I felt really bad for Rhea yesterday

Hi everyone.

Sorry I haven't been able to post more or reply on posts. I had two work deadlines, and I've finished one but am still working on the second. So will have to return when I'm done with them.

I haven't seen all the episodes, and I understand that I may not know as much about Rhea's character as those who have seen the entire show. But I felt terrible for her in yesterday's episode and here's why: no mother should tell their child that they are unfit to be married. And the other thing that her mom said "Rhea is my daughter but if I had a son I wouldn't want them to be married to Rhea,"

Here's the thing: marriages are not formulaic. Nor are they entirely predictable. You never know who will turn out to be a great partner, and who will not. The ideal person may make you miserable, and a seemingly self-centred person may turn out to be just the right sort of different from you, and make you happy.

I feel very strongly about this. I am not a conservative person, and through my life I've had opinions and ideas that were different. And I too heard that I wouldn't make a great wife. And it does stick in your head even if you try to not let it bother you.

And here's the happy ending. I got married, and one of the things my husband loves about me are my opinions and my ability to intelligently express them. That may not be what his parents would have looked for, or my family thought as my greatest asset. But it matters to him and I love that it is important to him. And because it is important to him the fact that we have great conversations and respect each other's opinion has become one of the basis of the strengths of our marriage.

It may not be the same thing for everyone. But, as I said, you never know what the other person is looking for, and what is going to make one marriage work over another.

Hi!
I agree. Even I felt bad for Rhea. She definitely does not deserve to be taunted continuously for her mistakes. And her mother constantly preferring Myra's marriage over hers can also be kind of depressing for her. But I also get Mrs.Kohli's viewpoint. I think Mrs Kohli doesn't have a problem with Rhea's outspoken behavior as much as she has a problem with her selfish behavior. Rhea's actions have always been self-centred and she does not even like Nikhil getting concerned for his family members. That is why in yesterday's episode she also mentions that Rhea might one day convince Nikhil to even leave his parents. And I somewhere get her ideology.

I am very sorry that you had to hear certain kind of things about you before marriage. It does affect us when we hear people telling us that we are not cut out for something. And it's great that you proved them wrong. More power to you! From what you have written about yourself it seems that you have strong opinions about things and I for one actually admire such people who don't bow down to popular ideology just for the sake of it. But Rhea's case is actually different. She already broke her engagement once for a petty reason and she doesn't realize that her impulsive actions are hurting the ones she loves the most. That is why I could understand Mrs Kohli's concerns.

Hi. Thank you for replying. 😊

Also, just to clarify, I'm perfectly fine now and its not a big deal anymore, which is why I don't really mind sharing it in a public forum.

And I do see your point about her doing things impulsively and hurting people. Which is why tactful handling brings out the best in her while accusations bring out the worst. I think people generally live up to the labels we assign them.

At last, sense prevails so that they decide to conduct both the weddings together... Not sure what this is leading to, though... But the previous decision to delay Rhea's wedding was senseless

Probably there will be a twist and I am sure Myrah is not gonna marry Akshay. What impressing in today's episode was the way Abha exposing her feeling towards Sandy, perhaps unknowingly and the way she is preparing herself for a second chance, as they call it, in life. What will happnen next remains to be seen, so far it is getting more and more interesting
