Akash was the most suitable person for Di. He was very certain that he can convince Di and Akash for the marriage. So, he did not want to put negative thoughts about Akash's sister to Di. He hoped that Akash's sister does not create any issues to this proposal.

Kushi:

She did not carry any romantic illusion about life. She was happy with her life. She and Bhai would stay together always. They would stay together... No marriage in their lives. If Bhai does get married, then she, Kushi Gupta would choose the bride for him

Love, Romance, Marriage ... LIFE TOGETHER ... over exaggerated emotions which Kushi wants to keep away till her last breath.

CHAPTER 10

Next day

Kushi got up with a huge hangover and got ready for her college. Bhai wished her but she did not response. He was getting the cold shoulder for being impolite to her friend.

Akash regretted his behaviour towards Lavanya. He always loses his cool with her for she is a Kashyap. Kushi wants to maintain friendship with one of them, the same people who left scars on their lives. But Kushi's logic was plain and simple: you judge a person only for themselves. Kushi loved Lavanya and she would never accept his bad behaviour towards her. She is certain to sulk for another week.

He tried to talk to her, "How much alcohol did you consume yesterday"

She said, "I am not a habitual drinker to remember the volume. I drank as much as I could hold."

"Bhai, I was drunk but your behaviour was more disgusting. How could you be so rude to Lavanya? She came here to drop your sick sister, not to chat with you. In return she gets insults... Were you fair?"

"How can you take your anger with her family out on her? In that case you should not even talk to me considering one of my parents was a scoundrel."

Akash, "Enough! Whenever I see her I am reminded of all that we suffered. But sorry will not happen again"

Kushi, "We survived in spite of everything. Your anger is against an innocent. Except for that she is a Kashyap, Lav is nothing like them. She deserves so much more of everything; you don't realize what she is going through her. She is so different that she is not able to relate to any member of her family. Next time you hurt Lav, I am out and you can never find me"

" Bachha, don't say that. How can you talk like that?"

"Because your bitterness is consuming you. A single experience in life cannot cloud one's decision. "

Akash: "Sorry!! Really sorry for last night."

Kushi, " Love you"

She took some medicines for her hangover and got ready to go to college. Her Bhai dropped at her college and all through the journey Kushi was advising him to let go off the past. Finally, Akash assured to control his temper.

Akash had a client meeting in Pune and dialled AR designs informing that she will not be in his office today. After last night incident, he wasn't sure what was expected from him at AR. Arnav should not have provoked him. He was not going to let anyone talk abusively about his sister. No job was worth it!

He probably should talk to Anjali and ask her to clarify about Kushi to Arnav. One of these days, he should arrange a meeting between Kushi and Anjali. But his concern was that Kushi was not good with strangers and those too rich strangers... She tends to speak unintentionally.

Kushi dragged her feet to the college and attended four classes. By the end of it, she was exhausted, God why did she drink and what did she achieve except a boomerang headache.'

Kushi completed her classed by 4.00 and skipped the rest of classes and got ready for home. She searched for her home keys and could not find them. She immediately looked for her mobile and could not find it either. Disappointed she went to the sports auditorium, one of her favourite places and went to the top level , put her head on the bag and went to sleep.

Previous night's melodrama had exhausted him. Usually Purvis's death anniversary was spent peacefully and in isolation. But yesterday was a tornado and Akash's sister ruined his day from morning to night. Arnav decided to go home to rest for some time.

He decided to leave early for home and started the car. His feet hit something and he picked a mobile. He pressed the active button, in a flash came Akash and his sister's face. Arnav was frozen by the picture, a beautiful image of brother and sister holding hands and smiling at each other. There was something endearing about the picture. The picture reflected the same love that Akash bestowed on Kushi the day before. He called Akash and his phone was switched off. Arnav remembered that he was probably held in the Pune meeting. He had to return the phone to Akash's sister. Unfortunately he did not have Lavanya's number.

