Chapter-3

Geet looked at the child first then at Maan.He was looking at her only...Even Head nurse too insisted her to offer the cake to him as he was their senior and was there to join the celebrations...

Kids were running here and there with enthusiasm. They were enjoying the birthday celebration of their fav sister and playing by running behind each other

Geet with a piece of cake moved towards him.. She stood in front of him and still was reluctant to feed him..Her eyes were travelling from maan to cake than back to Maan..Maan was looking at her and was waiting for her to offer the cake

Oh shi# I forgot to wish her. Maan you are a gone case ..you forget everything when she is in front of you..He scolded himself mentally.- At least wish her first ..

She was still unmoved and Maan initiated their talks -Happy Birthday Geet

Thank u so much Doctor..She was still hesitating to feed him so did not move her hand

Do I have my share in this cake?

She nodded a little feeling very nervous and she slowly moved her hand towards his mouth. She was thinking it as her hardest time ever.. She was little scared too but next moment her eyes were as wide as a saucer when she felt his touch on her hand in which she was holding the cake.

Maan could see her shocked expression but in a very natural way without making it oblivious to everyone,he brought her hand near his mouth and took a small bite from the cake..

Geet's throat dried feeling his touch on her hand. His touch was warm as well as very soft..Her eyes stayed on her hand in his soft grip without even blinking.. It was new and a virgin feeling which she never felt before when someone touched her and she did not know what was that ,..never experienced before ever.. ..They were always on good talking terms but never touched each other like this..

Maan who was almost blown away when he held her hand..It was so soft and he could feel it trembling..He was actually feeling good to share that moment with her he felt blessed to have her near him like that.. The day had turned in to a blissful day for him.. If he had asked for anything else today may be that wish to could be fulfilled today... His eyes were on her face reading her reactions.. he could see her shocked and may be scared and nervous too. But today he was enjoying her every expression changing at every next moment

After taking that bite from the cake he took the cake from her hand and fed her too.. This was another shock for Geet..her hand was still in his one hand and was holding the cake in another hand.. one hand of both of them was sticky with cake.. Before he could leave her hand Geet fell on him. Maan's cake filled hand brushed with her face at it was near her mouth..Maan held her tight with other hand to stop her and him from falling as it was completely unexpected..

One of the kids had stumbled while running and bumped in to Geet pushing her towards Maan.. her face landed on his chest and Maan's heart skipped many beats seeing her so close to him her soft touch of face was creating a burning sensation in him..

She was too close to him to feel her uneven breathes on his exposed part of his chest between his collar and first button of the shirt..he could inhale her fragrance without any effort..

Geet was scared at first at this accident.. She was numb for a moment and did not react at what had happened. She forgot to move as her mind had stopped to work . Her sticky face had landed on him and she did not know what to do.. and she grabbed his shirt on his shoulder with her sticky hand..and she was sure that she was completely gone now..She was ready to receive a good scolding from him for ruining his shirt and him..and she wished the ground to split to hide her in it..It was so embarrassing for her..

Nurses saw Geet falling on Maan and few rushed to help her as they too were scared of his reaction for spoiling his clothes ..

Head nurse scolded the kids and asked them to sit quietly at a place. Geet realised what she had done so she instantly pulled her hand away and tried to stand without taking his support but could not as maan had leaned back in effort to balance himself while holding her close to him...

One nurse held Geet to separate her from Maan but Geet hissed with pain-Aah..and Maan too felt a pull on his shirt

Nurse tried one more time but the result was the same..Geet shrieked a little with pain.Her tightly pinned hair under her cap had stuck in his button.. Seeing her hissing Maan stopped the nurse-Just a second sister.. Let me do it.. wait

He balanced himself along with Geet holding her close as he could not do anything else because her hair were badly stuck to his button and he could not separate her from him.. He tried first to remove her hair without looking down as he knew that she was too close to him but it did not work and then he looked down at his button to remove her hair but now he was almost touching her face with his face...Geet looked at him . This closeness now had started to put an effect on Geet too.. it was very first time that she was this much close to any man.. Her heart was bouncing to come out of her throat but she was was scared too .

She thought that he was angry on her clumsiness and looked in to his eyes tilting her face upward to see if he looked angry on her but was surprised to see him...

He did not look angry..His expressions were soft ..His clothes were almost in mess with that cake which he was holding in his hand ..Maan leaned little more to take her hair out and in this effort his lips brushed with the her forehead..Geet for a moment froze at her place and she closed her eyes as it was becoming hard for her now .

