JNDSD~ My take~ Wednesday 29.3.17~Once a daughter always a daughter..
In some cultures it is believed that a daughter is a precious gift that is eventually bequeathed over from her father's house to the family she is married into. Hence goes the traditional father giving away the daughters hand to be married into her future husband's hand. Today's episode is largely painted from an embittered daughter of the household's point of view. The episode touches upon usual familial relationships. How relationships have to make and endure adaptations. We see the repercussions of jarring and bitterness between group dynamics when family members feel unsupported and excluded. Another glaring factor that comes to surface is that the dispute is between women, but it's triggered off by the presence of influential and significant male figures. The episode brings to light a very common scenario where the daughter of the house, Kalindi feels singled out and feels treated like an outsider in a house she sees as her father's belonging. Kalindi has her own needs, she returns to her father's house displaced after her own marriage broke down. As a daughter she has really lost her position in a way to Suman her brother's wife. Kalindi is seen more of a burden rather than a daughter. The proverbial preserving and dignified daughter in law Suman is the one who is the apple of her old father's eye. To me it's senior Vashist's fault who failed to maintain the balance between his divorced daughter Kalindi and his daughter in law Suman. The episode is about daughter versus daughter in law. Blood versus the outsider About a wife versus the other woman..a step brother versus a long lost brother.. about Ramakant's two widows one loved by Ramakant and the other unloved...
Kalindi states her case..fighting for what she has right over ,part of her father's assets. It's obvious she picks on Atharv.. her brother Ramakant left everything to his son Atharv and his mother Sujata.Ramakant clearly wanted to make amends for his misdeeds. See how it back fires here. Before Sujata it's only her boy that matters. They managed life making an honest living and money ,assets mattered not to them ever. Kalindi treats Sujata and Atharv lingering in the house also as a threat to get their hands on her father's property. Desperation, seen in saving Atharv's life both women who love Atharv are ready to sign papers to forgo rights over asset. To save his life. the boulder used to act as a lever to hang Atharv is symbolic of the assets which becomes Sujata's stumbling block!!
A scorned daughter, Kalindi protests against her family system of being unjustly treated in terms of fair share of estate and assets.. she's past waiting a life time now, its now to snatch what rightfully belongs to her. Kalindi keeps reiterating her role in the family.. that of a daughter.. does she feel this insecure due to her broken marriage? as in not having a permanent territory? or is she plain greedy for wealth? One thing is for sure that she needed support ,what with the broken marriage..perhaps Suman supported her as Suman claims, but the senior Vashisht clearly rubbed his estranged daughter the wrong way by going over the top in praising Suman for adapting to life with grace despite being shunned as a wife by his written off son Ramakant!!
So obsessed is Kalindi with snatching her rights that not even Ravish's gun can stop her from heaving the stone to make Atharv fall into the lake of no return! Like a maniac she reminds Ravish, in killing her , her property will go to Vipul but if Atharv dies.. then? Her silence outlines the significance of Atharv in the lives of Ravish! Vividha! Sujata and Madhav! Hence Atharv's life holds more value than vipul's that's why Vividha begs Ravish to drop the gun!! he keeps it still..
The scorned wife will let not go off the chance of the sweet vengeance against Sujata . when Suman turns up at the spot of action. In one look Suman can ascertain what Kalindi's intention is. But Suman reasons, if Atharv is to die and Sujata to be pierced in the heart! It will be done by her. No way in hell will she allow Kalindi to rob her of that moment for which she waited for thirty years! In the main it's a caustic verbal bombardment between the daughter of the family Kalindi, and her only brothers wife Suman. Kalindi's pent up venom stings Suman. In a stride Suman takes Kalindi's insults , taunts of being called and dense. A woman who is a pathetic loser who accepts failure ,lets things go by too easily, her property ,son and husband ! Suman lets Kalindi carry on to a certain point where she will do her deed of nemesis!
Ravish and Vividha too think strategically as these two harridan's battle out it by verbal scouring of each other. Vividha's heart calls out to the hanging Atharv to revive himself , open his eyes...all his loved ones are around him, no more will his mind be in a state of limbo.. Atharv open your eyes and see that Vividha is here for him! Ravish too sneaks and gets to a vantage point closer to the hanging Atharv ..
Kalindi is still on her high horse when in deep hatred anger she accuses Suman of not only seizing her fathers property from her but also her fathers. Love and respect from her! Suman gets the moment she aims for hurls Kalindi aside and tells her defiantly, she will rectify all her past errors!! By killing Atharv .. she will not let history repeat itself but rewrite it by her own hand! Sujata and Atharv will not steal her joy anymore!!
Ravish tries to save Atharv..his brother.Atharv revives, drowsily and looks round groggily his vision still slightly impair . But Suman eyes of iniquitous revenge open too ! this was the time she has to vent off! and without faltering a moment longer! she yanks the boulder by press of the leverage pole ... Atharv gets lowered towards the deadly waters of death..
Atharv!!! Vividha's screams tear through the macabre silence.. Sujata's boy seems pulled down in the jaws of the menacing waters. All she has left now are memories of her son.. Now snatched by a cruel woman.. Another mother whose son Ravish comes to help. Too late it seems! as Vividha reports his mother has just dropped Atharv in the lake! Suman tries to justify her action to Ravish ..with his palm in her face! he tells her silently he has heard enough! Seen enough! ..and his tears tell Suman she is on her own now! He is no son of hers!
Well the peace that Suman sought after for over thirty years is still out of her reach! She robbed herself of happiness.. For what's left of her life. The son for whom she kills..now condemns her as being his mother. Suman's so called sacrifice is termed murder.. Suman beats the the master mistress. Kalindi herself! Precap is alarming ! Suman gets shot by a mother whose son she is about to attack on the head! Sujata shoots Suman in the back. The shot in the back is meant for a criminal that absconds after committing a crime! Cowards and runners..for it's the brave who accept a bullet on the heart!! Does Sujata stop Ravish from committing murder..killing his mother? ..hamlet53 30.3.17
