ho mere liye? he said rhetorically hold her gaze with his.
"Do you really love me like you claim to. She asked with a tinge of innocence and Advay almost laughed at that display of hers. Like she didn't already know.
"Really Chandni? Tum nahi janti. He said with a scoff. She shook her head in negative and that really offended Advay coz he wanted her to know what she was to him. He wanted her to know that he hated her. So he said,
" Tum meri chahat nahi, balki meri zidd ho.
Tum meri khwaish nahi, meri zarurat ho.
Tum mera sukoon nahi mera dard ho.
Tum meri mohobbat kabhi nahi ban sakti kyunki tum meri nafrat ho.
Chandani simply looked at him, sadly. Again she had not got her answer. He hated her she knew that. But why he did was never answered.
"now don't you want to know who I am, Chandni?
Chandani's eyes grew wide at his words. she nodded slightly even though she knew she didn't want to hear the answer to that question.
"Main wo aag hoon Chandni, jisme zindagi bhar jalna hai tumhe.
Main wo ghav hoon jisko salon sehna hai tumhe.
Kata hoon wo main jiski chuban ko roz mehsoos karna hai tume.
Kyonki main wo dard hoon jisme umra bhar tadap na hai tumhe.
"good night Chandni. Kal subah se tumhe aur bohot kuch dekhna hai.
Saying this Advay went to the bed and plopped on it switching the lights off and Chandani was still on the ground shocked at the words her husband had just said to her.
i wanted to write another OS after this so criticism is welcome so that i can write the next one better.