Maan was almost going to lose his senses and was amazed at what was happening between them today..he never wished that but looked as if everything was happening by god's grace.. Few more efforts by him and her hair were free and nurse saw that and helped Geet to stand on her feet.

Geet took two step back and mumbled slowly-Sorry sir..I did not know how it happened. I m really sorry.. she was almost ready to cry and was ready to take every blame on herself. she was not looking at him as she herself too was having mixed emotions in her heart..She was scared as well as was feeling butterflies in her stomach.

Maan while looking at her-It's ok. You did not do anything knowingly.It was an accident.. Happy Birthday once again ..

and he left leaving Geet in a confused state..No one saw that a sweet and grinning smile was playing on his lips..

Geet kept looking at his back but soon was brought back by the voice of senior nurse-Thank God we are saved..otherwise we definitely were going to get a good scolding...Girls time to get back to work..and everyone dispersed after wishing Geet one more time..

Geet-What was that? Why I was feeling like that?

And said again -it was an accident Geet.. don't worry..But she moved her fingers on her face where she felt his lips..and a sensation ran thru her whole body still feeling that touch..

There Maan in his room was sitting on his chair with closed eyes.. His mind was still engrossed in those moment which he spent with Geet..He was surprised that he did not feel anything wrong when she was close to him..He wished if the time could be stopped at that moment and place..and he opened his eyes-What was that? Am I falling for her? Yess I m in love with her..I..I love her..and his heart started to run a marathon with the mare thought of love..he felt energetic from inside of him..he got up from his chair in excitement

But his heart sank thinking about Geet-What about her? Maan it's you only who think like this for her..and he sat back on his chair-Maan don't rush on your own feelings. Is should be both sides to be in love..

And he sat there thinking deeply..

Next day Geet was in the children ward.. they all were watching some animated movie on TV.

Maan went there and found them busy in movie so thought to check them later..

He saw Geet sitting on the chair ..She was busy in work..

He went near her

Maan-Good after noon Geet

Geet heard his voice and a felt churn inside of her..The memories of the last days came fresh in her mind. She stood swiftly at her place and for a moment looked at him.. and then quickly averted her gaze from him and wished him without looking in to his eyes. She did not know why she was feeling shy looking at him. He looked around and found the kids still busy in TV..her fingers were playing with the paper weight on the table ... she was standing with lower head.

Maan put his hand in to his pocket of white coat and took out a gift ..

He forwarded it towards her-Geet..It's your birthday gift..and

Geet looked at him.. She was confused-Why he was giving her the gift?

Geet without touching it-Thanks sir..I don't need it.. you wished me yesterday and that was enough for me.

but yesterday I did not know that it was your birthday so I thought to give it today

Geet not getting him looked straight in to his eyes-Do you give birthday gifts to all the staff members? If yes then i will take it..If no then why me?

No I don't give the gifts to staff members..Gifts are given to family and friends

Geet looked at him-Friends?

Maan nodded..

You think me as your friend?

Not only a friend but more than a friend..He said looking at him with deep eyes..

Geet was shocked to hear those words-More than friend?..she looked again in to his eyes.. She found some unsaid expressions in those eyes..It seemed as if he wanted to say more that that but was not able to say..

You too do a lot for me.. Do you do that for every dr. Here? No na. he asked her..There is something Geet which we share between us and that is above the relation of a dr. and a nurse.. For the sake of that relation please take this gift.

Geet looked at the gift he was still holding in his hand and then again looked at his face..He was looking at her with so many expectations..She forwarded her hand to take that gift. As her eyes were at his face, she instead of the gift held his hand. Maan felt her soft fingers on his hand and felt good.. when Geet did not take her hand back he whispered-Geet..I m just asking to take the gift not my hand..if you want my hand too..I won't mind to give it to you and hearing his words her eyes got wider and she looked at her hand which was holding his hand..

Geet instantly pulled her hand back and a red hue spread on her face making her pink all over..She was embarrassed-Sorry doctor.. wo..

It's ok Geet..i was just joking..

Maan was keenly observing her. He could clearly see the color of her face changing from white to pink... He with a smile held her hand softly and opened her fist and put the gift on her palm

She was still very shy and could not dare to see in his eyes

Maan-Thanks Geet accepting this gift and my friendship ..I m honored..

Saying this he left from there leaving her on a cliff-What did he mean? .. He thinks me more than a friend. What does this more than a friend mean? Did he mean that he likes me? And her eyes got wider as she thought this-OMG..He..he likes me..

She looked at the gift on her palm..She opened the gift and she found a beautiful memento of Taj Mahal -the symbol of Love..She caressed it with her fingers and one more time looked in to the direction where he went

Was he joking about asking his hand or he meant it?.. A smile started to play on her face seeing that gift..

