sky beam with stars, Winds waved cool around and the night smiled in secret. She steps out of her car with a frown and checks the car bonnet. Heavy smoke flew across the sky as soon as she opens the bonet , Her eyes roam around the four tyres, they too have busted. She brings her hand in hair and groans in frustration. Its still 3 hours to go, to reach Ladnu. Worried about her further journey she try looking for some help. she checks everywhere around her but finds no one. The beep of her phone brings her attention and she quickly gets it out of her pocket. The screen reads number with no name. Its strange to recieve such messages at this odd of night. The time bar on screens shows 2.30am with the battery power of 1%. She opens the message to read it. Her eyes widens slowly and her lips start to quiver. She pushed her phone back in her pocket . Unsettling feeling began welling inside her. There is something wrong in this place , her heart screamed - but her mind couldnt reason it. The wind almost turned in to storm and the trees around her danced wildly. Her heart started pouncing at a increasingly rapid pace. Twig!! she heard a sound right in front of her. Her fear got the better of her and she started to run back inside the car. Atleast there she will be safe; she thought. She sat there in her seat locking all four doors and windows. Time passed very slow in the car, her head turned here and there out of the car to check for help. The creepy feeling slowly rise in her spine and fear starts to roll off her body in the form of sweat.
"Dont be scare Kanak! There is nothing to be fear about. Just relax and take a hold of yourself. There must be some a...animal around , it will go. Just calm down! please" she spreads her hand on her face and wipes the sweat from it.
"Bhaiya. I should call bhaiya. he will send someone for help." hopes filled her heart and gave her new level of confidence. she quickly brings her cell phone out and taps on power button to unlock. " Damn!! battery died." she cursed under her breathe. she picks up her bag from behind and scans her hand incide to check for powerbank. she remembered asking bhabho to keep in her bag before she left. she really hope bhabho had kept it. she waved her hand inside every corner of bag, opening every zip of it. she even tossed and turn the bag to get the powerbank but couldnt find it. Her mind freezed at her helplesness. she needs to get out of here and that to now. Gathering her courage , she took a deep breathe and got out of her car. she checked on both side of her , it was a single road with absolutely no light on it. If it wasnt for the moonlight , she wont be able to see a thing. She clutched her jeans in her fist. Kanak started to take bigger steps just to pass the road. Soon she got far away from her car but yet this place looked like never ending road. she was sure she had walked atleast half hour now . but yet it didnt seem she was close to any residential area. Her body started to gave up and her bravery soon started to fade. her stomach churned in hunger. She felt her throat dry. Just then, a sharp light hit her senses. she crossed her arm accross her face. Then many noises followed behind it, she could distinguishly hear horn of the car, and then screech of a car. She didnt have any energy left to stand, and her body gave up. she felt the heavy weight of her conscience drowning . Her eye sight began to blur and she shuts them. Exhaustion , pain, hunger and fear made her fall without mercy. Just then, a strong manly cologne hits her nostrils and she felt a strong hand picking her up in his arms. The bracelet in the hand got stuck in her The only thing she clinged her life to to save herself. Her destiny...
**************
The warm rays of sunlight kissed her cheeks and wished her goodmorning. she shuts and opens her eyes before she got adjust to light in the room. She brings her hand over her face and groans. It was a terrible nightmare she lived last night. Forest, car, the run..and the car...everything. Who was the man who helped her last night? the thought crossed her mind. Her eyes partly beams with joy finding herself under roof. but whose house it is? she wondered. she threw the bedsheet aside and stepped outside the room. It was not a huge mansion, but more like a big old house. From the furniture to the walls everything around her told her about the years that they had exist . she gulped when her eyes fell on a painting right ahead of her. It was not any painting but a painting of a breathtakingly handsome angel. His eyes spoke volume, fun, love, care, and affection. His smile appeared contagious; childlike, unadulterated and sweet. He is standing with his hand raised in an angle like he is holding someone but the pitcher didnt have any other figure in it. Nor the hands very completely portraid his part from wrist was not there in painting. Her primary nature wanted to know the reason of hanging a torn and incomplete painting on the wall. she started walking away from painting on a realisation that she is still unaware of the owner of this house. She still dont know whether she is safe or have once again landed herself in new problem. Taking precaution she took slow steps ahead. after crossing few rooms she found herself standing on top of staircase. Kanak sighed a deep breathe of relief on seeing normal people working down what looked like living room. she had secretly imagined herself trapped in between bunch of psychos. she mentally laughed on her previous thought. Every soul down there were working hard on doing their everday chore. She could practically see lines on their forhead, they were worried. But why?
