Note: Just a short story about Ishita / Akash impact on Aarya and the family.
This is a very late gift for the April birthday ladies 😊.
Chapter 1
It was celebration day, Holi*, the festival that marks the arrival of spring also widely known as the Festival of Color, it takes place over two days, and is a celebration of fertility, color and love, as well as the triumph of good versus evil.
The family was looking forward to the enjoyment after weeks of drama, Gayatri-Ma long recovery from her serious injury, Bauji turmoil with his now two-wives and the surprise real son, Akash spoiled destructive behavior; the family needed a rest from the turmoil and what better way to do that then washing out the hurt and pain from their mind and soul; it was symbolic of course.
Aarti woke up alone again, Yash having gone god know where, but these days she was sleeping more than usual with her pregnancy feeling more tired. Yash was usually letting her sleep longer and took care of the children for her. He really has changed since he acknowledges her feelings, he was fully committed to their marriage and with his conscience free of guilt, he was the wonderful husband she knew he could be. She slowly got up from the bed, hopeful for the day. She was finishing dressing after her shower when she suddenly decides to play him first seeing the plate of powder. She filled her hands and hide behind the bathroom door waiting to jump and rub his face. Hearing the door opened, she blindly plasters his face with glee only to realize that it was Rana the housemaid. She immediately felt bad and apologize.
"I am sorry Rana, I thought it was Yash", Aarti said remorsefully
"No worry Madam, no harm done. I know that in your condition you are likely to have mood swing. It's okay, Madam", Rana smile with indulgence.
"Thank you Rana and sorry again", Aarti apologizes
"It's okay Madam, I go now, okay", Rana said and left
Behind her, she heard a mocking laughter and turn around, Yash was having fun at her expense which made her pout in disappointment and a little hurt.
"You should have seen your face. Aarti", Yash splutters between laughs
"That's not fair", she pouts, "I am not speaking to you", she said turning her back on him
"Oh come on, it was funny", he said. Aarti continued to pout. "Okay, okay, I'll stop", he said, but then smudge her with rose powder, "happy holy", he said but suddenly he felt her shake in cry, "that is not fair, I just wanted to put the color first and I don't get to do that, now you have to ruin everything", she continues to cry
Yash concern grew; he didn't mean to make her cry, but she looks so cute being caught off guard that he couldn't resist. She shouldn't be under stress; it was not good for her in her condition. "Sorry, honey, come on don't cry. Please, I didn't mean to make you sad. Here put some powder on me," he proceeds to take her hand and smears his face. Still, she was shaking; "come on na, Aarti, crying is not good for you and the baby, what can I do for you to forgive me; I know, I'll buy you that jewelry you were admiring the last time we went to the mall, no better yet, I'll take you on a honeymoon and then you can smear my entire body", he finishes glad with himself and hoping it did the trick.
"Now you're talking Mr. Scindhia", Aarti said with a smile, raising her head to look at him
"Hey, did you trick me?", he said surprised to see no tears
"Me? why would you say that?"
"You were laughing!! Ahhh every time woman, you don't play fair", he pouts
"All fair in love and war, jaan. Now about that honeymoon you promise, when are we going to go"
"It was under false pretext", he shots back
Aarti, reach for his collar and slide her hand along his torso, leaving traces of powder, "does it mean that I don't get to smear your body", she said seductively. Yash swallows, his body suddenly in heat, "or squeeze all the juice from you", Aarti continues.
His temperature rose 50 degrees higher, "hum, A..A.Aarti."
"Yes darling", she taunts her hand near his sensible area
"Huh, I I..am busy for the next months with the Mera project...but I...I.."
"Well then I'll be by my lone self, abandoned by my husband who never took me to a honeymoon. I understand after all I am only a mother to your children and your servant", she falsely resigns herself
"I did not say that", Yash shot back, an image of Aarti seduction still in his head
"Then what are you saying", she whispers near his mouth
"Next.. week maybe, if.. I can re-arrange my schedule"
"Really, jaan?"
"Y..Yes", he replies aroused
Aarti let him go and said, "great, thank you Yash, that is so kind. I'll ask Amrita to make the arrangement, the kids will be looked after by Prateek and Paridhi during the week and then they'll spend the weekend at Arpita's parents, it's been a while since they saw the girls".
