Shhh...Reading...
I read sporadically all sorts of things and available to help as a basic editor, proofreader and or beta reader.
I can help with grammar, prompts and working through ideas. I can't help with gaining more readers though the following tips may help.

1. Create a hyperlink in your signature box for potential readers to click

2. Find an attractive cover with a suitable title for your story to put in your signature box too. People judge based on aesthetics I found so grab them from the go. Find a editor on the FF forum's shop, DIY, google, pay someone or request me. If I am free I'll try my best.

3. Actually write a completed, well edited and regularly updated story. The readers come for the pictures but stay for your story.

4. Be regular, active and a helpful member. Make friends and ask them to refer your story to people they know will like it and want to. Post your story info and link on writer to reader, the appropriate forum's archive thread and here too. I'll check it out if I can and you'll instantly have one more reader.

3. Be socially savvy by using Facebook, Twitter and Wattpad to reach more people if you can and are inclined. You can create accounts just for writing purposes.

4. Appreciate every reader, replying back and engaging with them. You may think your fifty readers is nothing compared to someone's 500 or 1500 likes/readers ( that exists, I saw it) but there's someone out there with one or two. Keep it in perspective if you can though I know it's hard.

5. Be patient as getting readers and likes take time. Writing a story takes time and effort so focus on completing it. Have small goals and update by update you'll get there. If none of the advice work then I'm truly sorry but try to not lose heart. There are so many factors involved that becoming a popular writer isn't easy or clear cut and for a lot of writers they won't ever really be popular with hundreds of readers even if they write amazingly well.

How can I say this? Aren't I a popular writer? Define that word by the number or readers and likes overall and no. I'm not great nor popular but I learnt the hard way to be grateful for even the handful that take time to read and wait for your updates. I've written updates at times when no one was reading so I know something though it's little.

6. Be respectful, responsible and humble. Don't nag, spam or ever plagiarize! It's wrong to steal someone's work and say it's yours. Karma will get you eventually and you'll be blacklisted here as well.

7. Enjoy what you can and ask questions if you need to.

T I P S F O R G R A P H I C M A K I N G : P A R T 1

1. There will always be someone who does it better, faster and more elegantly than you and it's okay. You can't control any of those factors but you can control your personal progress and journey at your pace. So whatever your skill or experience you can make something and you will improve.

2. Start simple to learn the basics, do whatever floats your boat and be patient. It will take time and sometimes you have to fit the time in where you can. You'll be spending time on it so especially in the beginning make sure it's something you enjoy.

3. Learn about copyright, plagiarism and inspiration. Look up commercial licenses, copy right free stock images and how to protect your work and how to credit others for their work. You'd hate for your work to be stolen so don't do the same to another but don't go all Godzilla on someone who hasn't actually done anything either. You can't copyright ideas, only the way you put your idea together/ came about with yours.

4. You don't need the best computer, it can definitely help but you can use most modern computers with editing softwares.

You definitely will need 4gb of RAM or more, 500gb + of storage in your hard drive (an external one is pretty nice if you can get it) and some kind of pen pressure tablet. A mouse is fine but you'll realise pen pressure is really useful and most professionals use it.

Again you don't need the latest, flashiest or the best. I use a cheap one, old and slightly broken. It takes me time and lags but I have to wait until I can afford a new one. Second hand isn't always bad. If it's a hobby or you are just trying it out focus on the important part of making something instead of worrying over flashy stuff. An artist can still make wonderful stuff regardless of their tools, because they have the skills. But when you're ready and able then you can move onto better tools. I'll go into more detail in a different post.

5. Get organised. Whatever your system and style, get organised and back it up. It'll be helpful when you end up with hundreds of textures, videos and images! All this takes up space hence you need lots of memory or you need to be selective about what you save. Date it, record its source so you can credit it. That's very important! Else learn to make your own. Back up your folders regularly so you don't lose anything. If you insist on downloading things make sure you firewall and antivirus is up to date. You don't want your PC getting infected so protect it first. Cloud storage is available with emails, use them especially if they are free. If you download a zipped archive, save a copy of it when you unzip it so should it crash you can get it back. Save several! Don't be lax with security or organisation, one day it will come in handy!

6. Learn to search for things properly. Google is a great place to start but don't just use the first link! Don't take something without asking or checking if you are allowed. If it's there, it doesn't mean it's free, without copy right and available. You actually need to check! Use the advanced search tools in search engines, use specific words and phrases. Be concise, keep your eyes pealed and if you find something record it in case you need it again. Use your favourites tabs for this. I have hundreds of pages saved for things and one day I will export them but I saved a copy of them too just in case. However you do it, you'll learn how to search for things and eventually find what you want. Sometimes it can be a minute, sometimes it'll take days!

L I S T O F T E R M S F O U N D I N D E S I G N

Here's a glossary of terms I come across and what they refer too.

Some details on the types of image files.

Raster images are made up of pixels that can become fuzzy when scaled up, vector ones do not get fuzzy.

Photoshop is a raster image editor and Illustrator is a vector one however you can create vector shapes in Photoshop.

Always save a copy of your work as a .pdf. Give it a clear name and re save after each new version to help you.

You can use .jpg or .png as your final image file type

For a .gif you have to save for web and mobile devices and make sure the loop setting is on forever
