Masand is basically on these guys' payroll and ever since his association with Kwan started and he became some BW celebs mouthpiece, he pretty much lost credibility. His favs are all star kids so it's not surprising that he'll be defensive about it.

Masand isnt scared anymore to openly admit how much of a sellout he has become 😆.

And Kareena ruled BW while Kat,PC managed to stay afloat?😆 What about Rani,Kajol? Even Aishwarya enjoyed more popularity than Kareena during her reign...Kareena's flowerpot roles only enticed the single screen audience

Lol .. funny that they began the article on nepotism with Rohan Murthy's example. It is ironic because Rohan did not inherit any management level position from his father. He did probably get all the money and stocks from his father but Infosys (Murthy's company) has a serious rule that none of the founding member's children are even allowed to be employed at Infosys. If anything, Murthy's are the real life example of anti-nepotism.

Yep.

Bollywood is not "breaking barriers" contrary to the popular belief. In fact, it's becoming more niche because filmmakers are following European model (French, Italian especially) of the 50s - 70s. The talented filmmakers are busy making slice of life or so called "thought provoking" movies, which fine for an industry that isn't as money-oriented as Bollywood, but for the 3rd biggest film industry in the world? Nah.

Bollywood needs more movies like Bahubali--as an institution--over movies like Dear Zindagi (I loved it, but let's be honest here - it's not going to create jobs and increase the prospects as much as a Bahubali does). Whether it's the Mahabharata, Ramayana, Shiva trilogy, or personal journey movies of Bheesma, Karna, Krishna, Indrajeet, Ravana, etc., it's high time Bollywood stopped being complacent and ventured uncharted territories.

That's only possible if you have the most talented people around.

I dont think making small or niche films is a problem. It would have been a problem if everyone was making one. But there are a even larger number of commercial films being made. Last year for instance commercial films like Dishoom, TFJ flopped/underperformed. Small or niche films are made more nowadays as its easier to get financing due to low budgets they have. But if commercial films were atleast making good money it wouldnt have mattered. Niche films are atleast being profitable due to controlled budgets.
Bollywood certainly needs to make films which appeal to larger section of the audience. But most BW films including commercial ones become regional hits. Like BKD did very well but only in UP, Jolly LLB did well in Punjab/Delhi where Akshay has a strong base. Kaabil did well in Mumbai and Raees too did well in Mumbai/Gujrat.
Only films which enjoy pan India interest are Salman and Aamir films during festivals or some films like Dhoom series. We basically need writers, directors and actors whose work appeals to a larger section of the audience when it comes to commercial films rather than audience being restricted to those places where the film is based or the star has a good base. Only then can BW be called a pan-India film industry.

God... Is everyone in the industry THIS stupid or is it just a case of you scratch my back and I'll scratch your back...

Btw does anyone stop to think how casting couch is directly related to increasing nepotism... Most of the outsiders had to compromise to be given third rate opportunities while star kids sit at home and CHOOSE which movie they WANT to debut with...

And like one of these idiots said himself - star kids are always offered a project first.

The people who are successful are not so because there is no nepotism but they are successful DESPITE of it.. . Sheer grit...

I can't decide which was more depressing ; going through this ridiculous article or just coming to terms with the fact that the names mentioned in the article are the only 'actors' we are left with in the industry today!
