Hi guys, it's been a while. Finally caught up with all the episodes and while I have many thoughts on several scenes and character "developments" (read butchering), I feel time has passed and rehashing them now would be futile. So just gonna pen down a few thoughts on what is to come...
Starting off, I am really disappointed by the merger of DBO and IB. I have always loved O'bros first and then Shivika/Rikara/Rumya (have not warmed up to Bhavya, sorry), but even I don't want this merger solely for the O'bro appeal. They could have had the separate shows and had a mahasangam episode at the end of the month or even in couple of weeks to sync the shows/ wrap up tracks et cetera. In the meantime they can easily incorporate scenes with all the couples in both shows as they have been doing for the past few weeks. Main reason is because I want Shrenal and Lee to have their own show and space; they have always taken pride in being part of the first spin off, especially Kunal. This is a reward for their hard work and dedication and shows how much their characters were loved and recognized by all, especially Star Plus. By merging it would seem that the attempt has failed, although it hasn't by any means as show has maintained trps and attracted fans with a crap story/no story solely due to Shrenal/Rikara and Rudy and recently Bhavya. As nothing can be done now, I hope the cast is not disheartened and they get their due in this merger. Only Gul mata can think of scrapping the first ever Indian spin off, when Ekta is launching not one but two of her own in competition. đđđ
Speaking of stories though, I pray that they get a new writer for Rikara and Rudy stories. Hitherto Rikara have neither a story nor tracks, they only get scenes. That's it. We get all the right scenes, romantic scenes, eyelocks, caring scenes, drunk scenes, wardrobe scene, farewell scenes... you name it, but has their story budged an inch? Nope. Because there is no story. Scenes should serve a purpose - develop or bring progression to the couple and their relationship/story. But all we have got is SCENE. END SCENE. FULL STOP.
I don't know what the frigging problem Harneet has with Kunal/Omkara but why has he not got a proper monologue that would give the viewers an insight to what he is feeling? We know Gauri's perspective on the situation, but Om is gonna be a god damn father, but we have no insight into what he is feeling! So going by simply his actions, Om is coming across as a bipolar abusive a*hole. Nice going Harneet. I really hate you. đĄđĄđĄ
Post-merger, I really hope they show some mercy on Rikara and properly develop their story. I am delusional đ¤Şso I'm going to list what I hope we see for Rikara.
- In my opinion, the fake pregnancy thing should not be brushed away just like that. Gauri did what she had to do, but she did mess up with Om's emotions (his family's emotions are so fickle, I don't really care about them) as a baby is no joke. On the plus side, Gauri has realised this herself so I want an emotional encounter between them, where Om is conflicted- trusting her with regard to Bua ma but still wary and angry because honestly there are so many misunderstandings between them.
- Gauri should finally leave OM (please please please, at least grant this wish only). And her permanently hospitalized mom should die - yes I am a sadist and she is useless anyway. As Om is paying the hospital bill he should be notified that the patient is dying and go see her. Cue emotional Gauri- Om - dying mom scene. Om would support her despite being whatever he is being right now. Before dying her mom should allude to the Kali thakur fiasco, even if not in clear terms and should create a doubt in his mind and thus fulfil her purpose in the show. Om helping with funeral rites and silently supporting Gauri would lead to an emotional bonding if nothing else.
- Kali or his goons kidnapping/attacking Gauri at this point of time and Rikara escaping/saving themselves together and going to the police station who arrest kali
- Finally the truth about kali is brought to light and all misunderstandings are cleared. Heartfelt apologies from both Om and Gauri.
- Gauri leaves Om in the middle of the night, because she does not want to force the marriage on Om nor take advantage of him as she always stressed. She is independent and can totally take care of herself.
- Om searches for her using a PI (useless anyway), not out of love but out of concern given the fact that she is alone in the world. He does not find her
- Three months or so later, Om visits a place for his art work and meets Gauri who is working at the studio/has her own tailoring shop nearby. They meet and are cordial. Not in love, but there is a lot of personal baggage between them that could serve as a trigger for their story and relationship. Their interactions can happen during the course of their working together.
- There is a prenup floating around which could result in a court marriage, annulment of prenup and filing for divorce track which in some uncertain way can lead Gauri back to Oberoi mansion. Only this time Om should bring her with respect and as his legally wedded wife.
Yes, I want a reboot on the Rikara story and I am stupid for wanting any logic and reason. I REALLY love Rikara and most importantly I love Shrenal. I really love Kunal and Shrenu's chemistry and its only their acting that is the saving grace after the butchering of their characters. They deserve a memorable love story as they are superb actors. And also did I mention chemistry??? Damn. đł
Coming to Rudra Bhavya, I will forever hold on to the hope that Soumya would return. ACP story makes no sense actually. However, I will watch mostly on fast forward mode because Lee deserves his own story and track. An aside to Harneet, if you want viewers to accept the new couple maybe you should avoid scenes that remind us of Soumya like in scenes of Bhavya eating a lot or getting kidnapped and Rudra rescuing her, I was so pissed at Rudra đĄ and was thinking "Oh you never did that or said that for Soumya!"
Rudra as a character is a playful, pampered, image and body conscious boy with a very kind heart. He locked horns with the strong, feminist Soumya who was "healthy", he teased and bickered with her constantly. But he also empathized with her, understanding she was lonely without her family and extended a tentative offer of support and friendship. Even post the drunk marriage fiasco he had pangs of jealousy due to Rehan. There was a lot of scope for their story
The essence of his character is a sweet innocence. If they continue with ACP track I hope they don't ruin this.
