Movie scripts are fluid, to say the least. Since the writing credits are often changed alongside it. The first Simran script was a thriller, but Kangana's introduced changes in it to make it a comedy... As such the number of writings shown on screen are more likely to have come from Kangana.
In the movie industry (I'm producer and screenwriter) if a writer changes more than 50% of an original script he, or she share the writing credits. In this case, I believe Kangana has made enough changes in the scenes to make it a comedy instead of thrillers... As such, she plainly deserves the credits...

Has for the split, if the movie has changed direction because he sounded better a comedy than a thriller, then, of course, it's normal that a rift open between a director and his original writer. But in the end, Kangana could have never changed the direction of the movie if Hansal himself didn't think it was better than the original script...

Did you read this paragraph? What am I missing... the writer is admitting he aimed for a light-hearted movie and scripted with that in mind.

The story and screenplay are almost exactly what I registered with the Film Writers' Association (FWA). Hansal had sent me a news article about a woman in the US who had crossed the line of the law. I loved it, but I didn't want us to make another dark and gritty film after Aligarh. So we stripped the original story of its baggage and found the playfulness in it. I love storytelling through songs, have produced and directed the Tera Mera Pyar videos for Kumar Sanu and Shreya Ghoshal. I've written four songs.
About the additional dialogue credit, Kangana totally deserves it. She improvised on many of the dialogues and did a remarkable job. She has brought a Chaplinesque performance style to my scenes reminiscent of Sridevi in her prime.

That's the problem though! Kangana's answers make it seem like she changed the script from a thriller to comedy. However here, Asrani states he was drained after writing for Aligarh and wanted to do comedy next, so he developed a light-hearted story based off the Patel lady. He's got proof of the 9 drafts he wrote over a period of 1 and half years, so doubt he is lying there. Kangana is taking unfair credit for his work.

She did the same by trying to keep her costume designers name out of her film's credit.

It still doesn't matter. If after the first edit more of her scenes and dialogues makes parts of the movie, then she got credits. No matter how many drafts he made... I suspect Kangana to have twisted all her scenes to make them shine of the same color. Men writers don't understand women at all. And this writer, the fact that he complained so much is just suspicious as the movie industry is working like this since its inception... So that's in itself is suspicious...

What he says and what the news about the project said before its realization, are 2 different things...

"It is for the first time that Hansal and Kangana have collaborated for a film. Even the Queen actor is all praise for the director. In an interview to PTI, she said, "Hansal is one of the most incredible and genuine talents that we have today. His Aligarh has by far been the best film India has seen in last 10 years and apart from being talented, he is a wonderful person."

She added, "The best part about him... After Anurag Basu, he is one director who does not give you a full-fledged script in hand. He wont give you dialogues. Every day is a new day with him. He leaves it to the environment to inspire him, to his surroundings to tell him what scene he should shoot... He is a person who lives life with a lot of consciousness. I am a huge fan of him."

Not sure if you're trolling or what but here's the entire response from communion's linked thread:

Ms Ranaut has been claiming in several interviews that Hansal Mehta, the director of Simran, approached her with just a one line screenplay of the film. She says that they story was dark & gritty thriller at that stage and that she herself developed it into a light, fun film.

This completely discredits me and my efforts, and I have to call out this lie at the cost of so many of her fans turning against me. Those that know me will know that I have always strived for the truth, and that is more important to me than a hit film.

Hansal sent me a news article of a woman in the US who crossed the line of the law. I loved it and thought it would make a great film. But I didn't want to do a serious film after Aligarh. As gratifying as the experience of making Aligarh was, it churned my insides out and left me emotionally drained. I saw 'Simran' as an opportunity to have some fun. This was 2 years ago!

I signed a contract with Hansal's company Karma Features, developed the idea into an original story and wrote a one-line screenplay. Hansal loved it, and took me to meet Kangana. She heard the narration and jumped at it. She told us she would do it!

The writer isn't disputing that she had a hand in changing dialogues on set or incorporating her ideas during scripting. In fact he praises her quite a bit and dude is ready to provide receipts. The writer mentions he had no problem with the actors doing similar changes from previous films but that kinda raises misogynistic questions, so moot point on my side...

Lots of legendary directors are/were freakishly obsessive with their work: Malick, Scorsese, Lynch, Hitchcock, Bergman, and the most obsessed of them all, Kubrick. But these guys weren't full-time actors. They were directors foremost.

If Kangana wants to manage every micro detail of filmmaking, she should turn director. I know she wants to, but as long as she is an actor, she should steer clear of micro management. She can contribute and creative differences are always welcome. Kangu isn't doing that though. She is trying to become director of a movie she is an actor of.

She's being unfair to people around here.
