A cute and simple movie. Breezy and humorous 1st half and a bit serious yet humorous 2nd half. SRK and Anushka both were fab. The film kinda reminded me of Hum Tum for some reason (very breezy first half and a serious 2nd half). 3.5 out of 5

Okay so I watched the first show today, and I was surprised that even being an early morning show it was quite full(~75%) and that too there were people of all age groups in the theater.
So the good points first.
SRK SRK SRK SRK- that man is all levels of charming!! He oozes charm in every freakin scene. You can't help but fall for his charm.
He's in his element after a long time. I guess it's true, no one does Romance the way Shah does it.
Also particular mention to his styling in this movie.
The pre-interval was too too good. The dialogues, the cinematography - PERFECT. We didn't have the sense of time in the first half.
Harry's characterization is also what I liked in the movie.
Also to the list of good things about the movie very special mention - the whole cafe scene right before the interval, damn gave me all kinds of flutters!! Too good that scene was.
Now the bad things:
I don't believe that for the first time songs in imtiaz Ali movie served no purpose at all, like no freaking purpose. Plus there were a lot of unneeded songs in the 2nd half that made it slow. The movie could have been a great great one had it been cut short by atleast 3-4 songs that did no good.
Also another problem which I felt was with sejal's inconsistent characterization. Her character got too inconsistent at times.Like music and characterization are imtiaz ali's Forte, didn't know what went wrong this time.
Overall review - an entertaining and fun watch with too many unneeded songs, with an awesome first half and a slow second half. I'll probably watch again for the first half.

Saw the film today, solely for Shahrukh and I just have to say that I'm utterly disappointed watching him waste his talent in films like these. The film has no story whatsoever, no connect to the characters and lacks logic entirely. Shahrukh was indeed the saving grace of the film. He looks his finest in this one, handsome and charming and he plays his character with the earnestness we are used to seeing. He is solely responsible for the audience sitting through the entirety of the film, I believe. Anushka was a total disappointment,she hammed her way throughout and I could not relate to a single scene of hers. Overall a very okay film, even for the Shah fans. Songs were okay, too many in number, special mention to Hawaein. Go with Zero expectations. Rating 2/5. 0.5 for Shah.
P.S. Imtiaz Ali's filmmaking license must be revoked.

Positives- I was really looking forward to the movie. Trailer and few songs I loved them. The movie is fun, nice, sweet, romantic and has amazing chemistry between Shahrukh and Anushka. Few moments are lovely and adorable.
Negatives- There was absolutely no story or plot. I just could not feel for the characters and could not relate to them. The emotional depth was completely lacking. Also the movie is quite boring and dragging in parts. Some songs are irritating.
I don't know if I should recommend this movie to anyone. It was fun, romantic and nice but without any story, substance, soul or emotion.
Fans of romantic comedies and fans of the lead stars might like it but the rest I don't think so.
Maybe it is Imtiaz Ali's worst movie but I still liked it because I just wanted fun and romance which it had enough.

I really enjoyed the movie. I genuinely went in to the cinema hall expecting very little after what I read but I absolutely LOVED the first half - it went off so smoothly and quickly. I loved the banter between Harry & Sejal!
The second half does falter no doubt! But don't most of Imtiaz ali films falter there? Tamasha got sluggish and I remember finding JWM's second half very slow in the middle. That's something he needs to work on.
Srk & Anushka FANTASTIC!!!! Like no fault at all.

Watched it. It was half full half empty. Most of the people were SRK fans wearing JHMS Tshirts.
Coming to the movie it is another typical Imtiaz Ali movie and it is only a small section of the society that enjoy his movies. I have mixed feelings about a Imtiaz movie otherwise but here I got bored very soon. SRK's charm was the only thing that got me going. Anushka was a total misfit. Her character did not help it either.
Something was terribly wrong with the screen play.
No chemistry between SRK and Anushka what so ever. SRK can romance even a pole but something was not right this time.
2nd half of the movie is what usually people base their impression on. If only they could do a good 2nd half the movie would do good.
The movie has its moments because of SRK but over all it is not a good movie.
Watch it if you like seeing exotic locations on big screen and a few good songs and don't really care for the story. Can be easily skipped by others.
Pros: SRK and only SRK
Cons: Too many. Bad story, terrible screen play, unimpressive female lead, not captivating, bad 2nd half.