Arnav decided to give it to Akash the next day when he reached office.

He started his car and slowly drove the car and stopped the car at his destination. He got down from the car, walked to the gate and suddenly realized that he was in front of the medical college where the girl was studying. He was irritated and rushed back to his car.

He then reasoned that since he was already at the college, he may as well return the phone to her.'

He entered the college and went to the reception and asked for the girl. One of the students took him to the sports auditorium. Arnav was wondering how to respond to her, Kushi, should he bury the hatchet or apologize to her for his rudeness.'

There in the auditorium at the upper level, the girl was sleeping. It looked like she was feeling a little cold.

The girl said, "You leave the phone close to her ears and give a call. Once Kushi goes to sleep it is impossible to wake her."

Arnav gave a missed call from her number and redialled the number. He tried a couple of times; she did not even move a tinge. The girl who accompanied me said, "I have to leave so maybe you can leave it next to her and she can pick it up once she wakes up."

Arnav left the phone next to her and wanted to try waking her one last time. He hesitantly and softly called "Kushi".

Kushi, "Hmmm..."

The girl who accompanied him, was astounded, you actually managed to wake her! Kushi stirred but did not rise, Arnav called out her name a little loudly "Kushi!!"

She got up and sat straight and disoriented.

Kushi, " Yes???"

Arnav, "You left this phone in my car. Take this."

The other girl interrupted, "I will keep going"

Kushi: "Thank God!" and immediately came to conscious. She took the phone and started dialling,

"Bhai, I forgot to take my keys, I am still stuck at college, when will you be back?" Come straight to college, I am at auditorium, come there and pick me. "

Kushi, "No Bhai, no issue, I can wait here. I will have something in the canteen."

Arnav listened to her side of the conversation. Kushi turned towards Arnav, still looking at the mobile said,

"Thank you for returning the mobile. Thanks for everything" took her back pack and moved towards the canteen.

Arnav was rooted to the spot was this girl being polite or rude. She did not even glance at him, did not mention anything about the previous night.

He was completely confused! He shrugged and started moving to the gate. He reached the car and checked new messages on his mobile.

Arnav did not realize that he was not moving away from the college. May be he should check on her, after all she was Akash's sister and just then he saw her walking with a cup of coffee in hand.

Didn't she just say to her brother that she would be waiting for him in the college? It was not his concern but she was Akash's sister so ...'

He walked towards her and stopped in front of her.

Abruptly he said, "Why don't you call Lavanya and stay at her home till you Bhai picks you up."

She laughed out, "No problem I can take care of myself." She started moving.

Arnav: "Aren't you stubborn"

Kushi: "Am I? I can stay here and wait for Bhai"

Arnav relented and said, "If you want I can drop you at your brother's office."

Her brother's office!!!!

Immediately Shwetha Kashyap's face came to Kushi's mind and she shuddered, she did not want a repetition of the previous night! But her brother was yet to start from Mumbai and the traffic is killing at this time that means he will be here only at midnight. She had two options, either sleep in the auditorium with the mosquitoes or sleep in Bhai's air conditioned office. She was exhausted, and decided to go and sleep in her Bhai's office. She decided to sneak into her brother's office.

Kushi: "Please, thank you!"

Arnav: "Come."

He had to handle this girl carefully as she could play a major role in Di's life. He wanted to start a conversation to get some information about Akash and herself. It may help him to initiate the wedding proceedings. He needs to carefully rush as the next hearing for Sharoo's custody was in six months.

They drove in silence.

Kushi: "Thanks for dropping us yesterday"

Arnav: "Yeah but you were not conscious about it." May be you should not have drunk so much"

Kushi defended herself, "I don't want to talk about it! Subject Closed!"

No one spoke to him with so many attitudes and it was irritating him. But his Di's interest was involved.

After seeing the love and concern Akash showered on his sister, Arnav was certain that he would be the perfect partner for Di. Both Sharoo and Di deserved a good life. He failed Di in her first marriage but this time he would make sure nothing fails. Even if that includes putting up with this obnoxiously irritating and rude girl, so be it!

