So finally Narottam s true face is shown today. Even though Vatsalya adored him , he just wanted to take his place . The way he calmly wore Vatsalya s jacket and sneered , I doubt he is effeminate. Looks like he is just acting to be all girly. Even he seemed glad that Vatsalya is no more.
The male lead had come to destroy the Lal Mahal and he also has some connections with the residents. The actor is the biggest weak link atm.
PS : the song played for Narayani when she was in flashback mode was so soothing. Any idea which song it is ?

Saw the episode and I completely agree with you. The male lead is rather ineffectual. Hope he amps his game up because when compared to the rest of the cast he is a weak link. His name is Adhiraj, so I guess we have to come up with a ship name for him and Anami😆

Woah, Narottam sprang a surprise today- on one hand he was crying, but his dialogue about how he wanted to fill Vatsalya's shoes- seems like a grey shaded character as of now. Let's see how he reacts to Anami...I may have to rethink some of the judgements that I made earlier about the characters😆

Narayani was amazing today as Satrupa: her anguish, the way she remembered chotu Vatsalya...😭 And her decision to end it all by pulling the trigger...

Narottam's resentment towards Vatsalya makes sense. He wanted to be in Vatsalya's place and be accepted. Maybe he now hopes to get some kind of acceptance with Vatsaya's death.

poor vatsalya...so many people envious of him/wanting to take his place...he really seemed to adore not just navrottam but his chacha too...to me it does not seem like navrottam was an active accomplice of chacha but that he was aware of chacha's plans and still let vatsalya go...sangeeta's character on the other hand could be an accomplice with the way she said "mere toh haath bhi laal hai"...but that too would be a bit predictable...may be her hands are red with someone else's blood.
Navrottam was humiliated by pujan singh's son and shunned by satrupa, his father, his grandparents and vatsalya never took an aggressive stand against this humiliation(that was his nature,he never took an openly rebellious stand for himself either)...so if all of navrottam didn't love vatsalya it is justifiable...if he was jealous of vatsalya and wanted to be in his place that is so justifiable too...but letting vatsalya go even if he was aware of the danger surrounding him is and getting over his death easily without any effort and behaving the way he did is what shows the evil in him

I like a few of the posts that pointed out Narottam's jealousy and rage were justified (unfortunately I'm not being able to like them for some reason).

I agree completely. Narottam has always been shunned. If it's because he's effeminate or for some other reason, it doesn't really matter. What matters is that he's been shunned. Sure Vatsalya loved him and stood up for him, but he never took a strong stand. It was more of a diplomatic stand like he's been taught all his life. And for Narottam who has been shunned since birth and raised by the maids, one person's love is not enough especially if that person is his younger brother (illegitimate or legitimate) and has gotten all the love that he deserved as well. In Narottam's eyes, Vatsalya is that person who stole his family from him, who stole the love he deserved from him, and then who "rubbed" it in by being Narottam's strength.

Kudos to the actor for portraying this jealousy and anger so well. It could have been overdone, but it hasn't been and I loved it! I went back and watched the scene a few times just because of the excellent acting. So far I'm really pleased with the acting department especially. No OTTness yet.

I am still not quite sure I wanna call him out and out grey.. He had led a life no child or human should be subjected to by his own family! His jealousy and wish to have the love, acceptance and even simple human respect that anyone should be given is more than justified!

I truly hope he didn't know what chacha had planned when he didn't stop poor Vatsalya from leaving..

No matter what he isn't in the line of succession if he is illegitimate (which is still to be seen as we never know) so even if Vatsalya isn't there he isn't eligible anymore than he was when Vatsalya was alive..

And I totally agree with the ones who said that the male lead (if he is the male lead) seems to weakest link in an otherwise flawless casting of characters.. I hope either he isn't the male lead or he pulls up his socks! Cz every other actor, every other scene, dialogue of this show so far has been impeccably perfect!!
I am totally sucked in to it just within one week!! Fantastic writing and execution!

Well he is the male lead for sure...agar sunglasses lagake raub jamaaye= male lead 🤣

Really hoping he does better though. In the scene where he vowed to wreak havoc on the inhabitants of Laal Mahal...kuch khaas nahi laga.

I'm on the fence. I don't (yet) think Narottam is outright evil and not even sure whether he knew what awaited Vatsalya when he let his brother escape from the house quietly.

When you are ostracised and bullied by everyone and not recognised as a legitimate member of the family, and the only one who speaks up on your behalf is your younger brother who is the ideal son of the house, much loved by the world, and who seemingly has no crosses to bear, unlike you, then a sense of envy and resentment is to be expected. Narottam can love his brother for being a good person and yet hate him for not being able to hate him (if you know what I mean). I can totally see why Narottam could have held a secret unspoken suppressed desire to be Vatsalya - be someone who doesn't constantly have to question their existence, be someone that everyone looks at with pride, be someone that his father cracks jokes with and indulges, etc.

I thought that scene was so well done. It had a sense of emotional complexity. In fact the entire ep was very well done with everyone's feelings for Vatsalya being explored.

Like Anami's dad said no one is completely good or bad and this holds true for Narottam too. His tears seemed genuine when he was lying on the bed.Vatsalya seems to be the only person who genuinely cared for him so I think his grief is real but he so desperately wanted the unconditional love and acceptance that he sees Vatsalya getting simply for being the legitimate? son.He saw Vatsalya leave but we don't know if he alerted Tez Khan and hoped his brother could be brought back quietly before anyone found out he was gone or he simply let Vatsalya go,perhaps jappy for or jealous if his brothers upcoming 'freedom'. It's human nature to be able to love someone and be happy for them and at the same time want the same happiness for yourself.
I think the grey leaning to black came to Narottam's heart on seeing Vatsalya's jacket. That's the moment it hit him that Vatsalya is really gone and he's analysing what that means for him. Brilliant acting, you can see years of pain and humiliation in Narottam's eyes.
I'm absolutely loving all the shades all the characters have. Can't wait for the story to unfold.
