Amidst the terror attack and politicizing of the Amarnath yatra terror attack, the man behind the wheels Saleem Sheikh from Gujarat, who saved many lives, has won love and respect from across the country.

After being considered to be given bravery award, singer Sonu Nigam has awarded the braveheart driver with Rs 5 lakh.
A source close to the singer says, "Sonu was really moved by the driver's courage and his presence of mind. He made sure that the driver was tracked down and ensured that the money reached him safely. It's an inspiring gesture by him, as he made sure that such unsung heroes are awarded."
Confirming the news, Sonu told Mirror, "Such people are always given a bravery award or medal for their actions by the government. But they should be financially rewarded for their goodness and amazing presence of mind."

Although his tire was flattened and encountered with raining bullets, he ducked and drove till he reached a safe place. The bus had 51 pilgrims, out of which seven were killed in the terror attack. However, he is not the only hero who saved the lives on the fateful night. Bus owner Harsh Desai also showed remarkable presence of mind, who had asked Saleem to duck and keep driving.
Sonu has been the goodwill ambassador for Fight Hunger Foundation, which works towards eliminating malnutrition in India. Supporting the cause, the singer came up with a single titled Hope In The Future, highlighting this issue. He also launched a transgender band called 6 Pack and lent his voice to a song with the group.
