It wasn't about how embarrassing what her mother was, or that he felt SHE might be embarrassed by who her mother was. He wanted to be the one who broke the news to her, that he'd found her mother, after promising that he wouldn't.
And after finding her, he wanted to withhold it from her. Or so she thought.
(Tad unfair there, he did the best he could in an extremely difficult situation, Annika. Give some credit. Shivaay has behaved so well, for a guy whose ceiling just crashed on his head)
"I FOUND MY MOTHER!? I don't care who or what she is. She is mine!"
Shivaay is instantly contrite, embarrassed at his assumption that she would need to be prepared for the shock. Actually HE needed to prepare for the shock. She just wanted to see her mom.
"Admit it, now my Naam, Khoon and Khandaan makes a difference to you."
"Yes."
{There it is. She didn't let him touch her, she keeps him at a distance. But she didn't leave, nor did she stop speaking to him. That would be throwing a tantrum. Annika didn't do that. She didn't fight and argue, she just put an emotional distance between them. No hugging him, no crying to him, no pouring of feelings. You might just feel a slight chill.
Shivaay feels it. She effectively left it to him to decide what he wanted to do about his NKK issues, now that the ugly truth is out.
She just wanted to finally meet her mother after so long. She leaves him.
"Where are you going? Don't leave?!"
"I'm going to meet my mother..."
{Not leaving or trying to make a point with you anymore Shivaay. This is not about you.}
Shivaay is no longer afraid she will leave. Now he's embarrassed that he did it this way, and he goes after her.
She runs down to meet her mother and hugs her.
Nayantara overdoes the acting, but Annika wasn't complaining. It was her reunion with her mom. Nevermind why she left her by the roadside. All that matters is she came now for her.
She is crying , she is feeling, she is enjoying the feeling, ignoring all the overdone verbal incontinence Pinky was doing in the background.
In fact it was something Pinky said that set off a train of thought in Annika's head.
"I can understand what it feels like to hold your blood relation in your arms. I know very well what that feels like."

And yes, this woman was after her like a vampire since the Kulgothra pooja , like a mercenary, suddenly wants to cry over her reunion with her mother? Conveniently, a Bar Dancer?}
Annika freezes instantly. steps away. Must be devastating when moments ago she was running for the mother she had been waiting for all her life.
Shivaay notices, What's wrong Annika?
Pinky goes on.
"Shivaay? Touch your MIL's feet??! "
"No, no, he won't like touching my feet, not a woman like me.."
"No no, nothing like that. Shivaay cares for Annika more than his own family. He won't have any issues with it, would you Shivaay??"
Annika listens, Why is this suddenly about Shivaay?
Shivaay gulps, visibly pales, and {bless his wonderful soul} goes and touches his MIL's feet. For Annika's sake. Her mother is MY mother.
{Shame on you Pinky. What you did to Annika and Shivaay is unforgivable. You deserve everything that is coming for you... And i hope it's bad.}
Annika turns her back and walks away. No one follows, not even her newly found mother. Shivaay goes to her.
She faces to poolside , deep in thought. I really wish I knew what was going on in there.
{Did she know Pinky is doing this? Or is it a suspicion that requires proof. Is Pinky aunty doing this to separate me and Shivaay? Nothing is safe to say out aloud. }
"She's not my mother."
Shivaay is stunned, according to his information, she is. He quickly explains how he had enquired about her mother when he got an address from the orphanage. Despite stopping his enquiries, this woman appeared at their door.
Annika listens carefully. She's not my mother. I can't say why, something doesn't feel right. Something is fishy.
"I vaguely remember my mother not being a dancer.."
Nayantara comes there and after more platitudes to the wooden Annika, she is granted the guest room to stay and bond with Annika. The woman is instantly excited and very willing to stay , and Annika's brows rise in surprise.
She is watching carefully everything that is going on.
Precap shows her watching incredulously as "her mother" dances an item dance in their house, flirting with Shakti Oberoi.
Yup, our Annika is on high alert. by the end of that dance, she may very well strike.
Notice how Annika is not overdramatic or weepy at all? I think this side of Annika unnerved even Shivaay a little. In fact, she looked like she was controlling FURY. I may be wrong of course.
I love Shivaay today, he is doing his best for Annika. Pinky doesn't even realize she is losing. Shivika are not fighting and pushing each other away, they are dealing with their issues.
Sure , there is an emotional distance right now, but nothing they can't handle as long as they are together.
