Writer and Creative Team Changed

I noticed the credits in yesterday's episode. I think the writer of the episodic story has changed. It was Damini Shetty earlier but is now Shrinita Bhowmick. The dialogue writers have changed too perhaps. Edited to correct - the creative Head is still the same.

And I think this is a transition time while the new team is settling down.

Now here's the thing. Lets consider the logistics. Hindi tv shows air 5 days a week, and so the team is effectively producing (22X5) 110 minutes of content a week. It is like making a movie every week. Such a schedule is not only exhausting, it is almost inhuman. Yes, people working in television get a lot of rewards - in terms of money, fame and so on - but it does remain an absolutely crazy ride while the show is on air. When they first go on air they may be ahead in some ways - for example have a broad outline for the first 100 episodes and so on - but once they are on air the team loses such an advantage very quickly and you're just on a treadmill - running furiously but at the same place.

Writers and other members of the creative team do have the option of changing this. They can work on a show for 6 or 8 months, and then move to something else. Actors cannot do the same in quite the same way. The show has to work around their holidays, and they cannot leave the show without facing some sort of consequences or the other.

This is the industry normal, so most people don't question it. Those who work in the field learn to deal with it, or bow out. And this is one of the major reasons I've always given much more leeway to Hindi tv shows than Hindi films or American/British tv shows. Most times, bloopers, erratic changes in characterisation, random shifts don't drive me as mad as similar things in other media, because of how crazy the work situation here is.

And so perhaps yesterday's episode and the next few episodes are the new team settling down. I don't think they have quite the same understanding of these two characters - Shaurya and Mehak - that we do, but then we have been watching and analysing and explaining from episode 1. Ideally, they should know the broad outlines but sadly very few writers have the mind-space to actually pick up all the nuances that the preceding writers brought in. Also, not two people conceptualise and write in exactly the same way, as all the FF writers in the forum will know. So these bumps will occur.

I just hope and wish that someone on set - either the director or the creative associate - will take the onus to keep some sort of continuity, and add some small touches that remind us that these are the same Shaurya and Mehak we fell in love with.

Ah ok. I didn't know that. What other shows has she done?

Edited to add: Just googled her and I think can see the reason for your hopes. Its the sensibility of the sort of movies she has done casting for, I think. Hoping then that they get back on track soon.

Bang On post Vedika.. 👏 exactly, they know n only they know how much hardwork they r putting in n its like they run a marathon almost everyday. In films the actors, writers, creatives n everyone get ample time to work out on the plus n minus points n they have so much time to rectify if something goes wrong .But in TV its not the case,so many times have seen actors saying they shoot a epi in the mor which have to b aired in the eve. So some bloopers or some editing glitches in bet do occur,n some scenes ,or dialogues may not look convincing then too they have to let go of it. Yes there's a change in the team n it will take time to settle down, just wish they get it right n settle down soon. They have great performers n this team is responsible for etching out characters like SK n MS ...so just wish they don't spoil it what they themselves have carved with their hardwork. Actually after yes epi,i am somewhat shaken, not able to say anything,so just kept quiet. Its hurting to see such a nice love story taking this psychotic turn Hope this is just for a few epis n SK will get normal n become the same charming, intelligent character he was.

Yes after yesterday's episode, even I've been wondering how I got so passionate about this show as to spend hours on the internet writing posts about it. Feel like I should take a break from it.

Change in Shaurya's behaviour was subtly introduced a few episodes back & since then his anger management issues are regularly cropping up,he admitted to Kanta about his intense and extreme nature & specifically mentioned about his anger, more so when around Mehak, most obvious was the terrace scene (that's where everyone noticed the difference) even his PDA (public display of affection) yesterday was making Mehak uncomfortable, generally MehRya were shown physically at ease.
The shift in Shaurya's character is deliberate, they are shifting gears, for next track, but this jerk, is making Shaurya look like jerk & is going to spoil the MehRya journey & our ride with them .The CVs had so many options, why butcher your own brainchild,😕 having said that, must add, kudos to Karan, for despite being a newbie,he is playing the character with such conviction & keeping Shaurya's vulnerability & childlike quality alive. All complex shades of Shaurya are delivered well & clearly .

😆 that is true.
Yes, they are probably setting up the next phase of the story. But sometimes you can pay too high a price for something - and here if they go on that journey again, butchering Shaurya's character and then redeeming him again - they may pay the price of losing a few followers.

Yes, I agree. I think this change is deliberate and they are setting the stage for their track what ever that is. The property transfer, this obnoxious Showrya, Meera Sharma and this mysterious caller will all culminate in this mega track soon. I just hope they don't loose their Loyalists in the process...

@Vedika, you are right about their grueling schedules. And I wonder how much vacation the leads get. The audience won't like it if they don't give enough screen time to Mehrya...

Exactly...she was heading team since starting..
Now hire few just to kill the story
If they don't have anything interesting...
Just get them married and end the serial...
At least that won't hurt much as seeing ML's character butuchred this way...
