Hi,

I read the below on Hotstar:

Uma Performs The Ritual

Kanak tries to avoid the ritual in which she has to burn her hand. Later, she is surprised when Uma Shankar performs the ritual on her behalf.

That means the ritual can be performed either by husband or wife. I knew that Kanak won't be forced into branding.

Regardless of whether she or he did it. It is a pretty silly thing to do. Forcing her to do it would have been worse on a legal and ethical basis. One should not torture one's body for the sake of religion. It is disrespectful of God's creation imho

Agreed that none should have done the branding. Have not read the vedas, but sure that even Vedas won't suggest branding. However if it had to be shown in the show, glad that it was Uma who was shown doing it as he actually believes in it and not Kanak.

Maybe they showed Uma getting branded so Kanak will be impressed that Uma did that for her and start falling in love with him, but this could have been shown some other way as well. They didn't have to go to this extreme to make Kanak start feeling something for Uma.

It was similar to Goumata scene. She held his hand and he did the vidhi. Kanak thought he takes his "dharam" seriously. The priest was the one impressed.

These will be the flashback scenes once Kanak runs away from him😆 They have to make her fall for him some way 😆
