Half Girlfriend picked up another decent number on Saturday with around 10-10.25 crore nett but the problem was that the film was flat and collections similar to Friday. The growth came in metros and Punjab but that was because it had under performed here on day one. The places that started well showed small drops. After the start, the film needed to grow just 15-20% on Saturday to ensure success but that has not happened and now its depending on the weekday business. There is the IPL final which may affect Sunday and the Sunday collections may not have the normal trajectory. The first two day collections of Half Girlfriend are as follows.

Friday - 10,00,00,000

Saturday - 10,25,00,000 apprx

Grand Total - 20,25,00,000

Hindi Medium showed good growth on Saturday as it collected around 4 crore nett which is 60% higher than Friday. The collections still remain low but the Saturday numbers have given it a chance for a run and now its is about the Monday numbers. This film also may not get the normal Sunday due to the IPL final. The first two day business of Hindi Medium is as follows.

Friday - 2,50,00,000

Saturday - 4,00,00,000

TOTAL - 6,50,00,000

Why? MS' last film HAK was a flop and he had a tough time starting his next due to that. MS also needs the same ingredients for a hit-low budget, hit to semi-hit music, 'popular' young stars and wide release with preferably an open week.

Varun and Tiger always get open weeks and decent release dates while HG had a clash with HM and thus choice for the audience and division of screens. Otherwise HG also would have done 13-14 cr opening.

These new gens barely cross 75 cr and BOOM they get an easy hit. 😆

Even Ranveer and Ranbir need enhancements like popular co-stars, hit music, controversies, well known directors/PHs. Take out 1-2 of these factors they are also as low as Varun, Tiger, Sid etc.

Sometimes they are REALLY low even despite these factors due to poor script selection.

HG collected more on day 1 (10.75cr) than what MPB did in a lifetime (9cr)

mohit-shradha combo + arjun kapoor + hit music ensured a great opening despite a very trashed trailer

actually it is a huge plus for arjun and shradha..says a lot on their starpower that despite a trashed trailer they can open a movie well..and of course mohit contributed as well..his movies mostly do well and the music of course
