I think he is going to keep her name Kanak all by himself... As one meaning of Kanak is sandalwood/Chandan... Since he got attracted to her sandalwood fragrance 1st,so I think he kept that name himself... Kanak appeared shocked when he said that name, so I feel she didn't give any clue about her...

You know this is exactly what she is thinking you can read it in her eyes, that Umashankar and god have a direct link with each other, when he mentions her name, but I felt that his younger brother must have told him a long time ago. It makes more sense that the brother told him.

By the way I didn't know Sandalwood also means Kanak, that could be another reason why he said that name also.
