Spoilers of BKD ahead

In BKD, Alia's character Vaidehi runs from her wedding on wedding day, leaving her parents embarrassed in front of entire society.

She also knew that her father has put his entire savings in the arrangements of wedding, still she went to follow her dream .

I saw a lot of Badri bashing posts, but no mention of a daughter's responsibility towards her parents honor?

If a boy had abandoned a girl at alter, we would have called him loads of names, what do we say when a girl does the same?

In Ainaa movie, Amrita Singh also ran away on her wedding day because she got offer to star in a movie. She was Villian in that movie.

So have the times changed now?

Maybe she thought she was capable enough to reimburse the costs. On a serious note impulsive decisions are a norm these days irrespective of the gender.

they show the heroine or hero leaving on the wedding day for it to filled more with drama lol, i dont think anyone in reality leaves at the alter, they usually know before the wedding if they dont want to get married and want to leave

well i dont think its that common to leave at the alter, coz honestly if they do its not right, in front of all of those people it wud be humiliating for the parents

I was coming to another point that a girl can't run away to Mumbai and make her career. She will only end up in a brothel !!

Reimbursing cost is possible, honor of parents is gone for ever😕

I heard about 2 weddings where groom/bride ran away, so yes it happens, but only to get married to their GF/BF

Was she honest with her parents about not wanting to marry? If the ans. is no it shows that Vaidehi was a weak character.. Yeh kya baat hui bhai? Shaadi ke din confuse ho gayi toh bhaag gayi? 😕 Reminds me of SDR. 😆

Initially she said no but later she agreed coz her sister was also getting married.

She planned to run away on wedding day, after finalizing a course that she wanted to pursue. So it wasn't impulsive decision.

I don't approve of such irresponsibility from anyone - girl or boy !!

RR, BKD has bigger problems. Since the Alia character ran away, the Varun character's father demands he teaches her a lesson. So he hunts her down all the way to Singapore and basically kidnaps her and puts her in the trunk of a car. She is shown begging in a meek voice to be let out. And then he pulls over and tries to strangle her and is seen by a Singapore cop doing so.

So what does the Alia character do ? Since she loves him so, does not press charges, bails him and takes him home because after all she ran away and deserves to be put in a trunk and strangled. It is a ridiculous, violent movie and I cannot believe it is called a family movie. My friends and I walked out of it. I cannot believe some thing like this is being filmed and hailed in 2017. So yeah, Alia's character running away is nothing. I am afraid what happens if someone runs away and a stupid groom thinks it is ok to follow the Varun's character method. It is on Alia, Varun, Kjo and the director then.
