Every year, February 14 is celebrated as Valentine's Day all over the world. It is the springtime of lovers. Letters and cards are exchanged. Chocolates and flowers are gifted. Restaurants and hotels are bedecked for romantic meals and dinners. Everywhere you look, there is red and pink, roses and heart-shaped balloons, chocolates and presents and to most singles' displeasure...PDAs.

This day is an expression of love, any and all kinds of it. On this day, love is confessed and accepted.

L o v e is treasured and f r i e n d s h i p s are cherished.

Valentine's Day is the second most popular day of the year for sending cards, second only to Christmas.

On Valentine's Day every year, there are at least 36 million heart shape boxes of chocolates sold.

But how did the concept of Valentine's Day evolve?

The reason however is not exactly known. But it is believed to have a connection with Saint Valentine. The day has been derived from both ancient Christian and Roman tradition. According to one legend, Saint Valentine, a bishop, performed secret weddings for young soldiers who were not allowed to marry against the orders of the then ruling Roman emperor Clausius II. St. Valentine was imprisoned for this act. Later, he was executed due to his disagreements with the emperor on the ban of marriage for the young soldiers as well as for refusing to renounce his religion Christianity. During his stay in jail, Valentine had befriended the jailer's blind daughter. Just before his execution, St.Valentine wrote a farewell message for her and signed it as 'From Your Valentine', a phrase which is popularly used even now. According to another legend, Valentine was in love with the jailer's daughter. He was martyred on the fourteenth day of February.

Over the years, this day has been known as Valentine's Day in the honour of Saint Valentine for celebrating love and romance.

By the eighteenth century, gift giving and exchanging handmade cards had become common in England. But it was only in the 1840s did Valentine's Day cards began to be commercially produced.

In the Middle Ages, young men and women drew names to see who would be their Valentine. They would wear this name pinned on to their sleeves for a week for everyone to see. This was the origin to the expression 'wearing your heart on your sleeves'.

To all couples out there, it's time to celebrate your love with your partner. You are single and ready to mingle? Hola! Go out, meet people and have fun. Love someone? Confess it. Single and not ready to mingle? What can be better than a day out with friends or family? Or sitting in your favorite place and reading your favorite novel with a few cups of coffee? After all, it is important to love ourselves too, right?

After a breathtaking countdown and much anticipation, that coveted date of the 14th has arrived. Its no ordinary occasion, tis the V a l e n t i n e ' s! The 14th of Feb, the day of arduous love. Quite so, love is in the hair, air, here, there, everywhere. The day when the strictest of demeanours give way to passion and everything paints itself in hues of pink, red and white. Amidst all the hypes and feels, something that we cannot choose to ignore is the concept of 'Idealistic Love'. Glorifying the true essence of love and its accompanying sacrifices, we at the C r a z y C r e a t i v e s, bring to you the Top Nine Iconic lovers of all time, this Valentine's :

--> Jack & Rose [Titanic] : This one's what can be defined as perfect love. No, we aren't talking of a 'happy ending'. An affluent Rose finds her soulmate in a not so rich, happy go lucky chap - Jack. What follows is a fairytale romance only to end up in a tragic climax wherein the ship wrecks and Jack sacrifices his life to keep his Lady love afloat a wooden plank in the deep freezing waters of the Atlantic. Every time Dev would push down a drink through his throat, Paro would feel his agony and pain. And the final part will leave you open mouthed as Dev dies at Paro's altar, hecklessly chanting her name. The highlight of the movie is also Chandramukhi's dedication towards Dev which was her selfless love to see him happy and peaceful.

--> Radha Krishna : Nothing defines love more than this unearthly, divine couple. Krishna couldn't marry Radha but this doesn't hinder their devotion a bit. They're two hearts, one soul. United in heaven, here's a match that doesn't know any boundary and is a pure example of ethereal love.

--> Prithviraj Sayongita : They were the talk of the town during their age when Prithviraj had actually abducted Sayongita, his lady. This isn't just a tale of romance but also that of dedication, passion & bravery. Eventually, Sayongita's father Jaisingh had to given in to their stubbornness and they married each other with great pomp and splendour.

--> Gerry & Holly [P.S. I Love You] : Don't believe in the love which is timeless and everlasting? Then you sure need to see this. Holly is heartbroken over the death of her husband Gerry. She detaches herself from the world only to receive letters by her late husband which encouraged her to move on in life and startafresh. Each of them ends with 'I Love You'. This enriching tale is the epitome of love through eternity.

The CrazyCreatives after an extensive archeological survey came upon the Word of the Cupid. Think you're good enough for your partner? Conquer The Seven Trials set by the Cupid and the world shall believe.

"Love is a delicate sentiment, love is a strong motivator. Love is for all provided you prove yours worthy."

"What you seek lies at the end of this path. Conquer The Seven Trials of Amour and in the end you will find your beloved's heart."

TRIAL I:

"The first test is to wade through the ever growing crowd to procure a red shrub of Rosa."

TRIAL II:

"The second test is to bode farewell to your pride, your ego and prove your worthlessness as an independent individual and promise yourself to your beloved.

TRIAL III:

"To procure the finest of the cocoa, moulded into the perfection and appealing to the lover."

TRIAL IV:

"The fourth test of Valentine demands of the lover to hunt down a rare breed of bear, known as the teddy."

TRIAL V:

"The fifth test is the making of a bond, by honour, by love. A bond, a promise which will end only in death."

TRIAL VI:

"Fight for your love, appreciate your love. The sixth trial is to kiss your beloved and in doing so deeming fit to be his/her partner."