Maan was smiling at his own act.. How easily he expressed his wish in front of her..Will she understand it? He inhaled deeply Maan you are getting impatient like some teenage boy just relax and concentrate on your work..and got busy in work

That day they came face to face two or three time ..Their eyes met every time but Geet was not ready to look in to his eyes.. once he tried to attract her attention towards her but she after looking at her for a moment averted her gaze from him as she was very shy today facing him..

Geet at her home was very happy..She was smiling without any reason.. Maan's face again and again was coming in front of her eyes and she clearly could feel a heat wave on her cheeks turning her in to a red shade

Her mother saw her smiling and asked-Geet what's the matter beta? You look very happy today?

And Geet startled as if she was caught red handed by her mother-No..no maa.. a..actually I m very happy because a critical operation was successful and i was the part of that operation..so I m happy today...She lied to her

Mother-Okk.. now come and have your dinner..

Afer dinner she tried to sleep but Maan's face was not letting her sleep..She picked that gift in her hand.

Sir please don't do this to me..I m not able to sleep.. You are troubling me..abhi ye haal hai mera ..how will I manage in front of you tomorrow..She cribbed to that gift as if it was him..

and while staring at it she slept

Maan drove back to home..he had decided to talk to dadi about Geet..he was so hopeful that she would understand him and after seeing Geet she too would like her.. ..he reached home and went in but he got a shock of his life..

He found Sameera there .Her parents were there too..

Dadi-Maan.. I have called them to fix the alliance.. I have already told you that you are going to marry Sameera as it was your father's last wish..

sameera's father welcomed him by a hug

Sameera-Hello Maan... Dadi wants us to get engaged tomorrow only..and I m ready for it.. It's my long wish to marry you after all our fathers promised to each other..

Maan could not expect this turn in his life.He was looking at her dadi to sammera to her parents..

dadi..I told you that...

but dadi cut him in the middle-I hope you won't want to disappoint your deceased father..You won't try to prove him a liar in front of Sameera's parents..

Dadi I want to talk to you alone..he requested

Maan took her to her room and looked at her with pleading eyes-Dadi I know papa promised them ..but what about me? Don't you think that I should marry the girl whom I like.. dadi I don't like Sameera..How will I spend my life with her?

Dadi-everything will be fine after marriage

Maan-But how dadi ? mare though of marrying her making me feel suck

Maan I have never stop you from doing what you wanted.. You wanted to be a doctor I agreed and I had to sale off the entire business just because you were not interested..Did I say that you should not be a doctor? She looked angry...Did I asked you to think for that one more time..No Maan..Because it was your dream to be a doctor.. What ever you asked I gave you.. then why don't you understand? I m asking you for the first time for something that too not for myself..it's for my deceased son who was your father and loved you...I have to face him some day in the heaven..How will I show him my face..How will I say him that i could not fulfil his wish..and now they are here for your engagement.. What I will say to them? It's the question of the reputation of my family Maan..I won't allow you to destroy it.

Maan-But dad ii don't like her..

Dadi-So what Maan?.. likes and dislikes can change after marriage.. You know your grandfather did not see me before marriage.. but we were happy..Even your father did not say a word when we selected your mother for him..they lived happily with each other.. At least you know Sameera ..

Maan-Exactly dadi..I know her ..that's why I don't want to marry her..

Why? What is the problem with her? She is well educated ..belongs to a good family. She is beautiful too..perfect for you..What else you want in your life partner..She asked in an angry tone

Dadi. It's not necessary that your parameter are right for me to judge a person...I.. I like some other girl..

Whattt? She was shocked to know..Who is she? Is she a doctor? Does she belong to a good family? Are they equal of our status? What does her father do?

N..no dadi.. she does not belong to a rich family..

Matalb garib ghar ki hai? No Maan.. you don't know the girl from a poor back ground cannot adjust in a rich family like us..

dadi.. just meet her once..without meeting how can you say anything about her..he pleaded one more time..

No Maan ..hamaare jeete ji to aisa nahin ho sakta..hamaare marne ke baad tum uss ladki se shadi kar sakte ho..

Daddiii.. he almost shouted on her for saying that

Hamaare jeete ji aisa kabhi nahin ho sakta...kabhi nahin..Her BP had shot up with that argument.. She held her heart and fell on the ground..

Maan looked at her and shouted- Dadddiii..and few minutes later he was rushing towards the hospital taking dadi in an ambulance Sameera and her parents followed them to the hospital..
