I didn't know this. I thought tej always scolded him coz he is not successful. If he is successful in his own field then wat is tejs problem if his son doesn't enter business? He makes money anyways.

Yes Om is successful in his field. But to Tej business success is the REAL success! He want Om to be like him and like Shivaay. He wants Om to be chalrmen of Oberoi Industries after him. Not Shivaay. Therefore he always used to taunt Om whenever he used to say he is not interested in business.
Om was dating a girl called Ridhimma. He was hesitating about committing to her. But he asked her to move in to OM with them. Tej then took her help to make Om sign some documents that gave him more shares in the Oberoi business than Shivaay. Ridhimma pretended that the documents were to set up a charity. (She was involved in a lot of social activist causes, but she was also interested in the limelight and not always honest with Om). Anyway, long story short when Om found out what she did he broke up with her. Tej had once before tried to get Om to sign some papers giving him power of attorney when Shivaay was in hospital. So this has been an ongoing issue between the son and Father.
Tej thinks only business success is success and he wants his older son to take his place in the business. He doesn't want his brothers son to get ahead of his own son. But Om doesn't think of it that way, coz for him business was never a focus. But now he is doing business too coz he wants to make more money to buy off Svetlana.(But that is not consistent with what the makers said at the start that Om was a billionaire himself).He is definitely a millionaire but he is clearly not as rich as Tej, which is what Svetalana keeps pointing out. So Om decided to enter the business as well. Not because money matters to him but it matters to a woman like Svet who he is trying to get rid of.