kanak took big steps and quickly got down of stairs. She noticed few head turning at her but as soon as they did , they turned back to their original work of cleaning. like thankyou for making me feel i dont exist! she spat mentaly. kanak fidgeted with her hand not sure what to do standing at the corner of room where nobody cares to notice her. But leaving the place before thanking the man who saved her last night wont be a good gesture! she argued herself. sighing heavily, she scrolled the room , she walked fast steps to the nearest vacant chair and sat. " i will wait." she whispered to herself. The watch made a faint sound and she saw havoc in the room, everybody started running to complete their respective work accross the room. Only seconds have passed and the room turned into pin drop silence. Kanak got a feel of rabit in light, she didnt knew what to do? so she simply kept sitting where she was without any movement , watching all the reactions coming across the faces of people in the room. She almost jumped from chair when she loud sound of door cracking pierced her ear. with that the door got opened and stood a manly figure. But the harsh rays of sun and the thick dense fog made it difficult for her to see the man at door. The heads of people in the room bent down in submission and everybody waiting for him to comein. Who is he and why everyone are giving him royal treatment? questions like this danced around her mind. she however succesfully threw them. " you just need to thank him and get out of this weird place." she reminded herself mentally.
she heard a soft gasp from the man standing near him. He had a cloth in her hand and by the look of his , he looked as if he is about to get punishment for something. kanak checked near him and spotted a statue with hardly any dust on it. why was he so scared? its just a little dust. i am sure the owner will pass! she thought.
Shadow of his wide auro entered before him and he walked inside the house. He is a tall man, with good physics almost like some Cliche magazine Male model. with one look at him, kanak recognized the man. He is the same fellow whom she saw in the corridor- in that painting. So, he is the owner. she concluded.
The man scanned his eyes in every corner of the room as he walked straight to where kanak is sitting. Kanaka saw him coming and she prepared herself for her first interaction with her saviour. she welcomed him with a bright smile as he stood right in front of her.
"you are still HERE?" he sliced at her, throwing dragger at her with his eyes.
Kanak smile faded and got replaced with a frown. May be it was a bad idea to wait and thank him. she should have left! she facepalmed herself .
The man waited restlessly for an answer. His mind and heart were not in place. The girl before him has magic . she somehow made him restless from the time he met her. He was passing by the road, when she saw her collapsing on floor. He himself dont know what gone into him that he almost ran his life and caught her before she could fall. He thought the whole night about his action but nothing reasonable came to his mind. He couldnt make himself leaving there, she needed care. He debated with his mind for the first time in age and got her to his house. Every body stood like gaping fish when he had got her in his house carrying her in his arm. He didnt even turned behind once when he straihlty headed to the guest room next to his. He walked inside the room and laid her on bed. His hands worked on their own and pulled the duvet on her ,resting it till her shoulder. His eyes lingered on the woman sleeping on bed, so innocent, so pure. her beauty had enhanced multiple times with the glowing moon smiling at her from window. He stood there for few more seconds before he left.
Kanak cleared her thought and he jolts back from the revirie of the thought. A faint shade of pink color spreads on his cheeks but he hides it,he is always being master in controlling and hiding his emotions.
" I said something. are you listening?" kanak asked in frustration.
"haan? haan!" he nods absentmindedly.
"i said i was here to Thankyou. but i think i have wasted my time. So sorry! to waste your too... " kanak on purposed pushed him with her shoulder.
"where are you going?" she heared him ask. kanak moved her head over her shoulder.
"Home." she paused " I wished i could say ' its was night meeting you.' but its not. i wish to never see you again." she breathed out before marching out of the house.
The man turned to look at the place where she was standing. He could still inhale the raw chandan fragnance of her. All the flashback of her with him from last night till now, runs before his eyes and his lips moved upward.