In fact if everything falls in place he will make sure this girl got married before his Di's wedding. He can request Akash to stay with them, so that Sharoo will be always with them. For that Kushi should trust him.

Arnav: "But your brother was so worried! Does he deserve this kind of anxiety? If you had any concern you would not have done that to him"

"Who are you, man! Just because you give a drop does not give you the right to advise me. I don't think I need to know from a stranger what my brother is. I have an experience of 23 years.

Arnav was pissed off. In his entire life, no one has spoken to him this way, not even his step mom. He had enough of it and stopped the car. The last two days has been a mess, primarily because of this pest sitting next to him. Akash or no Akash he does not have to take it from her. For all he cared, she can rot in hell.

He stopped the car, "Get out!"

Kushi, "OK. You were the one who offered to drop me at my brother's office. You cannot dictate me according to your whims and fancies. Drop me at the brother's office, now!"

This girl has gone mad; she was in her car and dictating him. Arnav refused to start the car. Kushi refused to move, There was a battle of wits.

"Out!"

Kushi neither had the interest nor the energy to fight with this arrogance now. Sleep...only Sleep... May be some other time , she will take on this guy and teach him that money does not give the right to dominate.

Kushi got down from the care and went sat in the bus stop. It was 9o clock. Hopefully her brother will be here in 2 hours time.

Arnav was breathing hard to control his anger. He wanted to drive away from that place. Already he regretted his decision and was feeling guilty to leave her in such an isolated place. He was a gentleman even if she was not a lady. He turned towards the bus stop; she did not even turn his side, not a single glance. No regret whatsoever for her acts.

Just then another person joined Kushi in the bus stop. He was passing quick glances towards her and was moving slightly towards her.

No way... He can never leave her now. He was about to call out to her, when he heard her talking to the stalker.

"Boss! What do you want? Want to sit next to me, come here.

Has this girl gone mad? The man was now encouraged and started a conversation.

Kushi, "I am very tired and sleepy and still I can carry a hard punch. Stay here and guard me while I sleep ... If something harms me , you will be done to death..."

The man scrambled away from there with Kushi shouting him to come back. He felt pity for Akash, wonder how he handles this girl...

Just then she moved towards the car.

Arnav, "Here she comes. She probably wants a drop!"

She came near the window, "My mobile battery is completely down. I want to make a call to Bhai to come and pick me from the bus stop".

Arnav grudgingly said, "Come will drop you"

They were driving silently.

Arnav, "You should not be talking to strangers"

Kushi, "But then I should not be driving with one! But I can handle a stranger whether he is in the bus stop or in the care"

They reached AR designs.

Kushi, "Thanks, will call for the security. You may leave."

She went away without turning back and entered the building.

She just needs to sleep off... Somebody have mercy, I just want to sleep.

So Kushi did not know that her brother worked for him. He entered his office and he saw her on the reception sofa sleeping deeply.

He probably should get some food but she looked exhausted... Probably she needed sleep more than food. He called Akash and informed that Kushi was in the office. She did forget to do that. He went to the cabin and started working on some of the documents and eventually drifted to sleep.

He suddenly heard some noise and woke from his disturbed sleep and realized it was 1.00 pm. He looked in the direction of the noise and saw Akash trying to wake Kushi.

He came down to Akash.

Arnav, "Hi Akash!"

Akash, "You are still here"

Arnav "Was catching up with some work. Any way it too late, I think you should take Kushi home. Thankfully tomorrow is a holiday, she can sleep late."

Akash, "Yeah! But she is not getting up. I will carry her to the car. By the way about last night incident, Sorry was in a bad mood. I should not have reacted so strongly. After all you don't know Kushi the way I do. "

Arnav, "No issues."

He turned and called out, "Kushi"

Kushi, "Hmmm..."

Arnav, "Your brother is here, you have to go home."

