During yesterday's episode twice - once during beautiful Shivika kitchen scene , and before that , also in the scene where Shivay came to Annika's room and asked Gauri to arrange for Raat jaga , I'd this weird niggling sensation in the backburner of my mind that Shivay is saying some thing that is reminding me of some thing else .. but I couldn't quite catch it at first..
Then it hit me !
It's Shivay's constant insistence that Annika's wedding will be a big fancy affair . Some how in between he keeps stressing on that.
"Shadi kar rahi ho Annika to Dhoom dhamake ke sath karo. "
" Mein tumhara wedding planner jo hu .. to tumhare shadi mein koi kami nehi hone dunga. "
Also , his dig on whether she wants her functions be held in a private , closed door manner..
" Kahi aisa to nehi ki tum ye wala function bhi us ke sath akele mein karna chahati ho.. chori chori chupke chupke.. "
The words rang out with a force , that could not simply be a case of jealousy .
Plus later I felt Shivay couldn't really believe that Annika got engaged privately because he could see with his own eyes how unhappy and reluctant she was during the engagement . Also he never asked for an explanation or clarification in the kitchen scene later whether or not she got engaged privately.
But he did say some thing very interesting to her, twice- " Sab kuch to tumhare hisaab se hi ho raha hai.. "
"waise bhi sab kuch tumhare hisab se hota hai" - uttered with a tone of helpless pain.
Now , why'd he say some thing like that ,when it's too much obvious that this marriage is not a happy one for her ??
He isn't talking about Vikram. He knows Vikram is not her choice. Had he been her choice, Shivay would'nt have spoken a word , let alone taunt her. Her happiness means every thing to him.
Hurt . Old hurt. Pure and simple.
Old hurt some times become a scar.
And this hurt dates back to the ill fated day of their separation.
Shivay had planned to propose and get married to Annika . He personally organized and looked after every little detail. It was supposed to be a cosy little family wedding , no tam jham , but those little arrangements were all done with his personal supervision, he was being the wedding planner of his own marriage .
He was brimming with hope, joy , dreams ,confidence of reciprocation and acceptance and blushing and reeling with love.
" Alu puri ekdum perfect ban ni chahiye.. "
He was completely sure this is how Annika would like it.
It all busted on his face. Annika started her attack from the wedding arrangements .
" ..To kya aisa hai aap ka standard ?? Ye 2 Rs. ?? "
" Aap ne mandap ghar mein laga diya.. "
" Shivay Singh Oberoi ghar mein shadi karega.. "
".. Jab ap ki shadi Tia se huyi thi, aap ne to sari duniya ko buliyi thi.. jab meri bari ayi to ye sabun dani jaisa mandap ? "
" ... Ap ko laga chalo sastein mein nipta lo.."
" Tabhi to ap aise choro ki tarha shadi kar rahe hai.. "
He was hit below the belt and how !!
He couldn't understand. He was looking at the mandap, as if gauzing what went so terribly wrong
and then back at Annika.. utterly dazed with shock !

" I thought you liked things that are private , personal.. small.. tumhe kabse faraq padne laga ?? Keuki jis Annika ko mein janti hu use dikhawa bilkul pasand nehi.. "
Now , let's jump to the Bhang wala episode.
Here also he started the topic by talking about that day , his efforts , his squashed dreams ..
" Tumne dekha tha na wo mandap.. mein tumse fir se shadi karne wala tha.."
And here they are . Finally Annika's marriage is happening and Shivay is organizing it this time too. But there are basically two difference.
Money is literally rolling . The arrangements are swell . It couldn't really get any more lavish than this. Shivay is ensuring that. This time there msut not be any " kaami". And she won't be allowed any private function.. No choro ki tarha , or chori chori chupke chupke this time. Nope.
Also this time , the entire world is present to see the sham , the fake rituals , the unfortunate unhappy doomed bride and a fake groom , black mailed and probably as helpless and unwilling as the two , and an unhappy doomed wedding planner . The happy glow is missing and the entire function resembles a shradh ceremony, with only the vamps happy .
Is bar sab kuch Annika ke hisab se ho raha hai..
But is Annika happy ?? She didn't mean those barbs on that day, and Shivay probably doesn't remember them consciously . But his subconscious remembers the humiliation , the irony of his efforts being thrown at his face.
Ye subconscious bhi kafi ajeeb cheese hai.
She does want the whole world to be present during her wedding . And we see that in the light off scene. It depcits an empty hall , with just one person. And that one person is enough. It's Shivay, her whole world.
Like she said when Shivay asked him before the separation day,
" Kuch chahiye tume Annika ? "
" Aap. Mera Bagad Billa. Tadibaj. "
Some times there is this one person , without whom by your side, every other thing is meaningless, futile, a cruel joke.
As was evident by her solitary tear that rolled on her cheek , as his ring got removed from her finger, a hollow feeling pervading inside her.
The things we say some times come back to haunt us. Irony of life.
