PART 2- Bechani
Neil battled whether to take Ananya to the hospital himself, or wait for the ambulance to come and take care of her himself mean-whilst. But he knew he would be faster than the ambulance, which would have to get here and take her back. Neil looked for the location on Ananya where the blood flow started. He ran to get a scarf from his closet, so he could tie it around Ananya to compress the wound for the time being.
"Ananya, Ananya, ankhan nah band kharo," he begged, as he lifted Ananya in his arms and place her in his car. Then he drove, faster than he ever had driven before. Not caring that the door to his place wasn't locked, not caring if Riya had to come to his later than night, not caring what he left behind.
"You can't leave me. Ananya. Tum mujhe nahi chor ke ja sakti. Ananya, don't close your eyes, please," Neil kept repeating, as he got her to the hospital. He stopped his pleas only when he had to call DD to tell them to be ready for the Ananya.
As the hospital staff rolled Ananya away into the operation theatre, Neil paced around the hospital corridor.
"Yeh ladki sach me Ms ajooba hi hain. Aisa khese hamesha mushkil main padh jaati hain. Hamesha mujhe heart attack dheti hain. How can she do that to me? Mehre baare main soche bi nahi. Juhi left me and now Ananya's making her own plans. Usse jagne hi hoga. Jagne do Ananya ko,"Neil rambled to himself, waiting for Ananya to wake up. He didn't let the thought of Ananya dying seep into his brain. He couldn't. He knew if he did, he'll break. So he kept making plans on how he'd school Ananya from doing that again. Maybe give her proper self-defense classes. Maybe get someone to always keep a look out for her so he'd know when she's in danger or when she's about to do something stupid, which was usually always.
An hour later, wiping his tears, he decided he needed to inform Madhavi about her daughter in hospital, and perhaps Neela too. But he didn't have their number on his phone.
"Should I call DD again? No, he needs a night off if I can't come in to work tomorrow. He can take care of my workload whilst I take care of my Ananya...I mean my friend, Ananya. Should I call Ali? Ananya seems to have gotten closer to Ali. He might know Ananya's home phone number. Yes, I'll call Ali," Neil told himself.