Akash had a stunned expression, "How did you do that? It is impossible to wake Kushi when she is sleeping"

Kushi got up disoriented. Arnav noticed that she had the same expression immediately after she wakes up. May be everyone looks the same way but he never noticed this earlier with others.

She saw her brother, "Bhai, how was your trip. Can we go home, I am tired."

Akash, "Move, let's go"

All three of them left the office and got into the car.

Arnav, "Akash, Don't let her sleep till you reach home."

Akash gave thumbs up sign and the three of them went home to rest.

CHAPTER 11

Kushi s semester exams would begin in four weeks and she was caught in her preparation. She studied long hours and usually went to be around 2.00- 3.00 pm. Today after a long time all of them would meet in the evening. Lav wanted to have pizza last week, so that's were they would head . They will go for a long drive and then hang out on the way and then dine out with pizzas. Bhai had a meeting at Delhi and would be later in the night , so she informed him that she would go out with her friends.

They drove to the outskirts, stopped on the way to eat some chat and nariyal pani. They a relaxed on the benches put outside the shop and discussed about theira preparation. Raghu was the genius, Kushi worked hard and she was at the top three. She needed to maintain that to gain scholarship. Kushi was the most hard working of the group and it amazed people how she could go hours at a stretch for her exams.

Kushi, " Really worried, yaar, running out of time, I need to maintain my grades or I will miss out on the fellowship." Both Raghu and Kushi needed the fellowship , otherwise Bhai would have to cover their entire fees.

Raghu, " Kushi but you need to get your sleep or very soon you will fall sick."

There was some music being played , they were having fun dancing and relaxing. Studying for medicine was a tough option and the hard work and dedication that goes into it is immense.

They spend most of their time studying, a rare day of movie or outing. Raghu will graduate in another year and a half and Kushi needs another two and a half years to become a doctor.

They were relaxed and lazy and did not even want to move out of the location. Raghu called out to her and she went and sat next to him and he started clarifying some of her questions. All three of them benefited as they were from the same class while Raghu was senior to them. After another two hours of lecture from Raghu and three cups of chai , everyone started feeling hungry and decided to go the pizza shop near airport.

Arnav and Akash came out of the airport after a long day at Delhi. Akash was the best companion to go for meeting, everything goes well with no surprise. Just then , his phone started ringing, it was Shwetha.

Shwetha, " Where are you, Arnie".

Arnav , " Myself and Akash are returning from Delhi, we are at the airport"

Shwetha's ear and senses sharpened, Is it possible it is the same hateful Akash? She did see Kushi in AR the other day. There is some link and she needs to find it out.'

Shwetha: Arnav, I am also travelling and am at the airport . Can I meet you now, so that I can take a ride with you. Please wait for 30 minutes and will join you"

Arnav wanted to go home to Sharoo but he did not want to sound rude...

He told Akash that they had to wait for a friend.

Akash nodded and took his phone and called Kushi to inform that he reached Mumbai.

Akash moved to the caf and took a cup of coffee when he received a call from Arnav informing him that his friend has arrived.

Akash moved towards the Arnav and saw him standing with a girl with her back facing him.

He reached them, " Hi, Can we leave now."

Shwetha heard the voice and her doubts were confirmed that it was the vile Akash. She turned towards him and the expression on Akash's face was worth the journey from the city to the airport.

Seeing Shwetha was like a punch on his gut, after three years... Thank God Kushi was not around.

Arnav, " Akash, this is Shwetha, a dear friend of mine."

What !!!

She stretched a hand towards Akash , Hello, Akash."

Akash refused to stretch his hand in a shake .

Arnav, " Akash , she is wishing you."

Akash " Oh ! sorry ! my hands are wet."

Akash wanted to move immediately out of there, this girl was bad news for them ...

Arnav stopped him and said "Akash I need few minutes to discuss about the meeting and then you can leave, sorry. Lets go sit somewhere."

