Voices: TV stars on Republic Day

As India celebrates its 59th Republic Day, we quizzed some telly stars about what the day means to them, their childhood memories and also their favorite patriotic songs.

Sharad Kelkar

"This day has a special place in the heart of every Indian. I'm not shooting and I'm surely going to watch the Republic Day parade at Red Fort."

Childhood memories: "When I was in N.C.C., we used to take part in the parade and now also I'm very keen to be a part of it. But I can't get up at 5.30 am in the morning now for that."

Favourite patriotic songs: "The title song of Rang De Basanti and Vande Mataram."

"26th Jan makes me feel proud to be an Indian. I have planned to go to my school to watch the parade and the interesting skits by the students."

Childhood memories: "I was a very enthusiastic student and used to prepare a lot for 26thJan as I was the commander of N.C.C. I also used to take part in Lezhim. It was great fun and to revive it I'm going to my school –Vidya Mandir."

Favourite patriotic songs: "Vande Mataram by Lata Mangeshkar."
