Neel was waiting for Avni to get out of the washroom. It was the first time ever he had brought her a gift. Second time he ever gave her a gift, he never could forget the miniature punching bag he gave her with his face on it, but this was the first time to he actually physically went out to buy her something. He wanted to see how she looked in it.
Itni bechani tumko kyun hor rahi hain, Neel. You know she likes the saari, dude. Neel battled his thoughts and began to put on his shoes on. Looking at his watch, he realized the party would be starting in 5 minutes.
He knocked on the washroom door a couple times before warning Avni, "Bas Avni, panch minute bakhi hain. We're going to be late.
"Maine kya tha to do your work instead of getting ready, Neel. Main bas abhi toh undher aayi hoon.
"Sorry baba. Lekin meri party main meh hi late hoon ga. Log kya kehen ge?
"Yahin ki police wala toh hamesha hi late ponch te hain. Now let me get dressed in peace!
Neel shook his head at her response. If it would have been anyone else who said that, he would have shown attitude at the response. But for some reason, her retort didn't make him offended. Instead he offered a chuckle.
"Hi nahi Tillu, tu yahan washroom door pe hi kara rahange? Party abouts to be starting. Aur woh Ananya madam kahan hain? Shweta came barging in.
"Woh, mom, woh washroom main hain, Neel replied, straightening up.
"Aur tum tab tak bodyguards hi bane raho ge? I swear to gods ji, tum johru ki servants ban gaye ho.
Prakash came in with bebe, quietening down Shweta's outlandish cries. Neel slightly kicked the washroom door behind him, in frustration. He wondered if the saree fit her or not. What was the reason that she still hadn't come out, despite all the commotion outside? Should he go inside and check? No, that would be crossing the line.
"Neel, beta, tum bhi humare saath chalo. Ananya tiar ho ke aaje gi, bebe told him calmly. Neel gave a look to his father, silently hoping that his dad will counteract what bebe was telling him to do, but Prakash agreed with her mother.
Neel nodded in defeat.
"Av-Ananya, main jah rahe hoon party mein. Tum bhi zaldi se tiar hoke aajon, Neel told the quiet door, ignoring the looks his mum, dad and bebe were giving him.
Neel looked back at the door one last time, before making his way down with his family.

Avni opened the door as soon as she heard the retreating footsteps. She hadn't planned it, but a part of her felt extremely shy. The saree was beautiful, but she was scared she herself didn't match the grandeur of the saree.
Kya main uttar doon? Nahi, Neel ko kaisa lage ka?
Avni began to do her make up. She wanted to keep it simple with most of the makeup, foundation, concealer, eyeliner, just the usual...maybe the wings of her eyeliner were a little thinner and longer, but that wasn't too different. She chose to put on a deep red lipstick to match the red saree and black chandelier earrings to match the work done on the saree. Curling her hair, she put it in a half up, half down do, much alike what she had in the sangeet.
Pairing the outfit with black heels, Avni nearly jumped when her phone buzzed.
Neel had texted her- Zaldi
Ye Neel bhi na.
With that she went on her way downstairs.

Neel's gaze kept falling onto the stairs, which was hard not to notice by the guests.
Neela smirked, going up to Neel and whispering, "Ab bhi kehta hon ki tum usse pyar nahi karte? Tumhari aankhen ab bhi Avni ke liye taras rahi hain.
Neel shook his head, "Aisa koi nahi hain, aunty, seeing Neela's quirked up eyebrow, hr further explained, "I just bought her a saree...as a friend... and I want to see if it actually looks good on her or not.
Neela bit the inside of her cheek to hide her laughter. But it was pointless. Neel wouldn't have noticed anyway. For now, Neel had finally spotted Avni coming down the stairs, and he had fallen into a reverie of his own. A trance that made him slowly walk up to the bottom of the stairs himself and hold onto Avni's hand.