Shwetha was glowing , "There is a pizza place just round the corner." She has to warn Arnie about this Akash.

They drove to the pizza house and entered the place to take some seats. Akash was very uncomfortable and he just wanted to rush out of there. He heard someone shouting his name and it very much sounded like Kushi. He looked around and was astounded to find Kushi and her friends on the other table. Bad day !!!

She screamed, " Bhai!" She ran to his table and then realized that he had company in the form of Arnav and Shwetha. "Oh my God! What is Bhai upto !"

She wanted to turn back but her Bhai looked so stressed that she did not have the heart.

Her friends heard her scream and looked up to the other table. Raghu froze , NK did not give a damn and Lav was cautious.

Raghu wanted to jump and take Kushi away from there . He was worried about the turn of events. A very unpredictable situation...He would have taken Kushi from there and she would have followed him like a lamb if not for her brother. Kushi would never leave her brother alone with Shwetha. He maintained his stance , hoping that Kushi will come back to their table. Shwetha would definitely provoke Kushi to lose her cool.

Kushi was dangling between the two tables, perplexed what to do next. Arnav noticed Kushi , saw her hesitation to meet them.

Finally Kushi dragged her leg to the table and hugged Bhai and gave a hesitant smile to Arnav and Shwetha.

Kushi pondered, How did this girl come here? She must be e a friend of Arnav because Shwetha would not befriend anyone without money. She has utmost scorn for people without wealth and according to her money gives all the privileges and Kushi truly hated her.

Arnav, " Hello Kushi, How are you? This is Shwetha, "

Shwetha was stunned , so how did Arnav know Kushi.' She needs to move fast.

Kushi , " Hi. I need to go, my friends are waiting for me."

Immediately their attention moved to her badmash company... ( Shwetha's terminology)

Arnav. " Why don't you all join us here."

Kushi thought, You are kidding, man !' and sharply said, " No!"

Shwetha's voice stopped her , " I don't have to guess who is paying your pizza bill"

She meant Lavnaya ..

Kushi, " You are right, I am. I can pay for you guys too... Sara dear, Please do serve what they want."

Shwetha, " So you know all the waitresses ...so do they help you in getting a discount."

Kushi, " I do, in fact I earn my pocket money here. I work here, twice a once a week.

Raghav prodded Lavanya to diffuse the situation. Lavanya bunched her shoulders and moved to the table.

Shwetha taunted Akash, " So you do not give your sister enough pocket money, so she waits on tables."

Akash stone faced, " She's just serves food , I have cleaned expensive cars for people, doing such jobs probably runs in the family."

Lavanya, " Hi Shwetha, how are you?"

Shwetha sharply said, " Don't you have exams, what are you doing here?"

Lavanya , " After two long weeks, this is the first time I am meeting my friends."

Shwetha, " We are spending a lot on your education, you should not be wasting your time like this."

Akash was feeling uncomfortable. Arnav interrupted, " Its OK Shwehta don't become mother hen now."

Shwetha said, "As a sister I need to keep tab with whom she hangs around?"

Kushi fled from the table. Arnav got the message , Shwetha was against friendship between Lavanya and Kushi.' Arnav understood her concerns ... So would be he if his sister had friendship with some one like Kushi. But seems she triggers a lot of loyalty from people around her.

Arnav had his own problems and these problems did not matter to him.His mind drifting to Di and Sharoo. In this 4 months that he has been observing Akash he would be the right person for both Di and Sharoo. For that he has to be cordial with his family, his sister.. He needs to make sure that everything goes fine and especially with Akash's sister. He had a strong feeling that Kushi is a major influence in Akash's life.

Shwetha to Lavanya, " No point asking you to join us."

Lavanya, "Nothing like that, I came with them so ...

Shwetha, " Look at your friend, she's sitting there smirking..."

Lavanya, "Lets be honest... both of you don't like each other. Leave it at that."

Akash was looking at Lavanya with deep thought, intending to say something but maintained silence.

