i guess we also need to question ourselves
how we ourselves are so much more interested to see a sara ali khan or a jhanvi kapoor..see their movies..then discuss them here for a 30 pages ..then make comparison topics..sri devi vs jhanvi...what went wrong with jhanvi..did talent skip a generation? ..oh she is indeed talented like her mom..blah blah blah
we won't be all this excited for an outsider even before he / she hits the screen..
somehow our obsession with these stars which even continues with their kids is also a root cause..we give them and the movies they may star in so much more hype than we will to an outsider yet to star in a movie..sara ali khan and jhanvi already have fan pages for crying out loud..
I think it is a very valid point. Not every starkid is created equal or will have it easy. The bigger the parent, the higher the expectation and comparison and chance for the starkid to fail.
Even if KJO hands Jhanvi a debut on a platter, the comparison will be brutal. Sri has worked in both the South and BW and was right on top. Every single thing from looks to acting will be compared. Jhanvi cannot be mediocre, she must be good from the beginning or it will be brutal.
I think the biggest reason Abhishek that worked against him was because he was Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan's son, mediocre son of two very talented parents. Even if I judge him brutally I have to admit he was never bad just average. But for him average was never going to be enough to succeed. Similar or worse will happen to Aryan especially since SRK is the poster child for outsider achievement and Aryan is the ultimate insider.
Looks can play a part too. Who can believe Hemaji's daughter can look so average like Esha. She is not ugly but in an industry where your mom was called 'Dream Girl' and dad one of the most handsome faces ever you have to be Ash level beauty to even have a fighting chance. That is what is most probably going to happen to Sunny Deol's son. Comparison from body to looks of not one but two generations of ancestors.
Sara will be compared to both her mom and grandma. Soha was nothing spectacular compared to her mom and I think that worked against her. I think Saif had it easier since he was male and fewer comparisons to Mom.
I think that is what makes nepotism a little bit fair over the struggle of the outsider. Even Starkids struggle too because of comparison. But even they are not immune from a casting couch. Karishma's story is a caution that even an old family name will not save you if you do not have money and support.
Even Alia is not assured a career long term. Now KJO is handing her things on a plate, but long term even she has to compete somewhere. The market that is people ultimately decide and that is what is the saving grace.