Being a fan of cinema in general and with high enthusiasm regardless of the critical response I went to the cinema. Going to SRK movies is a celebration in itself. Watching his films in times of melancholy uplifts me.
But JHMS could not rouse my emotion. The emotion of love that SRK has taught all the 90s folks.Returned home disappointed to see what has become of my SRK ,I watched DTPH and wished I could go back in time. I wanted to freeze time. This movie has angered me.
Wanted to shout at SRK and say " this is Romance genre, damn it.how could you go wrong?" . This was utter juvenility.
The movie itself was travail to sit through.
Anushka is atrocious.
Imtiaz seems to be transferring philosophy of life in the most pretentious ways possible consequently delivering an absolute offal in the name of cinema.
Sorely disappointed.

Ranbir, Ranveer or Varun would've done more justice to this role. Songs weren't doing any justice like Beech Beech Mein and Radha popped outta nowhere. And honestly most people walked out disappointed before butterflys main chorus played.
Good things: Europe scenes. Whether Amsterdam, Lisbon, Budapest, Prague or Berlin most places were shot beautifully. Anushka was show stealer in first half. Rest sucked

Just back from the movie .a complete letdown ..no plot or coherent story which is why you feel restless ..So much tamasha over a ring which feels pointless after a point .
The initial portions are alright but post Radha song this goes on a downward spiral and never recovers ..The back side story of Punjab also not explored properly .Romantic portions flat ,dull ,drab..Too many songs make it unbearable..
Srk is alright .Anushka also does well..

Watched it , it was a pretty simple sweet movie which i think ppl will relate too , SRK- Anushka played their parts really well be it light hearted scenes , intense scenes or romantic ones & their chemistry was fire , better than their previous two outings . There were few negative things like the length of the second half which i believed should've been trimmed and 3 songs In span of 15 minutes ( although I loved Hawayein ) that brought some momentum down .. overall, quite satisfied with the movie as an SRK fan

Watched this movie now. Movie looked very dull. They could have brightened it up. It's a boring snooze fest only saving grace is srk . Anushka looks like a 'porcelain doll'. I really liked that hawaein song but they ruined it in the movie. It was like playing in the background. There are a few intense scenes but Anushka just ruined it . There were songs after every ten minutes and the songs do nothing for the movie. This movie will ride on SRK s start power otherwise it's a forgettable one.

saw the movie and i liked. theatre was housefull..Pls dont believe this propaganda negative comments. Ofcourse there are people who didnt like, i am not questioning them.
srk is pretty much convincing and anusha is brilliant. their chemistry works. i liked both halves of the movie. Good songs, safar pricturisation was nice and phur also rocked.

the initial interactions between and harry and sejal were really funny, the events which leads to the romance and to finale are convincing and moving. i loved the climax also.. do not want to reveal it so not mentioning what i liked.
those who say the movie makes no sense should know that both the characters were aware that they were not looking for the ring, its just that they were enjoying the company.
it may not be a great movie but definitely watchable.

Every single movie of Imtiaz Ali is so much about the inner journey of two people that it is always a real challenge for the actors to portray it! His movies speak about the aspects of the self like loneliness, betrayal, fear, turmoil which are so very common yet so difficult to portray and express onscreen.
As far as JHMS is concerned, I had to watch the movie twice to really get all those subtleties that are such big part of any Imtiaz Ali movie. The movie is about two individuals both in search of a ring while actually looking for something within themselves and in the other. It's about knowing who you are at the moment is not what you are. It's about the desire to break free from the shackles of the mundane, the routine and the so-called notion of you are to the 'real' you. That's all there's to any movie of Imtiaz Ali! And for someone like me, I can't expect anything better than this! And how beautifully is 'travelling' used to leave behind all the notions of who you are to becoming a more authentic self with all the vulnerabilities and fears right in place.

Here, Sejal craves to seem worthy in Harry' eyes. And for Harry her worthiness is way beyond the looks on the outside, unlike all the earlier relationships of his. They go through the journey knowing that they shouldn't be falling for each other, yet they do! I absolutely loved the scene where Harry refrains from getting close to Sejal in the dark closeted room even when he wanted to. And how beautifully does Sejal describe the real Harry in that scene!
So, please go and watch this movie if you are n of those ho could make some sense from the lines written above!