Shwetha, " She does not exist for me, she's jealous of me!!!"

Now, now... Kushi jealous of this girl. Akash could not contain himself and burst laughing.

Akash, " Are you serious?"

The situation was getting out of control. No brother can hear someone talk about his sister like that and Lavanya held Shwetha's hand.

Suddenly Kushi appeared with a slice of pizza , " Bhai, for you, pepperoni cheese pizza."

She stuffed pizza into Akash's mouth and turned to Arnav

"Can I take Bhai along with me."

Akash, " Arnav wants to discuss with me."

Kushi, " He has company and you are a third wheel ,Bhai."

Arnav, " Kushi, you know what your problem is. You jump to conclusions, I don't know how others feel your intrusion into their life but ... stay away from mine."

Kushi saluted, " My pleasure...but can I take Bhai, Mr.Raizada."

Arnav, " Tone down your attitude... Not everyone will take it with folded hands."

He turned towards Akash, " I will see you at office a little early tomorrow." He turned towards Shwetha , " Should we leave."

Akash, Why is this Kushi taking out on Arnav."

Kushi again to Arnav, " Your pizza is on the way... Don't waste food ... I am sure you can find other ways of flauting your wealth."

Now, Akash was irritated with Kushi, why is she targeting Arnav. She cannot take her anger on Arnav, that was not fair. Arnav never flaunts his money not show any arrogance. Kushi is categorising people because of her experience. It was neither right nor fair and Arnav is not going to sit quiet towards her provocation.

Arnav, " Lady, what is your problem ?"

Kushi, " I ordered pizza in front of you, you could have refused then. Now if you don't consume, isn't it waste of food."

All of them were stumped including Shwetha, the conversation was now taking a different course. It was becoming a verbal battle between these two.

Shwetha observed certain things, Akash was Arnav's favourite but it seemed that Kushi displeased him'. His discomfort with Kushi will eventually distance him from Akash. It is just a matter of time.

NK realized that the situation was delicately poised, " Baby! you know I can finish all the pizzas of this outlet."

Arnav, " Now, there you go, food will not go waste. Anyway , I don't think I can digest the food. See you Akash !" He left with Lavanya and Shwetha.

Kushi looking at their receding back, " Look at the arrogance!"

Akash, " Shut up Kushi. It is not him but you who are rude"

Kushi, " What did I do? I think you should change your job. How can you bear with this every day. No wonder you have become grumpy in the last few months"

Akash was riled, " You are becoming increasingly stubborn."

Kushi, " You are scolding me for an outsider."

Akash, " I am leaving ."

Kushi, " Pizza Khana hai. Don't waste food."

Akash was exasperated, " Don't talk to me. Pack the pizza , lets move ."

Kushi, " For how many minutes?"

Akash , " What?"

Kushi, " For how long , I should not talk to you."

Akash, " Life time."

Raghu and NK rolled their eyes at the melodrama between the siblings and followed Akash.

Kushi grabbed the pizzas from Sara, waved her and ran behind the boys.

Arnav was still in the car park appeasing Lavany who was upset at the turn of events.

He saw Kushi running behind Akash with four pizza boxes. She realized that Arnav was still there and came in front of the car and knocked the rear glass window .

"Lav, this is for you... chicken barbeque and baby corn. Love you, Bye."

Shwetha was mumbling, " Lavanya you are stupid, you fall for all her pretenses."

Lavanya did not make any comment.

Kushi, " I heard that, Shwetha. Don't get upset , you can also take this pizza."

Suddenly Kushi was lifted and that startled her.

NK, " Mataji, stop it... don't get into another argument. Give that box to me."

He dragged Kushi to the car and Arnav drove out of the building.

One thing is in my mind every time I read the update..why the title n story line not connecting at all...every chapter full details of heavy misunderstanding. future too cos swetha going to create one too. Hmmm..where does the meaning of the title comes in.hmmm.why lavanya seem like a weak character.