Yash heart warms at her thoughtfulness and giving nature, she wanted the girls to have a relationship with their maternal grandparents, saying that it was important because they were family. "Wait, you, you set me up", he suddenly said
"And how would I have done that. You're the one who caught me, earlier, aren't you?"
"You sneaky, ...", he started
"...adorable, loving woman", Aarti cuts in
"Hum, that too. Okay, I know you have been very patient and since I always fulfill my promises then honeymoon it is"
"Thank you." Aarti said beaming
"I should have planned it earlier, before your pregnancy, I have no excuse, forgive me"
"Nothing to forgive, jaan, you are showing great improvement", she tenderly smiles
"Thanks, I suppose", he rolls his eyes, "now that this is settled, let's finish what you started, before I die of hurt", he said seductively
"I see that, but we have to go downstairs for the celebration", she answers
"You can't be serious", he said
"Very", she smiles
"After awakening every fiber of my body, you are going to let me sweat like that. Is that revenge. I thought we were okay", he suspiciously asks
"Of course we are okay, but you know the kids will come soon and interrupt, then you'll be even more hum.. hurt", she smirks
"But they are not here yet and I need a fix with my wife", Yash said bringing her closer to him.
"Don't say I didn't warn you", she replies
"Just kiss me", he said lowering his head, anticipating the pleasure he always felt with her.
"Papa, papa, what are you doing", the kids ask running in excitedly
"Ugh", he softly cried
Aarti laughs, "told you", she murmurs and turn around to face her children at the same time hiding their papa's condition.
"Hi, babies, you are already up?", Aarti welcomes them
"Yes, its Holi na. We have to go downstairs, come on", Palak said taking her hand
"Okay, but first, have you had breakfast"
"Offo mama, they will be food outside, now its color time...will go get grandpa ", Ansh mischievously said
"Papa, why are your eyes close, are you hurt," Palak asks
"Huh, no..."
"Papa hurt his foot on the bedpost, now he has to go to the bathroom to put some balm on it, right Yash"
"Yes, yes... that's it", he agrees
"But Papa, why didn't you tell mommy to kiss it and make it better", Ansh innocently said to witch Aarti exclaims in shock and Yash grins.
"Well my boy, I tried but you know mommy, she always has to put balm on everything", he teases
"Yash", she warns
"Yes, darling"
"Go, in the bathroom", she orders
"I am going, I am going", he said, anyway he had no choice in his state. He heard the voice fading as Aarti pushed the kids toward the door. He pauses a moment to look at her long flowing silky hair and sway of hips. She turns around and winks at him mischievously. How much he loves her he couldn't say, but he sent a silent thank you, prayer to bagwan for gifting him this wonderful woman he has come to cherish dearly. He will treat her to that honeymoon, she deserves it, he will plan more surprise because she never asks anything, always giving selflessly and it was up to him to make sure that she was treasured and loved. He went in the bathroom, to clean up, eager to join his family.
*
An hour later the drums were resounding but loud, obnoxious music was coming from the Akash crowd; they were loud because of the drinking and doing everything to annoy the others Scindia.
Aarti, dressed in a white sari like all the woman, was standing in the middle of the garden overlooking her children. She was smiling at their happiness and joy at smearing colors to anyone they could get. A motherly burst of love shot in her heart. She felt so lucky and pray that they grew up to be as wonderful as they were now, mischievous but strong, confident and loving. She had no doubt that the upcoming baby will be the image of his papa and she couldn't wait to hold her/him in her arms. On the corner of her eyes, she saw Prateek standing alone, lost in thoughts and probably thinking about Paridhi who went to her parents for the day; her devrar was hopelessly in love with his wife but they were going through a rough patch between Paridhi ambition and the family values. She shifts her look on the left and saw Pankaj and Vidhi busy smearing each other. They do fit perfectly, mature, strong and supportive big brother and sister; Aarti was forever grateful for Vidhi good heart in having accepted and helped two new bahu into the Scindhia fold. She smiles at Vedika teasing her parents, they should have had Vedant home but he was completing his last exam. The noise grew louder on the other side and eyeing the area she suddenly frowns seeing how the two scums that Aakash called friends were staring lecherously at Vedika, she made a move toward them when Akash push them toward the music. She let it go for now but decide the keep an eye on her niece. After what happened at the club, she couldn't trust them to properly behave. She turns back toward the house and her heart skipped a beat. Yash was standing at the door, staring at her. He smiles a sensual smile and walk toward her. Without being aware, her feet's move toward him, eager to get near him. She didn't know what she did to get this lucky, but she thank-g-d and her parents (in spite of everything) for this Punarvivah. The beginning has been difficult and at time painful, but looking at her handsome husband dress in white with such a loving smile toward her she thought that fighting for this relation has been worth it.
