It actually doesn't even make sense for a guy this sanskari to be doing this in the name of God. God has given us humans free will for a reason. We get to choose whether we act in God's wishes.. and our Karma is based upon how we choose to act. Uma's karma was to convince Kanak of his beliefs.. not force them upon her.

Uma is actually not an enlightened soul because he is doing rituals from the surface but not from the heart. If he understood that rituals need to be pure from the heart he wouldn't think he could force wedding rituals on Kanak because they wouldn't be coming from her heart.

I have been venting since the last two epis so couldnt type a detailed response, but yes i agree and thats what my first issue was. If he believes in God as much as he claims , he shouldve waited for her to marry him willingly. I dont see what was the urgency. I guess CVs were in a hurry to get them married and show the marriage track. Otherwise nothing they showed off Uma is in sync with what he did with Kanak.

Either they should have continued with Kanak thinking that this was fake, or they could have even shown him making a deal with her. I mean it wouldn't have been ideal, but still. She could have found out that the muchar was actually an employee of UmaShankar and that it was Umashankar who had bhabho's shop. I think it would have been better if she had sacrificed in the name of getting the papers for bhabhos shop, marrying him for bhabho. It would have made a better notion of repairing her relationship with bhabho. With the current track, I feel as if bhabho is going to further misunderstand Kanak, and end up hating her more. But now, the forced marriage has happened, and seriously no idea how the writers are going to redeem UmaShankar.

The last show I watched where the ML did this was a pak drama called Gul E Rana. But there it was clear that we were supposed to think that guy was a douche. But here I don't know what the writers were smoking?!

Lol I am glad she told him that!

I have seen Gul e Rana too and yes atleast they showed the lead in a bad light. Judging from your dp you are also a OsMaya can 😃

Pravachan dena aasan hota hai aur wahi cheez practically karna mushkil hota hai...aapne per aane per hum situation ke hisab se change ho jate hai...
Bus wahi moral hai...dharam dharam karne wala aapni wife ke liye dekhna change ho jayega ...

Why was this gunshot wedding necessary? Why did the makers need to show it this way? And why did they try and draw a parallel between them and Suraj-Sandhya? Their situation was completely different.

I guess Uma's redemption will be the bring Kanak and Bhabho closer? But will that be redemption enough?

exactly...comparison ought to happen if they keep comparing suraj sandya with the current pair...

firstly im not too sure whats the background behind the forced marriage...fb comments lured me here...

suraj was a sacrificer, when he realises sandhya wasnt happy with marriage he tried to "release" her from their marriage by taking the blame though he loved her very much...here it's completely opposite...it's good to have a fresh lead with a fresh story but drawing a parallel is what not working...

being a huge fan of DABH 1 during it's initial stage i think the makers are not doing justice with this comparison...either you start with a "fresh" story with love-hate concept or if you would want to carry on with comparison, please do justice to the characters...btw dabh wasnt about love-hate...it was an unhappy marriage for sandhya but she respected suraj the way he is...

Wonder if this is why they could not get a prime time slot despite having prime time production values. This seems archaic but still probably very much a reality in rural northern India. With the the rising religious fascism, might even be a relevant scenario even in these times. But if they glorify him, it sends a bad message. He seems pretty close minded right now. Also feels use of force is permitted if pursuations fail. I would only use force to avert a criminal act if the perpetrator does not listen to reason. Here, it is like forcing someone to bend to some presumed God's will.
As for Bhabho drawing parallels, this lady has no moral ground. She was horrific to Sandhya in those early days and till the end, Sandhya had to bend over backwards a million times to gain a smidgen of approval from this character. Her giving gyaaan gives me the heebi jeebis.
