The Vigil Idiot Reviews "Half Girlfriend" - The WORST Film Of The Year, I'm Calling It Right Now

Chetan Bhagat's Half Girlfriend was a critically panned novel, so it was already gonna take something special to make a decent movie based on it. But when they cast Arjun Kapoor (playing village area protagonist Madhav) and Shraddha Kapoor (as angrezi-speaking Riya) - two star kids with a grand total of three expressions between them - you knew they had a very special shitshow on their hands. Now I haven't read it, so I can't say this for certain, but I'm pretty sure that even Bhagat isn't bad enough a writer for this film to be better than the book.

Bang on 🤣 I love his reviews!! This movie had got my head spinning literally had no logic to it whatsoever. And the Bill Gates part had me speechless I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at it.

I think it's the story which is so bad. Haven't read the novel but the story doesn't seem to have any logic really. Even if they were dying to make this movie, they should've changed like 80 percent fo the story lol. Not like we expect a lot from BW. Ya, but still. 🤣

The only reason Half Girlfriend succeeded as a novel and people were desperate to make it into a movie because it feeds into regressive narratives about women.