(Aarti inner thoughts')
They got close and as she was about to touch his face and wish him a good Holi, in came a stumbling Ishita, caught by Yash before she fell flat on her face.
'what?', Aarti thought surprised, now where did she come from?'
"Ishita are you ok", Yash asks, holding her by the arms. Ishita still slightly leaning on Yash chest raise her head to look at him grateful but also with a look of adoration.
'Oh oh' Aarti thought narrowing her eyes
"I am fine Yash, thanks to you", Ishita answers her hand still on Yash chest
'Has she just spoke with a sultry voice or am I imagining it', Aarti trail thoughts continuing
"Are you hurt", Yash asks
'No she is not; you did the knight in shining armor act jaan', Aarti cynically thought
"No, I am fine, just shaking at what could have happened to my leg"
"Are you sure", Yash asks concerned
That is so you, my love, caring about others, even in your worst phase you tried to defend me, but please let her go'
"Yes Yash, am sure, thank you again", Ishita answer beaming
'Here it is again, that voice, ok time to let go'
"Okay then try to stand and let me know. If it hurts, I'll take you to the house"
'Oh, Yash, don't encourage her', Aarti inner voice continues
"I am fine. But let me wish you a good Holi Yash"; Ishita turns and took some color in Aarti plates and directed her hand toward Yash face", smiling tenderly
'Oh hell no, I got this privilege. Someone stops her', Aarti scream in her head
Yash look at her slightlysurprisede, but since Aarti was not reacting he stood there waiting.
'Come on Aarti do something, stop her, don't stand there frozen'
Suddenly she heard her kids coming toward them and carry their father with them to play. 'oh my wonderful babies, you are the best and mummy will treat you to her chocolate drink you love so much', she thought watching them go. She turns back and her eyes caught Ishita dreamy eyes following Yash. No I am not imagining thing, and I better do something about this. He is my husband'.
Ishita caught herself and saw Aarti staring at her. She re-arranges herself, nervously, touching her pallu and her hair.
"Hum Aarti, sorry for spoiling your Holi with Yash"
"You haven't spoiled anything Ishita", Aarti replies calmly
"That is kind of you to say, but I swear I only meant to walk by, I don't know how I felt in his arms", she said a little defiantly
"Ishita, it's really is not an issue; we already celebrated this morning in our room; this now is for the kids. Beside one of the qualities I love about Yash is his tendency to help everybody regardless of who it is. In fact, he can't help himself to attend to every helpless creature".
"Oh, well, I am glad he is so considerate", Ishita said a little deflated
"Weren't you going to join, your husband, Akash, before he felt even more into disgrace. He should be your priority, don't you think", Aarti coolly said
"Of..of course ", Ishita mumbles
"Well then what are you waiting for, he needs you now", Aarti said firmly
Ishita turns to leave, secretly furious at Aarti behavior toward her, dismissing her like that. Who did she think she was? It should have been her with Yash, not Aarti. He just kept her because he was a good human being and she trapped him with the baby. She got a dreamy look, when she recalled being in her arm, the warm all over her body made her forget for a moment where she was, but too soon Aarti, again interrupted the moment; it was so unfair. She was a Scindia, living in the Scindhia Mansion, but her dream had crashed in an unexpected way. Now she has to saddle herself with her good for nothing, illiterate, stupid, husband who couldn't muster enough audacity to really destroy the family.
