As the clock struck eleven, Anjali sat in Shantivan's living room, lost in thought as her adept fingers cracked peanut shells. The activity had a strangely aggressive feel to it and was a great stress buster for quiet, gentle Anjali whose violent inclinations could be indulged in no other way without compromising her reputation.
Chote and Khushi-ji had gone crazy. How was she supposed to convince them to have a baby when they were so fixated on ruining their marriage?
Her fingers cracked a shell with sudden vehemence. It was all NK's fault. Why had he told Chote about Tinder in the first place? And it had been NK's endless praise of the stupid app that had influenced Anjali into putting the blasted idea, quite unknowingly, into Khushi-ji's head.
Yes. All NK's fault.
Another peanut shell bit the dust as Anjali gritted her teeth together.
Let him come home. She'd stay up until 3 AM if she had to. But she wouldn't let NK get away with ruining her companion-babies plan.
About one hundred and sixty seven mutilated peanut shells later, the object of Anjali's wrath walked in the doors of Shantivan, a half empty packet of nachos in his hand and completely oblivious to the tornado that awaited inside for him.
NK's mind was happily occupied with memories of that night's date with Lavanya, Anjali knew. Which made him an easy target.
The sharp and sudden pain on his left ear made NK cry in surprise and drop the nachos - which he was greatly regretful about later. As Anjali continued twisting his ear, he begged for mercy.
"Mercy? You deserve no mercy! Why did you do it, NK bhai? Made them cheat on each other? How COULD you?"
"Made WHO cheat on each other?" NK yelped, struggling to free himself.
As Anjali filled him in on the situation', NK's eyes widened. The pain in his still twisted ear suddenly became less apparent as his excitement grew.
The wheels in his brain were turning at an alarming rate. And Anjali could almost hear their metallic clank as she looked at NK's swiftly changing expression. Everyone knew that no good came from NK's wheel-turning. Anjali was suddenly terrified.
"Di! I have the most brilliant plan!"
"Wha-at?" Anjali stammered, dropping her hand from his ear and backing away in fear.
"They've got to meet up! As ASHISH and KIRTI - that's their Tinder names, right? They've got to, Di! Listen!"
As NK told her of his brilliant plan', Anjali grew thoughtful again.
It wasn't a bad idea, really. Perhaps when they got to know the truth about each other, they could talk and resolve their issues like sane, mature adults...
And perhaps THEN they'd decide to have a baby?
