Everything written did come true and I absoultely agree with it..I must say great observation 😊
Now coming to the first part Maya - A master of Vices
I absoultely agree and myself have stated the same fact that Maya uses others' vices and weaknesses for her own advantage..she is very intelligent and calculative..she gauges their behaviour and anticipates their reations and thus use it to her own advantage...I loved how aptly u have explained it using the right words.
Just like u said
Maya used Vandana's insecurity , her superstition, her blind love for her son
Ayaan's anger , innocence
Arjun's habit of trusting easily , his ambitious nature etc.
These characters as I have said again and again are not white..they are flawed like ordinary human beings and thus have made mistakes.
And Maya has used that to her own advantage.
Now I don't think that Saanjh hides her vices better or Maya is not able to use Saanjh's vices or is scared of her.
Nope...I don't think Maya is scared of her.
We can take the abortion case or the holi party case
Maya very well knew that Saanjh-Arjun were besties...she had seen how their were behaving with each other
She decided to use it to her own advantage
And thus she mixed the bhaang and instigated Suman against Saanjh
The result was people at the party were speaking ill of Arjun and Saanjh and Suman dragged Saanjh out of the party.
Maya knew that Saanjh's vice is that when she is with Arjun she doesn't think of the world...one can say Arjun is Saanjh's vice and Maya used it to her own advantage
Next was when Saanjh got so angry and confronted Maya head on.
Maya again used Saanjh's anger and her behaviour to her advantage.
Now I m not sure if she deliberately fell or it was an accident or if she was pregnent or not...these are all debatable.
This incident proved to be a turning point coz Arjun broke all relations with Saanjh and Maya used this incident to gain Arjun's complete love and trust..She did Ganesh Visarjan and in her words became Arjun's God.
So, she has used Saanjh's vices as well.
Those are all good points. I was specifically talking in the context of the incident that happened. When I say Saanjh doesn't wear her vices on her sleeves like the rest doesn't mean I'm trying to say she's better at hiding them. I doubt she can do that. My point, simply, was to point out that her vices are all tethered to Arjun. And the fact that Maya cannot influence Saanjh on a one-on-one level. Maya can influence and get a reaction out of all three--Vandana, Ayaan and Arjun--to a T of her requirements because all three are gullible to her manipulations. Saanjh on the other hand isn't as gullible when it comes to Maya that is because the show has shown her to be Maya's anti-thesis. If you see carefully, Maya has hardly--very rarely--been able to influence Saanjh in a direct way. All the incidents you've quoted, Maya had to go around Saanjh and influence outer factors like Suman her mom and Vandana and in the holi incident Maya didn't expect to influence Saanjh into leaving, she expected to influence Arjun. She counted on Arjun's reaction because she knows manipulating Saanjh in such a way where she reacts how she wants to is harder than possible. More times than not she has counted on Saanjh's weaknesses for Arjun and then expected the final reaction out of Arjun and not Saanjh. So if we compare all of them, Saanjh stands the most chances of seeing through Maya for who she is.
Saanjh's vice happens to be Arjun. Which is why Maya, while she may be able to control the possible perimeters, is also restricted in a certain way. That's the irony of it.
Now I am not sure if she has her vices under control or not.
I think they do take over her.
When she is good and nothing good happens to her and then she has to resort to her own bad ways is simply an excuse Maya uses infront of God to justify what she does next.
Although it is mainly her mental illness but one can say that her vices - her insecurities , her overpossesivness , he fears do control her and her actions.
(Her condition is due to her deep rooted fears and trauma which she suffered in childhood in my opinion)
I think she controls some of her vices like manipulation, lying , being calculative while some of her vices control her like her fears , insecurities , over possessiveness , her need to control.
(I don't know if I made sense here😆)
If Maya had her vices under control she won't have been Maya.😆 She would've been parvati. No that wasn't my point. Vices are basically a wicked, or immoral personal characteristic. If my vice is lying it could very much end me up in trouble, because it's my vice. My guilt, my weakness, my untrained reaction. But let's say Maya's vice is her over-possessiveness, her need for control, we can clearly see that not only does she not feel guilty of her positions, she revels in them, this empowers her, feeds her soul, gives her the illusion of omnipotence. She finds peace in her vices. She feeds her vices. We as normal people fear our vices. Maya on the other hand fears her virtues. She loathes them because they make her vulnerable and because they've never gotten her anything good. What has gotten her everything she ever wanted? Her lies. Her fears. Her possessiveness. Her control. When she's insecure it only helps secure her post as she likes it. Which means that for a normal person their vices harm them. But you see from Maya's pov, and for her, her vices benefit her. She can not only recognize and manipulate the vices of others but she can also depend and strengthen her own for her personal benefit and advancement. With a lot pf people their virtues lead them to their fatal fates. With Maya her vices may very well do that at some point, but until the time comes, they're very much the power system that runs through her veins.
P.s. - it is great that people do such detailed and productive analysis and get involved in healthy discussions 😊
It sure is.