Aarti watches Ishita walk away and for the first time, she was filled with serious suspicions. She didn't want to think bad of the woman; after all, they were partly to blame for her humiliations at the altar and Akash treating her like nothing was not helping also. That is why, she admits it with a guilty conscience, decide to take upon herself to make it up to her somehow. She has tried to ease her addition to the family, especially because the circumstances were such that the family was shaken to the core. Now she suddenly got a bad vibe from her and it bares looking into it. Could it be that Ishita was still keeping some resentful lasting feelings? She needed to keep an eye on the situation, things were already complicated with Bauji Gayatri-Ma, Akash and Radha to add an enamoured woman in the mix.
"Mama, come with us", she heard her babies calling. For now, she will enjoy the rest of the day with her family.
*
Ishita was angrily pacing in the kitchen, she wanted to avoid being asked to see about Akash, her good for nothing husband. She was so angry with her situation, that she threw a glass against the wall out of frustration.
"Wait, who is making this noise, what's going on, here; oh, it's only you, what got you ruffles ", Maya Bua asks coming in to pick up some pastries and water for Gayatri. The women were taking turns to care for her until she regains her full strength.
"Nothing, it doesn't concern you ", Ishita flippantly answers forgetting her place for a moment
"What did you say", Maya Bua frostily asks, grabbing Ishita arms to turn her around. "You are deliberately breaking dishes, which you don't own. You are destroying property that belongs to my dear brother word hard for. You need to respect what does not belong to you. If you are having a temper tantrum, do it somewhere else. I have more important things to do than wasting my time with you"
Ishita tried to hold her eyes, "why are you attacking me and meddling in my business"
"I swear Ishita, defy me again and you will find your asses out before you had time to say please; understood. After all, I am the one that brought you here and I can easily throw you out on your asses", Bua finishes and with Ishita not daring to talk, left her there. She wasn't fooled though something was definitely wrong with the girl.
Ishita seethes, now more than ever determined to get her dues. She deserves happiness with the man she loves, she will show them all.
*
A while later, after much dancing and laughing, the adults went back inside the house. Ansh and his sisters seeing their uncle drinking too much alcohol, decide to fill the bottles with water.
"Ansh are you sure? Akash uncle will be angry", Palak asks anxiously
"Yes, buddu, I heard Pankaj uncle and Prateek uncle said that he was loud because of the alcohol; he is not well. We are just helping him"
"Okay but hurry, I don't want to be with him, like that", Palak said
"Yes, Bhahia hurry,", Payal chimes in nervously
"Just two more and it's done", Ansh replied filling the remaining bottles
"What are you guys doing", Vedika asks, surprising the kids
Ansh whirl around surprise, and drop the water pipe, "Nothing", he said
"And why do you have Akash uncle' bottle in your hand", Vedika said
"We are just helping him", Ansh replies
"Well don't, you don't want to be caught by Akash uncle, especially in his state"
"But he needs us, Vedi Didi", Ansh insists
"That is very kind of your kids, but it's up to the grown up to take care of the situation, okay"
"Okay, Didi, but I am right", Ansh pouts
"Well, well well, what do we have here?" One of the drunk so-called friends of Akash, Hiresh said behind them.
"I see a beauty, waiting to have some fun", Rajit the other drunk adds
"Hello darling, what don't you come have fun with us, I swear you won't regret it", Hiresh said swaying on his feet
Vedika tense, knowing that no good can come from the two drunk guys, she pushes the kids behind her in a protective manner. "Don't you dare come closer," she defiantly said
"Hey, hey, don't be afraid, I will be gentle", Hiresh said laughing
"Besides, we have Akash blessing", Rajit lied
"Kids, go inside now", Vedika said, turning and urging the kids to run, she grabs Payal hands and quickly walk ahead while the others were running. She jumps startled when she felt a hand reaching for her.
"Vedi Didi, come on, quick", Payal urgently said
"Payal go now, run", Vedika shouts
Ansh and Palak got scared hearing her cry, "Vedi Didi"
"Go now", Vedika yells, struggling to set her hand free
Ansh grabs Payal and run as fast as his little feet allows him; they needed to call for help Vedika. Ansh enters the house screaming for Yash and his Uncles.
"Ansh, what's, wrong", Yash stop him
"Papa, papa, Vedi.. you have to help...", he said between breath
"Quick uncle, Akash uncle friends have grabs Vedi Didi", Palak adds
"Kids stays inside", Aarti orders while the men and Vidhi were already running
