OH MY GOD! I had no idea, I am so very touched and humbled and honestly, its not just bullshit fake "tee-hee, so honored, little ol' me!" crap here, I am truly honored that almost 6 years after writing something people love it and read and actually still relate to my work.

I re-read the story myself, first time in 5 years. Can I tell you? I kind of hate it! No because its good or bad or whatever, you all are the judge of content and quality, but because I have these odd memories of writing it.

I remember going around like an absolute zombie for three weeks while "A Girl Named Khushi" came scene by scene into my head. Literally came full formed, but in bits, and I wrote and wrote like an automaton. On the work laptop, on scraps of paper, in the car. I couldn't do anything--go to work, take a shower, chat with friends...without new pieces coming, dialogues, lines, tiny bits of plot.

And once it was out, IT WAS RUBBISH. Disjointed, didn't make sense, was utter crap, histrionic rubbish. I wish I could show you guys my original notes. I reformed the whole thing post by post, because though the original stuff was unprintable, but it still felt..real, and so I took a shot, and put it out there and ducked.

Anyway, that is my douchebag stroll down memory lane, my sincere apologies for sounding like a pompous fart, but it HURT to write that one! thank you, THANK you, for telling me about the Hall Of Fame thing...awesome!

You're more than welcome, Navin :)

Reading it felt the way you described writing it. The compulsion to have to read and read and read until the end. Without stopping. And with tears streaming down my face. I'm only grateful I found it after it was completed!

And you don't sound pompous at all!!! It's actually fascinating knowing how it came about and your feelings about it. I think a bit of "Friends, Readers, Forumwasis, lend me your eyes" is needed here!
